IACC trend research, Industrieele Groote Club’s hotel and Amsterdam Mövenpick expands.
IACC trend research: more corporate meetings
The International Association of Conference Centres (IACC) has recently published its 2015 study on “Trends in the Conference Center Industry”. The recently published study from EventMonitor also shows that especially the corporate meeting venues have a growth in their revenues. IACC CEO Mark Cooper says: “Corporate meeting venues lead the recovery with the highest Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue per Occupied Room (RevPOR). Given the package plan represents 90% of this group of IACC-members’ business, it can be assumed that corporate customers are investing significantly in training and meetings and in their use of member venues.” Increase participation in one-day meeting locations The participation in this research of one-day meeting locations has increased and therefore provides valuable research data on this growing category of members of IACC. The one-day meeting locations reported 12% increase in the price for a day package. For 2016, all types of accommodation have predicted a higher occupancy, in particular the corporate meeting locations predicted the highest growth. Conference Hotels with more than 200 rooms have achieved a 6.5% growth in utilization over the last year and also predict that for this year. Source: www.congreswereld.nl/nieuws

Already we are noticing that national and international clients like to book the rooms. It is a beautiful extension to the already existing monumental halls.”
Mövenpick Amsterdam expands with 10 additional meeting rooms The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre has added 10 additional meeting rooms to its inventory, right next to the hotel, called ‘Meeting Centre 2’. Munch and Van Gogh meet in Amsterdam Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum brings together two of the trailblazers of modern art for a unique exhibition running from 25 September 2015 to 17 January 2016. With this exhibition, the similarities between the two highly influential artists are researched in detail for the first time. Edvard Munch (1863-1944) and Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) are both known for their highly personal, expressive visual language, emotionally charged paintings and drawings and, not least importantly, their lives full of hardship. Their art is intense, expressive and radical.

Iconic artworks Among the more than one hundred artworks on display, there are several iconic masterpieces and works that are rarely on loan, including Munch’s ‘The Scream’ and ‘Madonna’ and Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night over the Rhone’ and ‘Patience Escalier’ (‘The Farmer’). As such, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see an important part of the work of both artists in one location. For more information, visit the Van Gogh Museum’s website.

Museum of Bags and Purses Exclusive venue in Amsterdam’s historic centre The Museum of Bags and Purses is housed in one of the jewels of the Amsterdam canals: a lovely, authentic 17th-century canal house with a long and colourful history. Over the years, the building has essentially been kept in its original state, and both the interior and exterior have an impressive story to tell. On the first floor, two period rooms were recently restored to their original splendour, and can now be booked for all sorts of events and occasions. The rich and elegant period rooms are decorated with beautiful works of art by great masters from the 17th- and 18th-century. Both the small and the large period room strike a perfect balance between the refinement of the past and the modern facilities of today, making them an ideal setting for special occasions for groups of 5 to 55 guests. A private museum The historical rooms are suited for business meetings, receptions, dinner parties or even an elegant winter gathering. The period rooms can be hired separately or as a pair, and we also offer the unique possibility of hiring the entire venue after opening hours, giving you the opportunity to have your own private museum. The rooms are facilitated with all the equipment necessary for your event. In addition to offering standard arrangements that fit your needs, the Museum of Bags and Purses is also happy to create a customised offer to fit your special wishes. Make your event extra special with an inspiring tour through the museum, led by one of our dedicated guides who will tell you about the exquisite collection, the start of the museum and the history of the canal house. Venues TAETS Art and Event Park
EYE
Industrial heritage as a modern top venue TAETS Art and Event Park is a unique event location situated in wonderful industrial and monumental buildings at the Amsterdam North Sea Canal. Although the terrain’s character and its direct surroundings refer to days long gone, the location is equipped with all modern conveniences. Taets is the ultimate location for exclusive exhibitions, product launches, conferences, meetings, dinners, or other corporate events.
Meeting possibilities at the EYE Would you like to hold your next meeting along the IJ waterfront, or give a presentation on the big screen of a movie theatre? If so, then why not do it at the EYE Film Museum or add an extra, special tour to your programme? EYE offers four cinemas, three meeting rooms and a foyer, and the entire venue is also available for rent one day per month. This variety enables us to satisfy a broad range of wishes for events large and small: a conference with 300 participants, a company party with 900 colleagues, or an intimate dinner for 30 people.
The buildings of Taets are part of the industrial heritage Hembrug area which dates from 1897. The Hembrug area is a former ammunition factory in the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Defence Line of Amsterdam. At the moment the Hembrug area is building a reputation for itself as an international top location for the creative industry. The spacious and historical surroundings allow all kinds of set ups for both small and large events. By combining 2 monumental buildings with a 6,000m2 Black Box, an Event Garden and a large free of charge parking area, Taets is a most remarkable and creative event location in the Amsterdam region, only 10 minutes drive from Amsterdam city centre and 15 minutes drive from Schiphol Airport. Taets 10,000m2 event park divided over: Building 41 | Gallery & Theatre, Building 43 | Event Area (650m2) & Meeting Area (8 Meeting rooms), Hal 1 | Black Box (6,000m2 hosts up to 4,000 persons in theatre style), the Restaurant, a nice Event Garden and a big parking area (1,000 cars). The various spaces available at EYE can be rented for meetings, lectures, conferences, business presentations, workshops and, of course, film screenings. Dinners, cocktail parties, and receptions are also possible, as is the option to rent the entire location for a major event on one day each month. Furthermore, you can also get married or celebrate an anniversary in our building. Because of its location directly across from Central Station, EYE is very easy to reach by public transport: a free ferry sails back and forth across the IJ, 24 hours a day. For visitors arriving by car, there is a municipal parking lot located behind the EYE building, and the cost for parking there is just €2 per hour.

The combination of the primary central location, typical Amsterdam architecture, high standards and years of experience with international conferences and events makes it one of the most desired conference centres today. Built as an exchange building in 1903 by a very famous Dutch architect (H.P. Berlage), it offers a wide variety of halls, welcoming many international conferences and dinners for up to 1,200 delegates every year. One of the most famous and memorable events that have taken place within its walls is the civil ceremony of the Royal wedding of King Willem-Alexander and (the now Queen) Maxima in 2002. Beurs van Berlage is very easily accessible and located between Dam Square and Amsterdam Central Station with seven direct trains per hour and only 15 minutes away from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Your delegates can also take advantage of the Beurs van Berlage Hotelservice, an efficient hotel booking tool that provides access to more than 4,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the centre at the lowest prices, guaranteed.
