Sports clubs, community groups, Lambton High School P & C and the local MP have all spoken out recently about a proposal to build a new basketball stadium on Wallarah and Blackley Ovals. While all parties agree that Newcastle Basketball’s current facilities at Young Rd Broadmeadow are no longer fit for purpose, users of the sports fields at New Lambton are questioning why a new basketball complex should impact their regular use of the ovals on Turton Rd.
