Overview

HWPL’s Peace Movement with the Whole World

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), founded in 2013, is an international peace organization working globally to realize peace and cessation of war, a common goal of the global community. HWPL is associated with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) and in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is a non-governmental organization registered with the Seoul Metropolitan Government in accordance with Article 32 of Civil Act and Article 4 of Rules on Establishment and Supervision of Non-profit Corporations under the jurisdiction of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a peaceful solution to conflicts, HWPL proposed a new international document on peace. It Mr. Man Hee Lee, the chairman of HWPL and a veteran of the Korean War, has gone on more than

understanding on cooperation for peace of the Korean peninsula and the global community.

Excerpt from Mr. Constantinescu’s Lecture “In December 1989, in my country, Romania, young people would demonstrate against the communist dictatorship in the university square in Bucharest. My son, my daughter, my students were at that time in university square in Bucharest. At midnight, the repression troops went in with tanks against the unarmed demonstration, who did not threaten any governmental institution but offered flowers to the militaries, dozens of people were killed and thousands were arrested and tortured. People were willing to die for the ideas, ideas of freedom and democracy. The survivor of the communist regime, repression, wanted nobody to suffer what they have suffered, and all the cities that were given the possibility to contribute to the democratization of the country. Dear friends, it was our recent past. The answer regarding the future of freedom of democracy is the choice of each generation, and in the end, of each of us. I will use a single word that impressed me in all my visits in Korea: patriotism, an increasingly large sentiment in today’s globalized world and a huge first repair to solidarity of Koreans. We need to rediscover what unites us, our common goal. We need to redefine ourselves in the globalized world by what we are, and not what we have. Only this way, we can preserve our national identity and dignity respecting all other nations in the globalized world.”

as a university president and the city mayor’s executive assistant delivered congratulatory remarks, and religious leaders signed a peace agreement. The young people and citizens responded with loud cheers. On 25 May 2015, the Maguindanao government invited religious leaders of Islam and Catholicism, politicians, and women’s and youth groups to celebrate the second anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace. The Maguindanao governor officially declared 24 January as the Mindanao Peace Agreement Day and unveiled a monument that commemorated the agreement, showing Mindanao’s desire for peace.

Mindanao, Philippines, was a region where hostilities continued for decades. On 24 January 2016, however, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a group seeking autonomy for the Moro people (native Muslim inhabitants), signed a peace agreement with HWPL. They also built the Declaration of World Peace Monument at their base camp and reaffirmed their determination to carry out the peace agreement that they signed with the Philippine government. These outcomes, achieved in two years after the Mindanao Peace Agreement was signed, show how strong Mindanao’s wish for peace was.

World Alliance of Religions Agreement 18-19 September 2014, Seoul, South Korea

At the 2014 HWPL World Peace Summit, approximately 1,000 attendants have filled the seats of the Signing Ceremony of the World Alliance of Religions Agreement. The participants included Chairman Lee and 12 representatives of religions around the world such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Jainism, and Baha’i Faith. Before the Creator, all the people of the world, and the peace advocate, the agreement was made for all religions to achieve harmony under the Creator and for everyone to get actively engaged in the endeavors to achieve world peace. Since then, many people that attended HWPL World Peace Summit and events during the World Peace Tour have signed the World Alliance of Religions Agreement and participated in the work of peace.
