Beforehand, I’m sorry to say that maybe your country report isn’t included in this newsletter because there aren’t many to be reported, over the deadline, or also doesn’t get as the requirements that I already gave to you. But don’t worry! I’m hoping for the next month, your country activities will appear as you submit it as soon as possible! Meet the EB/CB of 19/20 EXECUTIVE BOARD Diogo Oliveira Rita | President of IAAS World Hello everybody! My name is Diogo Rita from IAAS Portugal and I am 24 years old! My bachelor was in Food Engineering and now the Master I am already doing is in Viticulture and Enology. I am really happy to belong to the EB as President. I believe that IAAS can be even better, professional and promote the Exchange of knowledge even better. We can be present even in more countries than we are now! My name is Adu Richard, a proud member of IAAS GHANA and an undergraduate student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi reading Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Agricultural Economics). Asmita Gaire | Membership Officer Control Board Hello everyone. I am Asmita Gaire from Nepal. I am an undergraduate student in veterinary science and animal husbandry from Institute of agriculture and animal science Paklihawa, Tribhuvan University. IAAS has been an integral part of my life since 2017 boosting up my skills, confidence and leadership skills in the field of agriculture and related sciences and I was always motivated to take IAAS to the topmost level taking altogether and now being a Control Board member of IAASWorld it’s my honour and responsibility to make the trust of IAASers come true along with provide complete justice to the very position. Greetings from Morocco ❤ I'm Hajar Haybout a 21 year-old moroccan with great ambitions, former ND of IAAS Morocco, as well as a very active member of the IAAS network. I currently study Agronomy and majoring in Ecology and management of natural ecosystems. Joining the CB for this year was a furfillement of one of my long-term goals I've set the first time I joined IAAS. My main motivation and objective is to make sure we have better transparency in our association, create a better communication environment and assure better ways of bonding the different committees. BANGLADESH IAAS PSTU Research Methodology Training

To assist the undergraduate and post-graduate students of PSTU in research work, IAAS Bangladesh PSTU take a great initiative to provide training on Research Methodology. Objective of this training is to provide essential knowledge on Research Methodology. Research Methodology refers to a set of systematic method necessary for conducting an empirical research. Knowing the steps of writing a research-based manuscript and knowing the steps of conducting a research are different. In order to make a research more credible and reliable a researcher must know the complete methodology of conducting an empirical and systematic research. This training is suitable for any discipline students of PSTU. This training is 1.5 months long. Professor Dr Mamun Ur Rasid is conducting the training and teaching the way to be a good researcher.

IAAS Louvain-la-Neuve Open Meeting and Team Building

At September 23rd, 2019 IAAS LLN has held open meeting with old members of IAAS LLN. They gave a global presentation about IAAS, while some old members from LLN also talked about their experiences and free french fries for everyone! The old members were super excited to come and were happy to give lots of details about their adventures with IAAS. They clearly motivated a bunch of people.

BELGIUM French fries was the perfect attraction and in the end, IAAS LLN had around 25 new members, of which 9 wanted to be active members.

Team Building + First Meeting

On September 30th, 2019, IAAS LLN just finished their Team Building and First Meeting of their new term. Paricipated by 15 members with several activities alongside with their meeting. At the frist they played some name-games to get to know everyone, then brainstormed about the international weekend that they’ll be organising and about the other events they want to organise this semester. Afterwards they went bowling with the whole team.

CHILE Vintage of Isla del Maipo April 6th, 2019 - Chile

In this review, we will show all IAAS Chile’s activities during the year. We have been motivated and working hard with our National Committee and actives members. We had the opportunity to receive Diogo Rita (IAAS Portugal) and Raquel Jimenez (IAAS Spain), IAAS members who participated actively in different events. ExCo Chile 2020 it’s coming, there is a lot of team work to do. Here we can show some of our meetings, always looking forward for the best for our future participants. We participate in an event of vintage, we showed to the IAAS members from Portugal and Spain about the wine from Chile.

Vintage Fest in Santiago April

2019 - Chile

Different vineyards participated in this fest, in Santiago, from all Chilean Valleys producers of wine. We had the opportunity to participate by having a degustation from different types of wine and wineries. We make this visit helpful for exchange of knowledge and culture for our IAAS President Diogo Rita from IAAS Portugal.

Natural History Museum April 12th, 2019 - Chile We visited the natural history museum with IAAS members from Portugal and Spain, inside the museum we saw different weathers on Chile from the north to the south and the wild animals and plants.

National Meeting Universidad Mayor August 14th, 2019 - Chile A different lunch at school, brainstorming and working for the activities, logo, schedule, visit, etc. for ExCo Meeting 2020.

‘FIA’ (Foundation for Agricultural Innovation) August 28th, 2019 - Chile The main purpose of this activity was to carry out a ‘focus group’, where an instance of information exchange, share entrepreneurial experiences, meet companies with a loan of services related to Meeting with FIA processed food area. Active and national August 27th, 2019 - Chile committee’s members participated. We had a strategy meeting with a government institution, to show the program of ExCo Meeting 2020 and looking forward for a partnership for the event.

EXPRO Switzerland by Andrea Calderón August 17th, 2019 – September 27th, 2019 A IAAS member of Ecuador was experienced her Exchange Program to Farm Neuhaus Thoringen, Switzerland. With several activities that she’d such like picking fruits or vegetables, cultive the crops, vegetables and trees, keep, clean and fill up the self service farm shop, selling products on a small July 22nd, 2019 – September 29th, 2019 market, different jobs around the house. Another member of IAAS Ecuador also did his Exchange Program to Farm Stammheimer Hopgentrof, Switzerland. With the main job to be the assistance in seasonal work on the farm with vines, hops, and agrotourism.

World Clean Up Day Ecuador September 21st, 2019 (Quito, Ecuador) World Cleaning Day is a global program aimed at combating the global problem of solid waste, including the problem of marine waste. The event has been held in Las Cuadas Park, Quito, with 12 participants joined this activity.

Workshop and Socialization of SDGs September 26th, 2019 An interesting meeting, we learned what are the objectives of sustainable development and work to help achieve them with projects and initiatives.

FRANCE Integration of New Members September 4th, 2019 IAAS France just got their new members. Some activities such like presentation about IAAS to the new students including the new committee, aim of IAAS, and activities during this year. The integration also done with quiz activities about countries and their culture. After that, they done their first meeting for making several planning for the entire year.

GUATEMALA SOCIAAS (VCP) August 2nd, 2019 (Jalapa Mountain, Guatemala) On August 2 we had a reforestation in the water recharge area of Jalapa Mountain, where we planted more than 200 trees

National Meeting August 16th – 18th , 2019 IAAS Guatemala National Meeting was held from August 16 to 18, event in which members of IAAS Guatemala met in order to exchange experiences and improve the organization, within the activities general assemblies, conferences and technical visits to plots of land were held. agricultural production.

GUATEMALA MONUGUA: The United Nations Model for Guatemala September 20th – 21st, 2019 (Guatemala) The United Nations model for Guatemala -MONUGUA- was held in the city of old Guatemala from September 20 to 21, the guys of IAAS Guatemala achieved an outstanding performance as part of the United Nations Environment Program Committee UNEP where topics focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals SDG 12 and 13 were addressed, are: Production and Responsible Consumption and Climate Action

NEPAL New Members Recruitment of IAAS Nepal AFU-LC September 24th, 2019 (Nepal) On 24th August 2019, an orientation program to the 32 newly selected members of IAAS Nepal AFU-LC was held with a short introduction and interaction session with them. The members were welcomed with a welcome speech by Sangam Ghimire (VP of Finance), presentation speech on past activities of IAAS by Sobita Subedi, challenges in IAAS by Bhawana Regmi(VP of external relation) and a motivational speech on “Leadership” by Soniya Bashyal.

Marigold Cultivation July 11th, 2019 (Nepal) Marigold Cultivation practice based on production was held by IAAS LC-AFU. Our activities including transplanting the flower, creating irrigation systems for the plant, cuttings the flower, disbudding of whole buds, spraying of organic liquid manure, and staking for the lodged plants with stick. This practice are still going on, which have been providing lots of knowledge related to the field problems and their management.

