CHAPTER1

1ThesebethewordswhichMosesspakeuntoallIsraelon thissideJordaninthewilderness,intheplainoveragainst theRedsea,betweenParan,andTophel,andLaban,and Hazeroth,andDizahab.

2(Thereareelevendays'journeyfromHorebbytheway ofmountSeiruntoKadeshbarnea.)

3Anditcametopassinthefortiethyear,intheeleventh month,onthefirstdayofthemonth,thatMosesspakeunto thechildrenofIsrael,accordinguntoallthattheLORDhad givenhimincommandmentuntothem;

4AfterhehadslainSihonthekingoftheAmorites,which dweltinHeshbon,andOgthekingofBashan,whichdwelt atAstarothinEdrei:

5OnthissideJordan,inthelandofMoab,beganMosesto declarethislaw,saying,

6TheLORDourGodspakeuntousinHoreb,saying,Ye havedweltlongenoughinthismount:

7Turnyou,andtakeyourjourney,andgotothemountof theAmorites,anduntoalltheplacesnighthereunto,inthe plain,inthehills,andinthevale,andinthesouth,andby theseaside,tothelandoftheCanaanites,andunto Lebanon,untothegreatriver,theriverEuphrates

8Behold,Ihavesetthelandbeforeyou:goinandpossess thelandwhichtheLORDswareuntoyourfathers, Abraham,Isaac,andJacob,togiveuntothemandtotheir seedafterthem

9AndIspakeuntoyouatthattime,saying,Iamnotable tobearyoumyselfalone:

10TheLORDyourGodhathmultipliedyou,and,behold, yearethisdayasthestarsofheavenformultitude.

11(TheLORDGodofyourfathersmakeyouathousand timessomanymoreasyeare,andblessyou,ashehath promisedyou!)

12HowcanImyselfalonebearyourcumbrance,andyour burden,andyourstrife?

13Takeyouwisemen,andunderstanding,andknown amongyourtribes,andIwillmakethemrulersoveryou

14Andyeansweredme,andsaid,Thethingwhichthou hastspokenisgoodforustodo.

15SoItookthechiefofyourtribes,wisemen,andknown, andmadethemheadsoveryou,captainsoverthousands, andcaptainsoverhundreds,andcaptainsoverfifties,and captainsovertens,andofficersamongyourtribes 16AndIchargedyourjudgesatthattime,saying,Hearthe causesbetweenyourbrethren,andjudgerighteously betweeneverymanandhisbrother,andthestrangerthatis withhim.

17Yeshallnotrespectpersonsinjudgment;butyeshall hearthesmallaswellasthegreat;yeshallnotbeafraidof thefaceofman;forthejudgmentisGod's:andthecause thatistoohardforyou,bringituntome,andIwillhearit 18AndIcommandedyouatthattimeallthethingswhich yeshoulddo.

19AndwhenwedepartedfromHoreb,wewentthrough allthatgreatandterriblewilderness,whichyesawbythe wayofthemountainoftheAmorites,astheLORDour Godcommandedus;andwecametoKadeshbarnea

20AndIsaiduntoyou,Yearecomeuntothemountainof theAmorites,whichtheLORDourGoddothgiveuntous 21Behold,theLORDthyGodhathsetthelandbeforethee: goupandpossessit,astheLORDGodofthyfathershath saiduntothee;fearnot,neitherbediscouraged 22Andyecamenearuntomeeveryoneofyou,andsaid, Wewillsendmenbeforeus,andtheyshallsearchusout theland,andbringuswordagainbywhatwaywemustgo up,andintowhatcitiesweshallcome.

23Andthesayingpleasedmewell:andItooktwelvemen ofyou,oneofatribe:

24Andtheyturnedandwentupintothemountain,and cameuntothevalleyofEshcol,andsearcheditout

25Andtheytookofthefruitofthelandintheirhands,and broughtitdownuntous,andbroughtuswordagain,and said,ItisagoodlandwhichtheLORDourGoddothgive us

26Notwithstandingyewouldnotgoup,butrebelled againstthecommandmentoftheLORDyourGod: 27Andyemurmuredinyourtents,andsaid,Becausethe LORDhatedus,hehathbroughtusforthoutofthelandof Egypt,todeliverusintothehandoftheAmorites,to destroyus.

28Whithershallwegoup?ourbrethrenhavediscouraged ourheart,saying,Thepeopleisgreaterandtallerthanwe; thecitiesaregreatandwalleduptoheaven;andmoreover wehaveseenthesonsoftheAnakimsthere.

29ThenIsaiduntoyou,Dreadnot,neitherbeafraidof them

30TheLORDyourGodwhichgoethbeforeyou,heshall fightforyou,accordingtoallthathedidforyouinEgypt beforeyoureyes;

31Andinthewilderness,wherethouhastseenhowthat theLORDthyGodbarethee,asamandothbearhisson, inallthewaythatyewent,untilyecameintothisplace.

32YetinthisthingyedidnotbelievetheLORDyourGod, 33Whowentinthewaybeforeyou,tosearchyououta placetopitchyourtentsin,infirebynight,toshewyouby whatwayyeshouldgo,andinacloudbyday

34AndtheLORDheardthevoiceofyourwords,andwas wroth,andsware,saying,

35Surelythereshallnotoneofthesemenofthisevil generationseethatgoodland,whichIswaretogiveunto yourfathers,

36SaveCalebthesonofJephunneh;heshallseeit,andto himwillIgivethelandthathehathtroddenupon,andto hischildren,becausehehathwhollyfollowedtheLORD.

37AlsotheLORDwasangrywithmeforyoursakes, saying,Thoualsoshaltnotgointhither

38ButJoshuathesonofNun,whichstandethbeforethee, heshallgointhither:encouragehim:forheshallcause Israeltoinheritit

39Moreoveryourlittleones,whichyesaidshouldbea prey,andyourchildren,whichinthatdayhadno knowledgebetweengoodandevil,theyshallgointhither, anduntothemwillIgiveit,andtheyshallpossessit.

40Butasforyou,turnyou,andtakeyourjourneyintothe wildernessbythewayoftheRedsea

41Thenyeansweredandsaiduntome,Wehavesinned againsttheLORD,wewillgoupandfight,accordingtoall thattheLORDourGodcommandedusAndwhenyehad girdedoneverymanhisweaponsofwar,yewerereadyto goupintothehill

42AndtheLORDsaiduntome,Sayuntothem,Gonotup, neitherfight;forIamnotamongyou;lestyebesmitten beforeyourenemies

43SoIspakeuntoyou;andyewouldnothear,butrebelled againstthecommandmentoftheLORD,andwent presumptuouslyupintothehill

44AndtheAmorites,whichdweltinthatmountain,came outagainstyou,andchasedyou,asbeesdo,anddestroyed youinSeir,evenuntoHormah.

