HYPERSPACES™ city modeling & 3D graphics

in a world in which more dimensions than commonly perceived are theorized, time and space - although at different scales - are expanded and contracted like a vibration. presence and synchrony are dissolved in a system of relationships. and in the relationship amongst places hyperspaces are configured.

the graphic representation is the naive attempt to describe the complexity of space in an instant through an optical illusion. an illusion that, within the game of variables, generates knowledge, sharing and interaction.

Hyperspaces™ - City Modeling & 3D Graphics is a team specialist in the digital representation of reality and graphic communications. Ensuring the highest standards of innovation and precision, it provides photorealistic engineering products in 3D reproducing from individual objects to entire cities. It works in the field of territorial planning, sustainable energy, cultural development and the marketing of the territory and architectural heritage and monuments. Hyperspaces™ is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, WebG.I.S. developers, programmers, software developers, graphic experts in 3D modeling and 3D laser scans with a close relationships with Universities and Research Centers. Its heterogeneity allows integrated and complex solutions applied to the fields of architectural design, graphic and multimedia Web applications.

Instrumentation and advanced skills of Hyperspaces™ made possible a collaboration with Californian Google Inc.: an example of integration to Google Earth 3D demo of an historic district (Villanova in Cagliari) with high-definition photorealistic graphic at the street level. An innovative and accessible solution of international importance for the promotion and enhancement of the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of the city. Due to its innovative nature, it established partnerships with several companies in the local market orientated to tourism and culture and promotion of the architectural heritage. The team works together with several external consultants in marketing and calls, fiscal and legal activities and Intellectual Property.

The digital reproduction of reality and graphic communications are the activities of Hyperspaces™. From the single object to the entire building until the urban and territorial level, engineering and photorealism find their mening. A completeness that, according to the needs and objectives of the client, is also found in the search for cheaper solutions and appropriate in the wide range of Hyperspaces™ products. The representation of reality in fact originates from innovative photographic techniques (HyperPhotos), then switches to 3D laser scanning of objects or buildings (HyperScan) until you get to the 3D modeling of buildings (HyperModel) or entire cities (HyperCity). Hyperspaces™ does not reproduces reality only, but allows its management and interrogation as 3D photorealistic G.I.S., applied to underground utilities services (HyperGround), to the above the surfaces elements (HyperGIS), to the roofs of the buildings in order to calculate the photovoltaic potential (HyperRoofs).

Moreover, Hyperspaces exposes its techniques through teaching activities and seminars (HyperTeach) and studies the changes of the territory through the activity of architectural and urban design (HyperProject ). All products Hyperspaces™ are technical tools with high resolution photorealistic output recognizable even at inexperienced eye, but also high-precision engineering products. These tools would be ineffective if not appropriately communicated. In compliance with the standards the Hyperspaces™ team has studied integrated solutions that make their products accessible in 3D real-time as in videogames, measurable and accessible on the web or multimedia. All with a common graphic design, innovative and consistent up to the last detail, also supported by video editing and soundtracks produced internally. As a technical or pure illustration tool, the representation of reality is open to testing, understanding and promotion of an area as a whole and its peculiarities. The interlocutors

of Hyperspaces™ fall in the areas: - Engineering as for the control: design, restoration, planning, G.I.S., environmental impact, public institutions, infrastructure and services/urban underground utilities; - Cultural in relation to knowledge: enhancement and protection of identity and landscape, archaeological finds, workshops, virtual access to objects not physically accessible, museum exhibits, virtual tours, identification of routes; - Local marketing concerning promotion: visibility for accommodation and commercial activities of the territory.

HyperCity

HyperCity is the flagship product of Hyperspaces™. Consistsofphotorealistic 3D modeling of reality on territorial and urban scale. Mainly referring to the Historic Centres and respectful of the privacy legislation in force, HyperCity is the result of complex calculations of photogrammetric maps and photographic surveys in high resolution and street-level of the facades of the buildings. It is a technical device with an accuracy of centimeters usable and measurable in real time, integrated with links to many external resource and published in the international showcase of Google Earth. From the HyperCity products various elaborations are derived: from the profiles for road used to rule and plan interventions on facades (e.g. Concerning the color of the facades in the historic centers, maximum heights of buildings, identifying architectural styles) to the census and reproduction of urban facilities: parking, street furniture, public lighting, the identification of degraded buildings that need renovation and

static consolidation, to the simulation of changes to the area for environmental impact assessments, identifying the characteristics of tourism and culture, to elaborations 3D G.I.S. and energetic planning at different scale, etc.. Main works HyperCity: photorealistic 3D of historical center of Cagliari (CA), of Pirri (CA) and, with Sjm Tech, of Olbia (OT), of San Pantaleo (OT) of Berchiddeddu (OT) and township of Marceddì (OR) to products useful for planning and services. It should be noted the collaboration with Google Inc. for publication on the Google Earth 3D demo of the historic district of Villanova in Cagliari. Hyperspaces™ is a Google Trusted Tester.

HyperPhotos HyperModel HyperScan HyperPhotos HyperModel e HyperScan are different solutions to the same request: to represent in a comprehensive way the interior and / or exterior of existing buildings, archaeological areas, caves and environments of different size. The chose of the type of product depends on the characteristics of the place and purpose of the client. HyperPhotos is the solution for purely illustrative purposes for a place.