National Rice Day June 30th , 2019 (Nepal) LC CNRM Puranchaur On the auspicious occasion of National Rice Day on Ashad 15 (June 30), our local committee organized an interaction programme with the farmers in the rice field. The farmers were helped transplanting rice in the field. Singing and dancing on the field with the farmers, interacting about the importance of National Rice Day in this locality with them, providing Dahi-Chiura were the major activities of the event. Another major activity of this local committee was Organizing a workshop on Non-Violent Communication. The session was conducted by Mr. Shree Ram Timilsina on 11th of August. The session was so helpful to all the students. The workshop included anger management and situation dealing sessions.

NEPAL Debate Competition by IAAS LC HICAST August 9th , 2019 (Nepal) On August 9, 2019, IAAS LC HICAST organized debate competition on the topic 'Suitability of Hydroponics as an alternative to conventional land farming practice of Nepal'. Hydroponics refers to a method of growing plants without soil by using mineral nutrient solutions in water solvent whereas conventional farming system refers to growing plants on land. Viewing the good and bad aspects of both the farming system the committee decided to conduct debate on this topic.

Plant Health Clinic with IDE Nepal August 25th , 2019 (Nepal) IAAS LC HICAST organized Plant health clinic on collaboration with IDE Nepal at Mahangkal village of Lele, Lalitpur on 25th of August, 2019 with an objective to engage students into field based works where they can practically implement their learning and to get familiar to the major diseases and pests in the village. Plant clinic is a diagnostic service that aims to impart regular and reliable technical supports and advises to the farmers covering all plants and types of problems.

Farm Exchange August 13th , 2019 (Nepal) IAAS Nepal LC Lamjung is giving continuity to exchange program at `Ghimire Ekikrit Farm´, Lamjung. Our members revisited the farm. We transplanted the 21 days old seedlings of hybrid varieties of cauliflower and cabbage. We transplanted the seedlings in ridge and furrow method. We are hoping for the best results.

IAAS LC Lamjung Local Congress September 19th , 2019 (Nepal) The program first began with informal session by Pragya Sagar Subedi (National Director). He conducted a workshop session on Thinking through Design, the importance and the ways of branded photos. After having some snacks we continued the formal session. The program was formally inaugurated by Chief Guest (Thaneshwor Bhandari), Special Guest (Pragya Sagar Subedi) and Chairperson (Nirmal Sapkota) by watering the Bonsai. A short welcome speech was given by Roshni Manandhar. Also brief information about IAAS WORLD, IAAS ASIA-PACIFIC REGION and IAAS NEPAL was presented by our host (Soni Thapa). Our Chief Guest, Assistant Professor (Department of Economics) Thaneshwor Bhandari gave us ideas about activities to be performed by our committee. He also encouraged us to conduct more activities. Our Local Director Nirmal Sapkota presented the annual report of all the activities conducted within a year. This session was interactive by questions and suggestions. After this annual report presentation, participants amended the IAAS LC Constitution through discussion which was led by Mr. Balkrishna Dahal (Control Board of IAAS NEPAL). Our Special Guest Pragya Sagar Subedi was given a Token of Love as a small gift.

Junk Art Comptetion September 19th , 2019 (Nepal) IAAS Paklihawa

IAAS Collective Campaign for Rabies Awareness and Vaccination September 22nd – 28th , 2019 (Nepal) IAAS Paklihawa IAAS Nepal LC Paklihawa, in collaboration with Veterinary Teaching Hospital and other 7 organisations of Institute Of Agriculture And Animal Sciences (IAAS) organised “IAAS collective campaign for rabies awareness and vaccination”. This was a week long event where we performed a series of programs based on the theme of rabies awareness.

IAAS Belgrade Alumni Meeting June-September, 2019 (Belgrade, Serbia) IAAS Belgrade in period from June until now had their own activity with IAAS Alumni members. In this meeting they having such like planning for next event, especially in preparation for ICYA 2020 which IAAS Serbia is officially choosen as the host for the next ICYA>

SWITZERLAND Expro Day We had a day out with the Exchange Program students, and we visited Lucerne with them. This was a good opportunity to get feedback from the exchange students and to get to know them better.

Welcome Activity for New Students We had an open meeting with cake, and we introduced IAAS Switzerland and our activities. We showed them the events from last year and promoted the upcoming events. Nearly 30 new students signed up to our newsletter after this meeting.