45AndyereturnedandweptbeforetheLORD;butthe LORDwouldnothearkentoyourvoice,norgiveearunto you

46SoyeabodeinKadeshmanydays,accordinguntothe daysthatyeabodethere.

CHAPTER2

1Thenweturned,andtookourjourneyintothewilderness bythewayoftheRedsea,astheLORDspakeuntome: andwecompassedmountSeirmanydays.

2AndtheLORDspakeuntome,saying,

3Yehavecompassedthismountainlongenough:turnyou northward.

4Andcommandthouthepeople,saying,Yearetopass throughthecoastofyourbrethrenthechildrenofEsau, whichdwellinSeir;andtheyshallbeafraidofyou:takeye goodheeduntoyourselvestherefore:

5Meddlenotwiththem;forIwillnotgiveyouoftheir land,no,notsomuchasafootbreadth;becauseIhave givenmountSeiruntoEsauforapossession

6Yeshallbuymeatofthemformoney,thatyemayeat; andyeshallalsobuywaterofthemformoney,thatyemay drink

7FortheLORDthyGodhathblessedtheeinalltheworks ofthyhand:heknoweththywalkingthroughthisgreat wilderness:thesefortyyearstheLORDthyGodhathbeen withthee;thouhastlackednothing

8Andwhenwepassedbyfromourbrethrenthechildren ofEsau,whichdweltinSeir,throughthewayoftheplain fromElath,andfromEziongaber,weturnedandpassedby thewayofthewildernessofMoab.

9AndtheLORDsaiduntome,DistressnottheMoabites, neithercontendwiththeminbattle:forIwillnotgivethee oftheirlandforapossession;becauseIhavegivenArunto thechildrenofLotforapossession

10TheEmimsdweltthereinintimespast,apeoplegreat, andmany,andtall,astheAnakims; 11Whichalsowereaccountedgiants,astheAnakims;but theMoabitescallthemEmims.

12TheHorimsalsodweltinSeirbeforetime;butthe childrenofEsausucceededthem,whentheyhaddestroyed themfrombeforethem,anddweltintheirstead;asIsrael diduntothelandofhispossession,whichtheLORDgave untothem

13Nowriseup,saidI,andgetyouoverthebrookZered. AndwewentoverthebrookZered

14AndthespaceinwhichwecamefromKadeshbarnea, untilwewerecomeoverthebrookZered,wasthirtyand eightyears;untilallthegenerationofthemenofwarwere wastedoutfromamongthehost,astheLORDswareunto them.

15ForindeedthehandoftheLORDwasagainstthem,to destroythemfromamongthehost,untiltheywere consumed

16Soitcametopass,whenallthemenofwarwere consumedanddeadfromamongthepeople, 17ThattheLORDspakeuntome,saying, 18ThouarttopassoverthroughAr,thecoastofMoab, thisday:

19Andwhenthoucomestnighoveragainstthechildrenof Ammon,distressthemnot,normeddlewiththem:forI willnotgivetheeofthelandofthechildrenofAmmonany possession;becauseIhavegivenituntothechildrenofLot forapossession

20(Thatalsowasaccountedalandofgiants:giantsdwelt thereininoldtime;andtheAmmonitescallthem Zamzummims;

21Apeoplegreat,andmany,andtall,astheAnakims;but theLORDdestroyedthembeforethem;andthey succeededthem,anddweltintheirstead:

22AshedidtothechildrenofEsau,whichdweltinSeir, whenhedestroyedtheHorimsfrombeforethem;andthey succeededthem,anddweltintheirsteadevenuntothisday: 23AndtheAvimswhichdweltinHazerim,evenunto Azzah,theCaphtorims,whichcameforthoutofCaphtor, destroyedthem,anddweltintheirstead)

24Riseyeup,takeyourjourney,andpassovertheriver Arnon:behold,IhavegivenintothinehandSihonthe Amorite,kingofHeshbon,andhisland:begintopossessit, andcontendwithhiminbattle.

25ThisdaywillIbegintoputthedreadoftheeandthe fearoftheeuponthenationsthatareunderthewhole heaven,whoshallhearreportofthee,andshalltremble, andbeinanguishbecauseofthee

26AndIsentmessengersoutofthewildernessof KedemothuntoSihonkingofHeshbonwithwordsof peace,saying,

27Letmepassthroughthyland:Iwillgoalongbythe highway,Iwillneitherturnuntotherighthandnortothe left

28Thoushaltsellmemeatformoney,thatImayeat;and givemewaterformoney,thatImaydrink:onlyIwillpass throughonmyfeet;

29(AsthechildrenofEsauwhichdwellinSeir,andthe MoabiteswhichdwellinAr,diduntome;)untilIshallpass overJordanintothelandwhichtheLORDourGodgiveth us

30ButSihonkingofHeshbonwouldnotletuspassbyhim: fortheLORDthyGodhardenedhisspirit,andmadehis heartobstinate,thathemightdeliverhimintothyhand,as appeareththisday

31AndtheLORDsaiduntome,Behold,Ihavebegunto giveSihonandhislandbeforethee:begintopossess,that thoumayestinherithisland

32ThenSihoncameoutagainstus,heandallhispeople, tofightatJahaz.

33AndtheLORDourGoddeliveredhimbeforeus;and wesmotehim,andhissons,andallhispeople

34Andwetookallhiscitiesatthattime,andutterly destroyedthemen,andthewomen,andthelittleones,of everycity,weleftnonetoremain:

35Onlythecattlewetookforapreyuntoourselves,and thespoilofthecitieswhichwetook

36FromAroer,whichisbythebrinkoftheriverofArnon, andfromthecitythatisbytheriver,evenuntoGilead, therewasnotonecitytoostrongforus:theLORDourGod deliveredalluntous:

37OnlyuntothelandofthechildrenofAmmonthou camestnot,noruntoanyplaceoftheriverJabbok,norunto thecitiesinthemountains,noruntowhatsoevertheLORD ourGodforbadus.

CHAPTER3

1Thenweturned,andwentupthewaytoBashan:andOg thekingofBashancameoutagainstus,heandallhis people,tobattleatEdrei.

2AndtheLORDsaiduntome,Fearhimnot:forIwill deliverhim,andallhispeople,andhisland,intothyhand; andthoushaltdountohimasthoudidstuntoSihonkingof theAmorites,whichdweltatHeshbon

3SotheLORDourGoddeliveredintoourhandsOgalso, thekingofBashan,andallhispeople:andwesmotehim untilnonewaslefttohimremaining

4Andwetookallhiscitiesatthattime,therewasnota citywhichwetooknotfromthem,threescorecities,allthe regionofArgob,thekingdomofOginBashan

5Allthesecitieswerefencedwithhighwalls,gates,and bars;besideunwalledtownsagreatmany.

6Andweutterlydestroyedthem,aswediduntoSihon kingofHeshbon,utterlydestroyingthemen,women,and children,ofeverycity.

7Butallthecattle,andthespoilofthecities,wetookfora preytoourselves

8Andwetookatthattimeoutofthehandofthetwokings oftheAmoritesthelandthatwasonthissideJordan,from theriverofArnonuntomountHermon;

9(WhichHermontheSidonianscallSirion;andthe AmoritescallitShenir;)

10Allthecitiesoftheplain,andallGilead,andallBashan, untoSalchahandEdrei,citiesofthekingdomofOgin Bashan

11ForonlyOgkingofBashanremainedoftheremnantof giants;behold,hisbedsteadwasabedsteadofiron;isitnot inRabbathofthechildrenofAmmon?ninecubitswasthe lengththereof,andfourcubitsthebreadthofit,afterthe cubitofaman.

12Andthisland,whichwepossessedatthattime,from Aroer,whichisbytheriverArnon,andhalfmountGilead, andthecitiesthereof,gaveIuntotheReubenitesandtothe Gadites

13AndtherestofGilead,andallBashan,beingthe kingdomofOg,gaveIuntothehalftribeofManasseh;all theregionofArgob,withallBashan,whichwascalledthe landofgiants.

14JairthesonofManassehtookallthecountryofArgob untothecoastsofGeshuriandMaachathi;andcalledthem afterhisownname,Bashanhavothjair,untothisday.

15AndIgaveGileaduntoMachir

16AnduntotheReubenitesanduntotheGaditesIgave fromGileadevenuntotheriverArnonhalfthevalley,and theborderevenuntotheriverJabbok,whichistheborder ofthechildrenofAmmon;

17Theplainalso,andJordan,andthecoastthereof,from Chinnerethevenuntotheseaoftheplain,eventhesaltsea, underAshdothpisgaheastward

18AndIcommandedyouatthattime,saying,TheLORD yourGodhathgivenyouthislandtopossessit:yeshall passoverarmedbeforeyourbrethrenthechildrenofIsrael, allthataremeetforthewar

19Butyourwives,andyourlittleones,andyourcattle, (forIknowthatyehavemuchcattle,)shallabideinyour citieswhichIhavegivenyou;

20UntiltheLORDhavegivenrestuntoyourbrethren,as wellasuntoyou,anduntiltheyalsopossessthelandwhich theLORDyourGodhathgiventhembeyondJordan:and thenshallyereturneverymanuntohispossession,whichI havegivenyou

21AndIcommandedJoshuaatthattime,saying,Thine eyeshaveseenallthattheLORDyourGodhathdoneunto thesetwokings:soshalltheLORDdountoallthe kingdomswhitherthoupassest

22Yeshallnotfearthem:fortheLORDyourGodheshall fightforyou

23AndIbesoughttheLORDatthattime,saying, 24OLordGOD,thouhastbeguntoshewthyservantthy greatness,andthymightyhand:forwhatGodistherein heavenorinearth,thatcandoaccordingtothyworks,and accordingtothymight?

25Ipraythee,letmegoover,andseethegoodlandthatis beyondJordan,thatgoodlymountain,andLebanon

26ButtheLORDwaswrothwithmeforyoursakes,and wouldnothearme:andtheLORDsaiduntome,Letit sufficethee;speaknomoreuntomeofthismatter

27GettheeupintothetopofPisgah,andliftupthineeyes westward,andnorthward,andsouthward,andeastward, andbeholditwiththineeyes:forthoushaltnotgooverthis Jordan.

28ButchargeJoshua,andencouragehim,andstrengthen him:forheshallgooverbeforethispeople,andheshall causethemtoinheritthelandwhichthoushaltsee.

29SoweabodeinthevalleyoveragainstBethpeor

CHAPTER4

1Nowthereforehearken,OIsrael,untothestatutesand untothejudgments,whichIteachyou,fortodothem,that yemaylive,andgoinandpossessthelandwhichthe LORDGodofyourfathersgivethyou.

2YeshallnotadduntothewordwhichIcommandyou, neithershallyediminishoughtfromit,thatyemaykeep thecommandmentsoftheLORDyourGodwhichI commandyou

3YoureyeshaveseenwhattheLORDdidbecauseof Baalpeor:forallthementhatfollowedBaalpeor,the LORDthyGodhathdestroyedthemfromamongyou

4ButyethatdidcleaveuntotheLORDyourGodarealive everyoneofyouthisday.

5Behold,Ihavetaughtyoustatutesandjudgments,even astheLORDmyGodcommandedme,thatyeshoulddoso inthelandwhitheryegotopossessit.

6Keepthereforeanddothem;forthisisyourwisdomand yourunderstandinginthesightofthenations,whichshall hearallthesestatutes,andsay,Surelythisgreatnationisa wiseandunderstandingpeople

7Forwhatnationistheresogreat,whohathGodsonigh untothem,astheLORDourGodisinallthingsthatwe calluponhimfor?

8Andwhatnationistheresogreat,thathathstatutesand judgmentssorighteousasallthislaw,whichIsetbefore youthisday?

9Onlytakeheedtothyself,andkeepthysouldiligently, lestthouforgetthethingswhichthineeyeshaveseen,and lesttheydepartfromthyheartallthedaysofthylife:but teachthemthysons,andthysons'sons;

10SpeciallythedaythatthoustoodestbeforetheLORD thyGodinHoreb,whentheLORDsaiduntome,Gather methepeopletogether,andIwillmakethemhearmy words,thattheymaylearntofearmeallthedaysthatthey shallliveupontheearth,andthattheymayteachtheir children

11Andyecamenearandstoodunderthemountain;and themountainburnedwithfireuntothemidstofheaven, withdarkness,clouds,andthickdarkness

12AndtheLORDspakeuntoyououtofthemidstofthe fire:yeheardthevoiceofthewords,butsawnosimilitude; onlyyeheardavoice

13Andhedeclareduntoyouhiscovenant,whichhe commandedyoutoperform,eventencommandments;and hewrotethemupontwotablesofstone

14AndtheLORDcommandedmeatthattimetoteach youstatutesandjudgments,thatyemightdotheminthe landwhitheryegoovertopossessit

15Takeyethereforegoodheeduntoyourselves;forye sawnomannerofsimilitudeonthedaythattheLORD spakeuntoyouinHoreboutofthemidstofthefire: 16Lestyecorruptyourselves,andmakeyouagraven image,thesimilitudeofanyfigure,thelikenessofmaleor female,

17Thelikenessofanybeastthatisontheearth,the likenessofanywingedfowlthatfliethintheair,

18Thelikenessofanythingthatcreepethontheground, thelikenessofanyfishthatisinthewatersbeneaththe earth:

19Andlestthouliftupthineeyesuntoheaven,andwhen thouseestthesun,andthemoon,andthestars,evenallthe hostofheaven,shouldestbedriventoworshipthem,and servethem,whichtheLORDthyGodhathdivideduntoall nationsunderthewholeheaven.

20ButtheLORDhathtakenyou,andbroughtyouforth outoftheironfurnace,evenoutofEgypt,tobeuntohima peopleofinheritance,asyearethisday.

21FurthermoretheLORDwasangrywithmeforyour sakes,andswarethatIshouldnotgooverJordan,andthat Ishouldnotgoinuntothatgoodland,whichtheLORD thyGodgiveththeeforaninheritance:

22ButImustdieinthisland,ImustnotgooverJordan: butyeshallgoover,andpossessthatgoodland

23Takeheeduntoyourselves,lestyeforgetthecovenant oftheLORDyourGod,whichhemadewithyou,and makeyouagravenimage,orthelikenessofanything, whichtheLORDthyGodhathforbiddenthee

24FortheLORDthyGodisaconsumingfire,evena jealousGod

25Whenthoushaltbegetchildren,andchildren'schildren, andyeshallhaveremainedlongintheland,andshall corruptyourselves,andmakeagravenimage,orthe likenessofanything,andshalldoevilinthesightofthe LORDthyGod,toprovokehimtoanger:

26Icallheavenandearthtowitnessagainstyouthisday, thatyeshallsoonutterlyperishfromofftheland

whereuntoyegooverJordantopossessit;yeshallnot prolongyourdaysuponit,butshallutterlybedestroyed

27AndtheLORDshallscatteryouamongthenations,and yeshallbeleftfewinnumberamongtheheathen,whither theLORDshallleadyou.

28Andthereyeshallservegods,theworkofmen'shands, woodandstone,whichneithersee,norhear,noreat,nor smell.

29ButiffromthencethoushaltseektheLORDthyGod, thoushaltfindhim,ifthouseekhimwithallthyheartand withallthysoul.

30Whenthouartintribulation,andallthesethingsare comeuponthee,eveninthelatterdays,ifthouturntothe LORDthyGod,andshaltbeobedientuntohisvoice;

31(FortheLORDthyGodisamercifulGod;)hewillnot forsakethee,neitherdestroythee,norforgetthecovenant ofthyfatherswhichheswareuntothem.

32Forasknowofthedaysthatarepast,whichwerebefore thee,sincethedaythatGodcreatedmanupontheearth, andaskfromtheonesideofheavenuntotheother, whethertherehathbeenanysuchthingasthisgreatthing is,orhathbeenheardlikeit?

33DideverpeoplehearthevoiceofGodspeakingoutof themidstofthefire,asthouhastheard,andlive?

34OrhathGodassayedtogoandtakehimanationfrom themidstofanothernation,bytemptations,bysigns,and bywonders,andbywar,andbyamightyhand,andbya stretchedoutarm,andbygreatterrors,accordingtoallthat theLORDyourGoddidforyouinEgyptbeforeyoureyes?

35Untotheeitwasshewed,thatthoumightestknowthat theLORDheisGod;thereisnoneelsebesidehim

36Outofheavenhemadetheetohearhisvoice,thathe mightinstructthee:anduponearthheshewedtheehis greatfire;andthouheardesthiswordsoutofthemidstof thefire.

37Andbecausehelovedthyfathers,thereforehechose theirseedafterthem,andbroughttheeoutinhissightwith hismightypoweroutofEgypt;

38Todriveoutnationsfrombeforetheegreaterand mightierthanthouart,tobringtheein,togivetheetheir landforaninheritance,asitisthisday.

39Knowthereforethisday,andconsideritinthineheart, thattheLORDheisGodinheavenabove,anduponthe earthbeneath:thereisnoneelse.

40Thoushaltkeepthereforehisstatutes,andhis commandments,whichIcommandtheethisday,thatit maygowellwiththee,andwiththychildrenafterthee,and thatthoumayestprolongthydaysupontheearth,which theLORDthyGodgiveththee,forever.

41ThenMosesseveredthreecitiesonthissideJordan towardthesunrising;

42Thattheslayermightfleethither,whichshouldkillhis neighbourunawares,andhatedhimnotintimespast;and thatfleeinguntooneofthesecitieshemightlive:

43Namely,Bezerinthewilderness,intheplaincountry, oftheReubenites;andRamothinGilead,oftheGadites; andGolaninBashan,oftheManassites

44AndthisisthelawwhichMosessetbeforethechildren ofIsrael:

45Thesearethetestimonies,andthestatutes,andthe judgments,whichMosesspakeuntothechildrenofIsrael, aftertheycameforthoutofEgypt,

46OnthissideJordan,inthevalleyoveragainstBethpeor, inthelandofSihonkingoftheAmorites,whodweltat Heshbon,whomMosesandthechildrenofIsraelsmote, aftertheywerecomeforthoutofEgypt:

47Andtheypossessedhisland,andthelandofOgkingof Bashan,twokingsoftheAmorites,whichwereonthisside Jordantowardthesunrising;

9Thoushaltnotbowdownthyselfuntothem,norserve them:forItheLORDthyGodamajealousGod,visiting theiniquityofthefathersuponthechildrenuntothethird andfourthgenerationofthemthathateme,

10Andshewingmercyuntothousandsofthemthatlove meandkeepmycommandments.

11ThoushaltnottakethenameoftheLORDthyGodin vain:fortheLORDwillnotholdhimguiltlessthattaketh hisnameinvain.

