Project Statement
One of the drawback of modern architecture is flattening the differences between cultures with the globalization progress. From the year 2000s, with the popularity of the Internet proliferated, from platforms like discussion forums,blogs to social networks, people can express themselves everywhere via Twitter, Facebook , or Instagram. To consider mood as a proper subject in the contemporary moment, ornament is used as a way to express (show-off) personal mood or to identify characteristics of different nations, cities, groups or individuals. There are a variety of products and platforms that fills the role for self expression, which are often highly customizable and can reflect characteristic. However architecture seems to be slower on this trend comparing to other industries. Personal customization are achievable from designing your very own shoes to customizing your own car , unfortunately not for building . Present architecture does not express its owner’s personalities. Therefore, an intimate conversation between building and its occupant had never been truly achieved. In our proposal, the ornament systems would become the tower’s new structure. Main geometry design / form finding protocol is utilizing the principles of Fractal geometry, to create recursive elements and systems within an existing structure. Ornament is used for personalities expression and personalization progress of architectural objects. Ornament is the language through which architecture communicates with a broader public – with each simplification puts another degree of separation between the professional and the public. Ornament is not merely for beauty, it is a language, contains messages that, defines culture, position, way of treatments,… In nature everything has its position and properties, never randomly deployment.

Base on the structure of Tokyo Skytree Tower. 634 m high. Tokyo is one of the cities have highest population density around the world. Housing issues becomes imperative and important. From 19th century, Japan had decided replacing Western New Year instead of Lunar New Year. In recent years, Japanese society is facing a conflict between traditional and new culture, an issue of connectivities between humans and community, the opposite of personalism and collectivism. The Skytree is a radio broadcasting tower, which held both symbolic and physical significant role in the past society, however since the usage of Internet raised, the demand of radio and television broadcasting had been taken over dramatically, by occupying and offering a new structure to the Skytree, we see this as a way to honor the once historical important building and admitting to the need of change. Following the metabolism movement in Japan from 1970s, we decide to use Tokyo Tower as the base structure to develop the skyscraper. The new housing units attached into the new structure frames and their positions are deployed base on the owner personalities or their moods. People can find the space where they belongs to, and granted an opportunity to connect with other people who share the same hobby, moods, opinions,.... Personalization but not separation.
