PROJECT DESCRIPTION: RED SEA PROJECT IN SAUDI ARABIA, 100 VILLAS DIVIDED INTO SEVEN TYPES, FOUR VILLAS ON LAND, AND THREE OVERWATER. TWO SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS, A MAIN PUBLIC HUB WITH ALL-DAY DINING FACILITIES, A GRILL BAR, A KIDS AND TEEN PAVILION WITH ACCOMPANYING POOLS; AN ARRIVAL PAVILION WITH RECEPTION, LOBBY, LIBRARY, AND A RETAIL AREA; THE SPA HUB, WITH FITNESS AND WELLNESS FACILITIES, ALONG WITH A CAFETERIA WITH WIDE OUTDOOR OPEN SPACES INCLUDING SEVERAL LANDSCAPED WATER BODIES; HOUSEKEEPING BUILDINGS, A WATER SPORTS PAVILION AND OTHER SERVICE BUILDINGS REQUIRED FOR THE OPERATION OF THE ISLAND RE SORT; AND THE GUEST JETTY.

MY RESPONSIBILITY:
FROM DECEMBER 2019 TO AUGUST 2020, WAS A PART OF THE DESIGN TEAM WHICH HAS 7 PEOPLE AND IN CREASED TO 11 PEOPLE TO DO THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE, WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO DID THE CODING TASKS. FOR THIS PROJECT, CONTRIBUTED MY ABILITIES IN DEALING WITH COMPLEX GEOMETRY AND AUTOMAT ICCALY EXECUTION THE EVERYDAY REPEATITIVE TASKS, SUCH AS WHEN WE CHANGED THE FORM, THE MATERIAL OPTIONS, ROOM PARTITIONS, HEIGHT LEVEL,..ETC.. MY SCRIPTS HELPED THE TEAM IN SAVING TIME TO RE-MAKE THE DRAWINGS, THUS WE CAN HAVE MORE TIME TO FOCUS INTO DESIGNING TASKS.

STARTING WITH THE BASIC CONSTRUCTION GUILDING CURVES, WHICH DEFINE THE MAIN SHAPES.
THEN MAKING SIMPLE SKETCHES BY 2D DRAWING. WITH GRID LINES, WALLS AND DOORS, ALL ARE PUT INTO APPROPRIATE LAYERS, WHICH LATER CAN BE TRANSFERED INTO REVIT OBJECT IN THE RIGHT CATEGORIES.
THIS STEP IS STILL IN THE SAME WAY AS TRADITIONAL 2D DRAWING SOFTWARE AS AUTOCAD

THIS IS NOT A “GOOD” BIM MODEL. IN THIS CASE, REVIT ACTS AS A DESIGN AIDED TOOL, INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME INTO REPEATITIVE TASKS AS RE-DRAW THE SECTIONS WHEN CHANGING ROOM DIMENSIONS, WE CAN HAVE THE SCRIPT DO THESE BORING TASK FOR US.
FOR THE FORM-FINDING, THE POWER OF COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS IS USEFUL IN EXPLORING AND EXPERIMENT WITH SHAPES, IT GIVES US MORE OPTIONS THAN DOING WITH TRADITIONAL CAD SOFTWARES.
UNQUESTIONABLY THE MAIN ROLE OF ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STILL BELONGS TO THE ARCHI TECT, THESE TOOLS UNLEASH OUR CREATIVITY, SO THAT WE HAVE MORE TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE DESIGN.