12Keepthesabbathdaytosanctifyit,astheLORDthy Godhathcommandedthee.

13Sixdaysthoushaltlabour,anddoallthywork:

14ButtheseventhdayisthesabbathoftheLORDthyGod: initthoushaltnotdoanywork,thou,northyson,northy daughter,northymanservant,northymaidservant,nor thineox,northineass,noranyofthycattle,northy strangerthatiswithinthygates;thatthymanservantand thymaidservantmayrestaswellasthou

27Gothounear,andhearallthattheLORDourGodshall say:andspeakthouuntousallthattheLORDourGod shallspeakuntothee;andwewillhearit,anddoit

28AndtheLORDheardthevoiceofyourwords,whenye spakeuntome;andtheLORDsaiduntome,Ihaveheard thevoiceofthewordsofthispeople,whichtheyhave spokenuntothee:theyhavewellsaidallthattheyhave spoken

29Othatthereweresuchanheartinthem,thattheywould fearme,andkeepallmycommandmentsalways,thatit mightbewellwiththem,andwiththeirchildrenforever! 30Gosaytothem,Getyouintoyourtentsagain

31Butasforthee,standthouherebyme,andIwillspeak untotheeallthecommandments,andthestatutes,andthe judgments,whichthoushaltteachthem,thattheymaydo theminthelandwhichIgivethemtopossessit.

21Thenthoushaltsayuntothyson,WewerePharaoh's bondmeninEgypt;andtheLORDbroughtusoutofEgypt withamightyhand:

22AndtheLORDshewedsignsandwonders,greatand sore,uponEgypt,uponPharaoh,anduponallhis household,beforeoureyes:

23Andhebroughtusoutfromthence,thathemightbring usin,togiveusthelandwhichheswareuntoourfathers

1WhentheLORDthyGodshallbringtheeintotheland whitherthougoesttopossessit,andhathcastoutmany nationsbeforethee,theHittites,andtheGirgashites,and theAmorites,andtheCanaanites,andthePerizzites,and theHivites,andtheJebusites,sevennationsgreaterand mightierthanthou;

2AndwhentheLORDthyGodshalldeliverthembefore thee;thoushaltsmitethem,andutterlydestroythem;thou shaltmakenocovenantwiththem,norshewmercyunto them:

3Neithershaltthoumakemarriageswiththem;thy daughterthoushaltnotgiveuntohisson,norhisdaughter shaltthoutakeuntothyson

4Fortheywillturnawaythysonfromfollowingme,that theymayserveothergods:sowilltheangeroftheLORD bekindledagainstyou,anddestroytheesuddenly 5Butthusshallyedealwiththem;yeshalldestroytheir altars,andbreakdowntheirimages,andcutdowntheir groves,andburntheirgravenimageswithfire

6ForthouartanholypeopleuntotheLORDthyGod:the LORDthyGodhathchosentheetobeaspecialpeople untohimself,aboveallpeoplethatareuponthefaceofthe earth

7TheLORDdidnotsethisloveuponyou,norchooseyou, becauseyeweremoreinnumberthananypeople;forye werethefewestofallpeople:

8ButbecausetheLORDlovedyou,andbecausehewould keeptheoathwhichhehadswornuntoyourfathers,hath theLORDbroughtyououtwithamightyhand,and redeemedyououtofthehouseofbondmen,fromthehand ofPharaohkingofEgypt

9KnowthereforethattheLORDthyGod,heisGod,the faithfulGod,whichkeepethcovenantandmercywiththem thatlovehimandkeephiscommandmentstoathousand generations;

10Andrepayeththemthathatehimtotheirface,todestroy them:hewillnotbeslacktohimthathatethhim,hewill repayhimtohisface.

11Thoushaltthereforekeepthecommandments,andthe statutes,andthejudgments,whichIcommandtheethisday, todothem.

12Whereforeitshallcometopass,ifyehearkentothese judgments,andkeep,anddothem,thattheLORDthyGod shallkeepuntotheethecovenantandthemercywhichhe swareuntothyfathers:

13Andhewilllovethee,andblessthee,andmultiplythee: hewillalsoblessthefruitofthywomb,andthefruitofthy land,thycorn,andthywine,andthineoil,theincreaseof thykine,andtheflocksofthysheep,inthelandwhichhe swareuntothyfatherstogivethee.

14Thoushaltbeblessedaboveallpeople:thereshallnot bemaleorfemalebarrenamongyou,oramongyourcattle 15AndtheLORDwilltakeawayfromtheeallsickness, andwillputnoneoftheevildiseasesofEgypt,whichthou knowest,uponthee;butwilllaythemuponallthemthat hatethee.

16AndthoushaltconsumeallthepeoplewhichtheLORD thyGodshalldeliverthee;thineeyeshallhavenopity uponthem:neithershaltthouservetheirgods;forthatwill beasnareuntothee

17Ifthoushaltsayinthineheart,Thesenationsaremore thanI;howcanIdispossessthem?

18Thoushaltnotbeafraidofthem:butshaltwell rememberwhattheLORDthyGoddiduntoPharaoh,and untoallEgypt;

19Thegreattemptationswhichthineeyessaw,andthe signs,andthewonders,andthemightyhand,andthe stretchedoutarm,wherebytheLORDthyGodbrought theeout:soshalltheLORDthyGoddountoallthepeople ofwhomthouartafraid

20MoreovertheLORDthyGodwillsendthehornet amongthem,untiltheythatareleft,andhidethemselves fromthee,bedestroyed

21Thoushaltnotbeaffrightedatthem:fortheLORDthy Godisamongyou,amightyGodandterrible

22AndtheLORDthyGodwillputoutthosenations beforetheebylittleandlittle:thoumayestnotconsume thematonce,lestthebeastsofthefieldincreaseuponthee

23ButtheLORDthyGodshalldeliverthemuntothee, andshalldestroythemwithamightydestruction,untilthey bedestroyed

24Andheshalldelivertheirkingsintothinehand,and thoushaltdestroytheirnamefromunderheaven:there shallnomanbeabletostandbeforethee,untilthouhave destroyedthem

25Thegravenimagesoftheirgodsshallyeburnwithfire: thoushaltnotdesirethesilverorgoldthatisonthem,nor takeituntothee,lestthoubesnaredtherein:foritisan abominationtotheLORDthyGod.