It represent reality through the esclusive use of digital photography. A cultural heritage, a landscape, accomodation facilities, an architectural project or a building site are only a few of the examples of the objects that can be fully described by a snapshot or by a video timelapse, that can show in a few seconds a long-lasting event. HyperModel is the solution of compromise between HyperPhotos and HyperScan. It provides the photorealistic 3D modeling of the requested subject from its measurement and photography. It is a technical device with an accuracy of few centimeters and it is more suitable for an advanced description of a good architectural quality. In the case of buildings or building complexes in progress, HyperModel will result from the elaboration of plans, elevations, sections and design details. HyperScan is the most rigorous solution of Hyperspaces™ in technical terms and more suited to scientific purposes. Consists of photorealistic 3D laser scanning of a place or an object. With pinpoint accuracy is the best solution in the case of sites of great morphological complexity and architectural

heritage of particular value with no preexisting topographic survey. The most important pieces HyperPhotos concern resorts like the T-Hotel or cultural locations like the Mediateca del Mediterraneo in Cagliari, and fitness centres like the Terme di Casteldoria in Valledoria (SS). The main work HyperModel cover the Nuragic area of Barumini (MC), the Cathedral of St. Mary’s, the Church of Sant’Efisio in Cagliari (CA), planning activities for Chia Laguna Resort in Domus De Maria (CA), for new residences in Sestu (CA). The main work HyperScan cover the Basilica of San Saturnino* in Cagliari (CA), the Nuragic area of Montessu* (CI), the Nuragic Objects* of Sardinia and Archaeological Objects in Piazza Palazzo and in the Cathedral of St. Mary’s (CA). Interventions that fall into the training activities at Masters on Cultural Heritage in support activities to research and restoration of Cultural Heritage, and creation of digital contents to support museum communication. * Collaboration with the University and the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Cagliari

HyperGround HyperRoofs HyperGround is a product of Hyperspaces™ with the purpose of the representation of the underground for cities and regional areas. As result of the combination of 3D G.I.S. and photorealistic 3D modeling elaboration, HyperGround finds its main application within planning and data analisys of surveys of utilities (of both above and underground). HyperGround represents the results of nondestructive technologies, such as G.P.R.

(Ground Probing Radar), together with complex carthographical techniques, for the restitution of precise DTM (Digital Terrain Models) and maps. The information is represented with georeferred maps, classified with different and specific layers, granting immediate access to a model easy to understand and to manage for planning purposes. The data implementation within 3D G.I.S. environments, associated with hyperlinks to the main document formats, extends the field of application of the tool. Moreover, HyperGround can be extended to the representation of archaeological and research assets.

The roofs of the buildings are an important energy resource. HyperRoofs is the Hyperspaces™’ product that it quantifies the extent, in order to identify the most efficient solution while purchasing solar technologies (photovoltaic and thermal). With a precision of centimeters, HyperRoofs consists in the dimensional and georeferenced analysis of any roof of

a city. In addition, the possibility to perform calculations and realistic simulations of shading annual average is possible. HyperRoofs allows for beneficiaries and suppliers of technical installations to choose the more suited solar technologies for every kind of roof based on its features without the need of surveys, but through the software that evaluates the potential of electricity and heat production by means of energy conversion sun. In addition to the dimensional and geometrical calculations, is the calculation of the pay back related to the investment, depending on the technology, the type and model of the system chosen. All data are managed through a database associated with a G.I.S. in which buildings are geo-referenced to international standards. The G.I.S., with reference to the definition of policies for energy planning, it allows the continuous upgrading of the production potential of entire estates, both public and private. With HyperRoofs, Hyperspaces supports the local administrations in drafting the PECS (Plan Municipal Energy Solar).

HyperProject

Hyperspaces™ does not only represent the reality but provides its own solutions to the protection and development of the territory. HyperProject is the Hyperspaces™’s section that carries out architectural and urban landscape and housing research and design. The design approach is based on two main aspects: the integration between architecture and landscape on one side and the search for the raison d’être of any other specific project, to enable effective adaptation to the context of the contemporary city on the other side. The main work HyperProject have been awarded and the quality of proposals in local and international competitions has been recognized. Within those results, the design of an urban area in De Sphinx quartier in Maastricht (Europan 10, mentioned) can be mentioned or the study of modular housing units in Athens (upto35). In addition to the design of various housing interventions (Vallermosa) HyperProject develops projects in the cultural and

exhibition fields. The project shared network of cultural sites Cagliari (City as a museum. Museum as a system) is a project that the Municipality of Cagliari intends to achieve within the ‘cultural district’ (PG4-AP2) Strategic Plan, with the involvement of all levels of government by the municipality to the Ministry of Culture. In the field of exhibition design is reported the Identity design of the Multimedia Museum ‘Città dell’Impresa’ in Cagliari.

Hyperspaces™’s headquarter is in Cagliari. Has a branch in Rotterdam. The working network is distributed across Europe. From Cagliari to Milan, from Rotterdam to Salamanca, the team operates in a coordinated manner via web reducing physical barriers and maximizing productivity. This, however, without sacrifi cing the physical meetings considered essential from an organizational point of view. The external expertises and partnerships further amplify Hyperspaces™ range.
