However, excessive patriotism may also result as an exclusionary feeling or attitude toward other countries. It cannot be considered a desirable patriotism when there is an attitude of ignoring another country because one considers their own country as a superior culture or has the idea of harming another country for the sake of one’s own interest. This nationalcentric attitude that is exclusionary to other countries is generally called nationalism. Therefore, we should pursue the desirable patriotism that recognizes and respects other countries as much as we love our own country. In addition, we must be careful to not overdo patriotism and flow into nationalism.
Patriotism is the feeling of love, devotion, vigorous support, and a sense of attachment to one’s country or homeland, as well as the unity with others who share the same sentiment Nationalism is identification with one’s own nation and support for its interests, even to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations
