THE MISTERY OF DNA . BY ROS
ROSALIND FRANKLIN I was born in Notting Hill, London, in an affluent and influential British Jewish family. My father is Ellis Franklin and my mother is Muriel Waley . I was educated at St Paul's Girls' School where I was really good at Science, Latin, and sports.
BROTHERS AND SISTER I have 4 brothers : - Jennifer Glynn ( born in 1929 ) - Colin Franklin ( born in 1923) - Roland Franklin ( born in 1932 ) - David Franklin ( born in 1919 )
CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY When I was 18 , I went to Cambridge Univertisy where I got a degree . At Newnham College I studied Chemistry‌.. I remember that as if it was yesterday .
PARIS In 1946, I was appointed to the Laboratoire Central des Services Chimiques de l’ Etat in Paris, where I worked with crystallographer Jacques Mering. He taught me X-ray diffraction and I made images crystallized solids in analyzing complex.
DNA In January 1951 , I began working at King’s College London where I studied the DNA structure with X-ray diffraction.
DNA I took part in the second Congress of Vienna and then I thought that the DNA could have two forms . Later , I did some experiments and that’s what I found out : when the DNA is rich of water, its fiber is long and slim ( form B ) ; when it doesn’t contain water, its form is natural ( form A ).
DNA I’m so sad, I don’t know wh y exactly…. may be because th e community co uld not rewar d me, even if no body else has done better t han me sofar. Let’s hope ....
