Figure 47 Spatial analysis of monumentality across India-Pakistan border

There were discovered to be 67 monuments in total, with 44 structures in India, 22 in Pakistan, and one shared bridge in Jammu and Kashmir. Monuments (monolithic structures) were the most common type of structure built in memory of the martyrs along the border. The divided state of Punjab has the most of these structures, with 19 in Pakistan and 19 in India. There are 18 such structures in India's Jammu and Kashmir. The largest structure in terms of total square meters occupied was Pakistan's Kartarpur Temple, while the smallest were the Kos Minars (ancient milestones of the Mughal empire).(Sibi n.d.)

The survey was expanded by categorizing them based on their functional typology, which included everything from war monuments and memorials to government buildings and religious structures. The typology study of these structures reveals the functioning and spatial analysis of the built space, as well as the essence of cultural and socioeconomic unity contained within it.