26Neithershaltthoubringanabominationintothinehouse, lestthoubeacursedthinglikeit:butthoushaltutterly detestit,andthoushaltutterlyabhorit;foritisacursed thing

1AllthecommandmentswhichIcommandtheethisday shallyeobservetodo,thatyemaylive,andmultiply,and goinandpossessthelandwhichtheLORDswareunto yourfathers.

2AndthoushaltrememberallthewaywhichtheLORD thyGodledtheethesefortyyearsinthewilderness,to humblethee,andtoprovethee,toknowwhatwasinthine heart,whetherthouwouldestkeephiscommandments,or no

5Thoushaltalsoconsiderinthineheart,that,asaman chastenethhisson,sotheLORDthyGodchasteneththee 6Thereforethoushaltkeepthecommandmentsofthe LORDthyGod,towalkinhisways,andtofearhim

7FortheLORDthyGodbringeththeeintoagoodland,a landofbrooksofwater,offountainsanddepthsthatspring outofvalleysandhills;

8Alandofwheat,andbarley,andvines,andfigtrees,and pomegranates;alandofoilolive,andhoney;

9Alandwhereinthoushalteatbreadwithoutscarceness, thoushaltnotlackanythinginit;alandwhosestonesare iron,andoutofwhosehillsthoumayestdigbrass

10Whenthouhasteatenandartfull,thenthoushaltbless theLORDthyGodforthegoodlandwhichhehathgiven thee

11BewarethatthouforgetnottheLORDthyGod,innot keepinghiscommandments,andhisjudgments,andhis statutes,whichIcommandtheethisday:

14Thenthineheartbeliftedup,andthouforgettheLORD thyGod,whichbroughttheeforthoutofthelandofEgypt, fromthehouseofbondage;

15Wholedtheethroughthatgreatandterriblewilderness, whereinwerefieryserpents,andscorpions,anddrought, wheretherewasnowater;whobroughttheeforthwater outoftherockofflint;

16Whofedtheeinthewildernesswithmanna,whichthy fathersknewnot,thathemighthumblethee,andthathe mightprovethee,todotheegoodatthylatterend;

17Andthousayinthineheart,Mypowerandthemightof minehandhathgottenmethiswealth.

18ButthoushaltremembertheLORDthyGod:foritishe thatgiveththeepowertogetwealth,thathemayestablish hiscovenantwhichheswareuntothyfathers,asitisthis day

19Anditshallbe,ifthoudoatallforgettheLORDthy God,andwalkafterothergods,andservethem,and worshipthem,Itestifyagainstyouthisdaythatyeshall surelyperish

1Hear,OIsrael:ThouarttopassoverJordanthisday,to gointopossessnationsgreaterandmightierthanthyself, citiesgreatandfenceduptoheaven,

2Apeoplegreatandtall,thechildrenoftheAnakims, whomthouknowest,andofwhomthouhastheardsay, WhocanstandbeforethechildrenofAnak!

3Understandthereforethisday,thattheLORDthyGodis hewhichgoethoverbeforethee;asaconsumingfirehe shalldestroythem,andheshallbringthemdownbefore thyface:soshaltthoudrivethemout,anddestroythem quickly,astheLORDhathsaiduntothee

4Speaknotthouinthineheart,afterthattheLORDthy Godhathcastthemoutfrombeforethee,saying,Formy righteousnesstheLORDhathbroughtmeintopossessthis land:butforthewickednessofthesenationstheLORD dothdrivethemoutfrombeforethee

5Notforthyrighteousness,orfortheuprightnessofthine heart,dostthougotopossesstheirland:butforthe wickednessofthesenationstheLORDthyGoddothdrive themoutfrombeforethee,andthathemayperformthe wordwhichtheLORDswareuntothyfathers,Abraham, Isaac,andJacob

6Understandtherefore,thattheLORDthyGodgiveththee notthisgoodlandtopossessitforthyrighteousness;for thouartastiffneckedpeople

7Remember,andforgetnot,howthouprovokedstthe LORDthyGodtowrathinthewilderness:fromtheday thatthoudidstdepartoutofthelandofEgypt,untilye cameuntothisplace,yehavebeenrebelliousagainstthe LORD.

8AlsoinHorebyeprovokedtheLORDtowrath,sothat theLORDwasangrywithyoutohavedestroyedyou

9WhenIwasgoneupintothemounttoreceivethetables ofstone,eventhetablesofthecovenantwhichtheLORD madewithyou,thenIabodeinthemountfortydaysand fortynights,Ineitherdideatbreadnordrinkwater:

10AndtheLORDdelivereduntometwotablesofstone writtenwiththefingerofGod;andonthemwaswritten accordingtoallthewords,whichtheLORDspakewith youinthemountoutofthemidstofthefireinthedayof theassembly

11Anditcametopassattheendoffortydaysandforty nights,thattheLORDgavemethetwotablesofstone, eventhetablesofthecovenant

12AndtheLORDsaiduntome,Arise,gettheedown quicklyfromhence;forthypeoplewhichthouhastbrought forthoutofEgypthavecorruptedthemselves;theyare quicklyturnedasideoutofthewaywhichIcommanded them;theyhavemadethemamoltenimage

13FurthermoretheLORDspakeuntome,saying,Ihave seenthispeople,and,behold,itisastiffneckedpeople:

14Letmealone,thatImaydestroythem,andblotouttheir namefromunderheaven:andIwillmakeoftheeanation mightierandgreaterthanthey.

15SoIturnedandcamedownfromthemount,andthe mountburnedwithfire:andthetwotablesofthecovenant wereinmytwohands.

16AndIlooked,and,behold,yehadsinnedagainstthe LORDyourGod,andhadmadeyouamoltencalf:yehad turnedasidequicklyoutofthewaywhichtheLORDhad commandedyou

17AndItookthetwotables,andcastthemoutofmytwo hands,andbrakethembeforeyoureyes.

18AndIfelldownbeforetheLORD,asatthefirst,forty daysandfortynights:Ididneithereatbread,nordrink water,becauseofallyoursinswhichyesinned,indoing wickedlyinthesightoftheLORD,toprovokehimto anger

19ForIwasafraidoftheangerandhotdispleasure, wherewiththeLORDwaswrothagainstyoutodestroyyou ButtheLORDhearkeneduntomeatthattimealso.

20AndtheLORDwasveryangrywithAarontohave destroyedhim:andIprayedforAaronalsothesametime

21AndItookyoursin,thecalfwhichyehadmade,and burntitwithfire,andstampedit,andgrounditverysmall, evenuntilitwasassmallasdust:andIcastthedust thereofintothebrookthatdescendedoutofthemount.

