LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Hyde Community, Since its inception, Hyde’s core has been based on character development and family renewal, which we believe establish the foundation for all meaningful achievements. Hyde is also about the people. The high-quality families that come to Hyde entrust their child to the school as well as invest their own time and energy in the Biggest Job Family Program to set the example of best effort. The world-class Faculty and Staff team infuse their own energy into the Hyde principles and model excellence through their daily actions with the students. Finally, the Hyde graduates inspire us all to remain committed to this challenging endeavor by sharing their vision and lessons learned through their final speeches. On behalf of all of us at Hyde, I cannot fully express our gratitude for the Alumni, HAPA, Parents, Grandparents, Faculty, Staff, and Friends whose names fill the following pages. Your support of Hyde during the consolidation has been inspiring and we cannot thank you enough for your investment in the future of our organization. The annual fund supports every aspect of what we do at Hyde school from the Academic Program, Athletics, and Professional Development to Family Education and Scholarships. Without this support, we simply would not be able to grow and develop our important work with our families. As we move forward towards the future, we continue our commitment to provide a life-changing experience, while seeking new growth opportunities beyond the gates that will spread more “Hyde” to more families. Once you meet someone who has had a Hyde experience, you feel an immediate bond. We are Hyde and we know that the world needs more of the character building that we have all experienced. We thank you again and hope to see many of you in the coming year. Know that your gift has truly made a difference here and your example inspires all of us each day to continue to become our best self.

Sincerely, Laura D. Gauld President

SPECIAL GIFT RECOGNITION In the fall of 2017, a powerful Northeast storm brought damaging winds downing trees and triggering thousands of power outages in Maine. The damage to our ropes course was so severe, it was beyond repair. Jeff '78 and Claire Black, in a truly generous fashion, came to the rescue and made a donation to cover the cost of replacing this important campus facility. We can’t thank them enough!

WAYS TO GIVE CASH, CHECKS, AND CREDIT CARD GIFTS The Hyde School accepts gifts made as cash, through a valid checking account or by means of a credit or debit card

STOCKS OR SECURITIES Gifts of appreciated property in the form of publicly traded stock are accepted by Hyde through one of the School’s brokerage accounts. In the case of electronic transfers, the School has instructed its account managers to sell any security transferred as soon as possible after the transfer. The date of the gift is determined by the date that the securities are transferred into the School’s account. Donors are urged to contact the School ahead of the electronic transfer to assure proper application and recording of their gift. Securities transferred by other means, either through the mail or hand delivered, will be treated as transferred on the date that the School takes possession of the securities. All physical delivery of securities should be accompanied with a signed stock power and share certificate. For electronic transfers, securities will be sold as soon as practical after the School takes possession.

MATCHING CORPORATE GIFTS Hyde welcomes gifts that are matched by donors’ employers. Such gifts will be applied at Hyde in keeping with the purpose of the Hyde donor’s gift (usually the Hyde Annual Fund), and they will be credited to the employer’s corporate entity with a soft credit to the generating Hyde donor.

GIFTS IN KIND Gifts of Tangible Personal Property (such as artwork, collections, decorative items, automobiles, boats, etc.) or other gifts in kind may be accepted by Hyde provided that they meet approved needs of the School and do not place an undue burden on the School in terms of their use or maintenance. The donor should provide the School with a detailed description of the item when making the donation. All such assets are treated uniquely by IRS regulations both in terms of the School’s responsibility in accepting such gifts and the donor’s

responsibility in reporting them. Please be in touch with the Director of Advancement if you are considering such a gift. Hyde strongly suggests that donors consult with their tax advisors whenever considering a gift of this kind. Hyde reserves the right to dispose of any tangible personal property that has been donated.

PLANNED GIFTS Bequests – A bequest is a gift made by will, typically for a stated dollar amount or expressed as a percentage of one’s estate. Outright Gifts – Distributions from estates and trusts received by Hyde School can be counted in the current year’s giving totals. Distributions expected to be received during the year may be counted if confirmed in writing by executors or trustees. Deferred Gifts – Newly established or newly confirmed bequests will be counted as deferred gifts in School records. All bequest provisions instituted by donors who will reach age 70 by the end of the current fiscal year shall be credited at their full estimated face value when proper documentation of the bequest commitment has been completed. Charitable Remainder Trusts – A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is a legal document in which the donor irrevocably transfers a marketable asset to provide the basis upon which lifetime income payments are issued. Payments are based on the age of the donor, his/her projected life expectancy, and a fixed percentage of the trust assets at the inception of the trust (a remainder annuity trust) or as valued annually (a remainder unitrust). The minimum investment in a remainder trust for Hyde is $100,000. Charitable Lead Trusts – A charitable lead trust (CLT) is a legal document in which the donor transfers an asset that generates annual payments to Hyde. Payments are based upon a fixed percentage of the asset value determined at the inception of the trust or as a fixed dollar amount to be paid to Hyde annually. At the conclusion of the term of the trust, the asset is returned either to the donor or to other designated beneficiaries. The minimum investment in a lead trust for Hyde is $500,000.
