February 2012 Simplify MAPPING

Coming Up It’s shaping up to be a busy autumn here in Australia and abroad. With two airborne hyperspectral HyMap sensors and an Ultracam-D large format digital camera ready for deployment and aircraft leased, HyVista Corporation will be operational as indicated below.

OZ100K

The successful 2007 deployment with the USGS to Afghanistan saw some 440,000 sq km imaged by our HyMap flying at 50,000ft. This is about ~95% of Afghanistan and was achieved in only 20 flights. Spatial resolution was in the range of 17-23 m and subsequent processing of the imagery by the USGS has demonstrated the efficiency of generating geological and mineral maps and identifying prospective areas for economic mineral deposits. HyVista Corporation is undertaking a short acquisition project in late February to demonstrate a similar capability in Australia. Immediately following HyVista Corporation’s release by the NSW Rural Fire Service from fire detection and mapping duties, a HyMap will be deployed in its high altitude configuration to western NSW. Weather permitting within the short deployment window available, HyVista will acquire hyperspectral imagery over two 1:100k map sheets in northwest NSW at a spatial resolution of 15m and six 1:100k map sheets in the northern Flinders Ranges at a spatial resolution of 25m. Total area covered in 2 days will be approximately 16,000 sq km. HyVista will process these data to produce seamless mineral maps and present the results for review by interested organisations.

Western Australia - March Following a very successful deployment to WA in November 2011, HyMap is again heading west around mid-March to undertake contracted mineral exploration surveys over several thousand square kilometers. In WA, current survey areas range from Halls Creek to Kalgoorlie. HyVista will also have its Ultracam-D high resolution camera on board thus permitting simultaneous acquisition of hyperspectral imagery and digital camera imagery (providing high resolution DEM's and othophotos). It is not too late to book in your site and get some savings through shared deployment costs. Opportunities also exist to do "Ferry Survey" in SA, NSW and NT.

Back to Africa

Another HyMap is headed back to Africa in March for surveys in Namibia for the Namibian Geological Survey and then onto Morocco where HyVista will undertake a 11,000 sq km survey under contract to the ONHYM. This will be our 6th visit to the wonderful Namibia where we have done surveys for both the government and a number of companies. Our presence in Namibia opens up opportunities for further surveys in Namibia and beyond (South Africa, Angola, Botswana and Mozambique).