22AndatTaberah,andatMassah,andatKibrothhattaavah, yeprovokedtheLORDtowrath

23LikewisewhentheLORDsentyoufromKadeshbarnea, saying,GoupandpossessthelandwhichIhavegivenyou; thenyerebelledagainstthecommandmentoftheLORD yourGod,andyebelievedhimnot,norhearkenedtohis voice

24YehavebeenrebelliousagainsttheLORDfromtheday thatIknewyou

25ThusIfelldownbeforetheLORDfortydaysandforty nights,asIfelldownatthefirst;becausetheLORDhad saidhewoulddestroyyou.

26IprayedthereforeuntotheLORD,andsaid,OLord GOD,destroynotthypeopleandthineinheritance,which thouhastredeemedthroughthygreatness,whichthouhast broughtforthoutofEgyptwithamightyhand.

4AndwhathediduntothearmyofEgypt,untotheir horses,andtotheirchariots;howhemadethewaterofthe Redseatooverflowthemastheypursuedafteryou,and howtheLORDhathdestroyedthemuntothisday;

5Andwhathediduntoyouinthewilderness,untilye cameintothisplace;

6AndwhathediduntoDathanandAbiram,thesonsof Eliab,thesonofReuben:howtheearthopenedhermouth, andswallowedthemup,andtheirhouseholds,andtheir tents,andallthesubstancethatwasintheirpossession,in themidstofallIsrael:

7ButyoureyeshaveseenallthegreatactsoftheLORD whichhedid.

8ThereforeshallyekeepallthecommandmentswhichI commandyouthisday,thatyemaybestrong,andgoin andpossesstheland,whitheryegotopossessit;

9Andthatyemayprolongyourdaysintheland,whichthe LORDswareuntoyourfatherstogiveuntothemandto theirseed,alandthatflowethwithmilkandhoney.

10Fortheland,whitherthougoestintopossessit,isnot asthelandofEgypt,fromwhenceyecameout,wherethou sowedstthyseed,andwateredstitwiththyfoot,asa gardenofherbs:

11Buttheland,whitheryegotopossessit,isalandof hillsandvalleys,anddrinkethwateroftherainofheaven:

12AlandwhichtheLORDthyGodcarethfor:theeyesof theLORDthyGodarealwaysuponit,fromthebeginning oftheyearevenuntotheendoftheyear

13Anditshallcometopass,ifyeshallhearkendiligently untomycommandmentswhichIcommandyouthisday,to lovetheLORDyourGod,andtoservehimwithallyour heartandwithallyoursoul, 14ThatIwillgiveyoutherainofyourlandinhisdue season,thefirstrainandthelatterrain,thatthoumayest gatherinthycorn,andthywine,andthineoil

15AndIwillsendgrassinthyfieldsforthycattle,that thoumayesteatandbefull

16Takeheedtoyourselves,thatyourheartbenotdeceived, andyeturnaside,andserveothergods,andworshipthem; 17AndthentheLORD'Swrathbekindledagainstyou,and heshutuptheheaven,thattherebenorain,andthatthe landyieldnotherfruit;andlestyeperishquicklyfromoff thegoodlandwhichtheLORDgivethyou

18Thereforeshallyelayupthesemywordsinyourheart andinyoursoul,andbindthemforasignuponyourhand, thattheymaybeasfrontletsbetweenyoureyes

19Andyeshallteachthemyourchildren,speakingof themwhenthousittestinthinehouse,andwhenthou walkestbytheway,whenthouliestdown,andwhenthou risestup

20Andthoushaltwritethemuponthedoorpostsofthine house,anduponthygates:

21Thatyourdaysmaybemultiplied,andthedaysofyour children,inthelandwhichtheLORDswareuntoyour fatherstogivethem,asthedaysofheavenupontheearth 22Forifyeshalldiligentlykeepallthesecommandments whichIcommandyou,todothem,tolovetheLORDyour God,towalkinallhisways,andtocleaveuntohim; 23ThenwilltheLORDdriveoutallthesenationsfrom beforeyou,andyeshallpossessgreaternationsand mightierthanyourselves

24Everyplacewhereonthesolesofyourfeetshalltread shallbeyours:fromthewildernessandLebanon,fromthe river,theriverEuphrates,evenuntotheuttermostseashall yourcoastbe.

25Thereshallnomanbeabletostandbeforeyou:forthe LORDyourGodshalllaythefearofyouandthedreadof youuponallthelandthatyeshalltreadupon,ashehath saiduntoyou.

26Behold,Isetbeforeyouthisdayablessingandacurse; 27Ablessing,ifyeobeythecommandmentsoftheLORD yourGod,whichIcommandyouthisday:

28Andacurse,ifyewillnotobeythecommandmentsof theLORDyourGod,butturnasideoutofthewaywhichI commandyouthisday,togoafterothergods,whichye havenotknown

29Anditshallcometopass,whentheLORDthyGod hathbroughttheeinuntothelandwhitherthougoestto possessit,thatthoushaltputtheblessinguponmount Gerizim,andthecurseuponmountEbal.

30AretheynotontheothersideJordan,bythewaywhere thesungoethdown,inthelandoftheCanaanites,which dwellinthechampaignoveragainstGilgal,besidethe plainsofMoreh?

31ForyeshallpassoverJordantogointopossessthe landwhichtheLORDyourGodgivethyou,andyeshall possessit,anddwelltherein

32Andyeshallobservetodoallthestatutesand judgmentswhichIsetbeforeyouthisday

CHAPTER12

1Thesearethestatutesandjudgments,whichyeshall observetodointheland,whichtheLORDGodofthy fathersgiveththeetopossessit,allthedaysthatyelive upontheearth.

2Yeshallutterlydestroyalltheplaces,whereinthe nationswhichyeshallpossessservedtheirgods,uponthe highmountains,anduponthehills,andundereverygreen tree:

3Andyeshalloverthrowtheiraltars,andbreaktheirpillars, andburntheirgroveswithfire;andyeshallhewdownthe gravenimagesoftheirgods,anddestroythenamesofthem outofthatplace.

4YeshallnotdosountotheLORDyourGod

5ButuntotheplacewhichtheLORDyourGodshall chooseoutofallyourtribestoputhisnamethere,even untohishabitationshallyeseek,andthitherthoushalt come:

6Andthitheryeshallbringyourburntofferings,andyour sacrifices,andyourtithes,andheaveofferingsofyour hand,andyourvows,andyourfreewillofferings,andthe firstlingsofyourherdsandofyourflocks:

7AndthereyeshalleatbeforetheLORDyourGod,andye shallrejoiceinallthatyeputyourhandunto,yeandyour households,whereintheLORDthyGodhathblessedthee.

