from the ruins The past informs the present and our heritage gives rootedness to ourselves. No culture can live if it is to be exclusive. Many of our buildings our history within the city have been overlooked for past years. Some have been the victim to the enforced modernisation. The Jufel Hurst School near Garden East was the victim of dishonor to our history. Being the project researcher & documentation writer of this beautiful heritage site, I have no emotions; I just stand there in the rubble of my city’s history.

The aurora of art & creativity have always surrounded me since school days; the place where I learn puppet making and theatre plays, painting and drawing. It became a tool to express the imagination to pursue graduation in interior design and to practice interior-architectural designing is merely the outcome of that continuous flux that allows to see the beauty beyond the reality. This portfolio highlights some of the selected projects that I was part of amongst the variety of projects during my professional carrier till date

The 1000 sq.yd R esidence
The two sides of the house are relatively solid with most of the private and service functions. Whereas, the center is much more fluid and transparent. The floor plates stagger to form terraces holding the more inclusive functions like the living rooms, dining, swimming pool and deck area. The swimming pool becomes the hearth of the house as the interior spaces overlooks it. Taking advantage of this specific condition each room is beautifully crafted to resonate this beautiful view, perfectly knitted with the personal belongings of the inhabitants & customised furniture pieces. Each terrace layered with vegetation helps in connecting each floor level with the other and with the surroundings.

The Orange Fox L ab
The Orange Fox Lab is a hi-tech mechanical & electrical research lab. The design focuses on re-using the existing elements & furniture pieces and introducing some elements that envisions the lab as a sci-fi dexter lab. Each space thus has been associated with sci-fi names such as Developer’s Deck, Engineering Deck, Resting Nest, the Dexter room respective to the program. The shapes and forms used envisions the storyboard of some famous childhood sci-fi cartoons. The environment uses the opportunity of white with some accents of bright colors in the interior giving a hi-tech outlook.

The Va8ive Digital
The Va8ive Digital is an innovative and tech savvy organisation. It is a young coupon aggregator, works for the legitimacy with vigorous zeal. The design focuses on an open space planning where upon entering, one encounters a space full of creative thinkers. The idea was to create an environment that evokes ideas & a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they’re valued. The program resulted in developing 4 spaces: the service area, executive room, workzone and a cafeteria. The idea was to beautifully knit each spaces together with one function bleeding into the other such that the whole area is encountered as one holistically.

the creative buzz
The plan consists of informal seatings sandwiched between two sets of fixed workstations on either sides. Open conduiting for lights and electrical points labelled with two tones of color brings movement into the space & specially designed light fixtures that hung from the ceiling further accentuates the mood. The artwork on the ceiling above in the main workzone area encourages the eye to appreciate the pattern formed from the open conduits. The fussball in the cafeteria and table tennis in the lobby with 5 filament bulb hanging from the ceiling above have been the most engaging points in the space, says one of the employee. the swings and the specially designed bench and table- cafeteria

Vacation House in Naltar Valley
The program includes three small cabins connected by floating decks which merge into the mountain, allowing one to be enveloped by the natural beauty of the terrain. The design echoes the idea of responding to the geographical context, appreciating it’s beauty not over-power against it. The form and orientation of which borrows from local construction methods.

Sunrise Plasticsoffice interior
It’s always been exciting to re-practise the existing technology and materials used on the site. The Sunrise Plastics is a factory located near the SITE industrial vicinity. The architecture gives an impression of 70’s glory with textured crete facade and terrazo finish floors. The terrazo finish floors at the ground floor with marble steps and in the proposed design annouces the appreciation of these materials. The program consists of a reception, waiting, dining, working space, conference and meeting pods, and an executive room. The color accents are inpired from the ‘sunrise along the coast’, against the neutral white background, whereas the shape and form takes a more soft round edges which dictates the moulding nature of the plastic.

Dr. House: interior -architecture
Located alongside the residential street of Khayaban-e-Shehbaz, Dr. House is the renovation and extension of a double story house for a family of 5. The owner is a renowned doctor in the country who loved to have a herbal garden and to wrap his house with lush green foliage. The visual connection is thus provided between the interior spaces to the foiliage outside by introducing huge windows. The palette of the house is kept neutral: painted white against the stone cladding walls and polished doors and windows, celebrates the materials intact with this architecture in the bygone era. The idea was to fabricate a neutral yet modern outlook for the inhabitants.

the bonsai garden
The terrazo and concrete pattern floor welcomes the spectator upon entering. A series of bonsai trees and an old Pisonia tree make up the mini forest at the rear side of the house, with creepers climbing downwards from the terrace and the rooftop. This creates a visual and sound barrier between the busy roadside and the house. Silbetta stone wraps the part of the old structure whereas the new structure is been painted in white, thus defining the old versus the new. On a personal need of the clients, the groundfloor has a unique electic interior outlook whereas the firstfloor carries a neutral concrete outfit with whites’ and wooden browns as accents. bonsia trees and dense foliage with silbetta stone cladding wall creates a visual harmony and acts as a visual & sound barrier