8Yeshallnotdoafterallthethingsthatwedoherethis day,everymanwhatsoeverisrightinhisowneyes

9Foryearenotasyetcometotherestandtothe inheritance,whichtheLORDyourGodgivethyou 10ButwhenyegooverJordan,anddwellintheland whichtheLORDyourGodgivethyoutoinherit,andwhen hegivethyourestfromallyourenemiesroundabout,so thatyedwellinsafety;

11ThenthereshallbeaplacewhichtheLORDyourGod shallchoosetocausehisnametodwellthere;thithershall yebringallthatIcommandyou;yourburntofferings,and yoursacrifices,yourtithes,andtheheaveofferingofyour hand,andallyourchoicevowswhichyevowuntothe LORD:

12AndyeshallrejoicebeforetheLORDyourGod,ye, andyoursons,andyourdaughters,andyourmenservants, andyourmaidservants,andtheLevitethatiswithinyour gates;forasmuchashehathnopartnorinheritancewith you

15Notwithstandingthoumayestkillandeatfleshinallthy gates,whatsoeverthysoullustethafter,accordingtothe blessingoftheLORDthyGodwhichhehathgiventhee: theuncleanandthecleanmayeatthereof,asofthe roebuck,andasofthehart.

16Onlyyeshallnoteattheblood;yeshallpourituponthe earthaswater

19TakeheedtothyselfthatthouforsakenottheLeviteas longasthoulivestupontheearth

20WhentheLORDthyGodshallenlargethyborder,ashe hathpromisedthee,andthoushaltsay,Iwilleatflesh, becausethysoullongethtoeatflesh;thoumayesteatflesh, whatsoeverthysoullustethafter.

21IftheplacewhichtheLORDthyGodhathchosento puthisnametherebetoofarfromthee,thenthoushaltkill ofthyherdandofthyflock,whichtheLORDhathgiven thee,asIhavecommandedthee,andthoushalteatinthy gateswhatsoeverthysoullustethafter

22Evenastheroebuckandthehartiseaten,sothoushalt eatthem:theuncleanandthecleanshalleatofthemalike 23Onlybesurethatthoueatnottheblood:forthebloodis thelife;andthoumayestnoteatthelifewiththeflesh.

24Thoushaltnoteatit;thoushaltpouritupontheearthas water

25Thoushaltnoteatit;thatitmaygowellwiththee,and withthychildrenafterthee,whenthoushaltdothatwhich isrightinthesightoftheLORD

26Onlythyholythingswhichthouhast,andthyvows, thoushalttake,andgountotheplacewhichtheLORD shallchoose:

27Andthoushaltofferthyburntofferings,thefleshand theblood,uponthealtaroftheLORDthyGod:andthe bloodofthysacrificesshallbepouredoutuponthealtarof theLORDthyGod,andthoushalteattheflesh.

28ObserveandhearallthesewordswhichIcommandthee, thatitmaygowellwiththee,andwiththychildrenafter theeforever,whenthoudoestthatwhichisgoodandright inthesightoftheLORDthyGod

29WhentheLORDthyGodshallcutoffthenationsfrom beforethee,whitherthougoesttopossessthem,andthou succeedestthem,anddwellestintheirland;

30Takeheedtothyselfthatthoubenotsnaredby followingthem,afterthattheybedestroyedfrombefore thee;andthatthouenquirenotaftertheirgods,saying, Howdidthesenationsservetheirgods?evensowillIdo likewise

31ThoushaltnotdosountotheLORDthyGod:forevery abominationtotheLORD,whichhehateth,havetheydone untotheirgods;foreventheirsonsandtheirdaughtersthey haveburntinthefiretotheirgods

32WhatthingsoeverIcommandyou,observetodoit: thoushaltnotaddthereto,nordiminishfromit

CHAPTER13

1Ifthereariseamongyouaprophet,oradreamerof dreams,andgiveththeeasignorawonder,

2Andthesignorthewondercometopass,whereofhe spakeuntothee,saying,Letusgoafterothergods,which thouhastnotknown,andletusservethem;

3Thoushaltnothearkenuntothewordsofthatprophet,or thatdreamerofdreams:fortheLORDyourGodproveth

you,toknowwhetheryelovetheLORDyourGodwithall yourheartandwithallyoursoul

4YeshallwalkaftertheLORDyourGod,andfearhim, andkeephiscommandments,andobeyhisvoice,andye shallservehim,andcleaveuntohim.

5Andthatprophet,orthatdreamerofdreams,shallbeput todeath;becausehehathspokentoturnyouawayfromthe LORDyourGod,whichbroughtyououtofthelandof Egypt,andredeemedyououtofthehouseofbondage,to thrusttheeoutofthewaywhichtheLORDthyGod commandedtheetowalkin.Soshaltthouputtheevilaway fromthemidstofthee

6Ifthybrother,thesonofthymother,orthyson,orthy daughter,orthewifeofthybosom,orthyfriend,whichis asthineownsoul,enticetheesecretly,saying,Letusgo andserveothergods,whichthouhastnotknown,thou,nor thyfathers;

7Namely,ofthegodsofthepeoplewhichareroundabout you,nighuntothee,orfarofffromthee,fromtheoneend oftheearthevenuntotheotherendoftheearth;

8Thoushaltnotconsentuntohim,norhearkenuntohim; neithershallthineeyepityhim,neithershaltthouspare, neithershaltthouconcealhim:

9Butthoushaltsurelykillhim;thinehandshallbefirst uponhimtoputhimtodeath,andafterwardsthehandof allthepeople.

10Andthoushaltstonehimwithstones,thathedie; becausehehathsoughttothrusttheeawayfromtheLORD thyGod,whichbroughttheeoutofthelandofEgypt,from thehouseofbondage

11AndallIsraelshallhear,andfear,andshalldonomore anysuchwickednessasthisisamongyou.

12Ifthoushalthearsayinoneofthycities,whichthe LORDthyGodhathgiventheetodwellthere,saying, 13Certainmen,thechildrenofBelial,aregoneoutfrom amongyou,andhavewithdrawntheinhabitantsoftheir city,saying,Letusgoandserveothergods,whichyehave notknown;

14Thenshaltthouenquire,andmakesearch,andask diligently;and,behold,ifitbetruth,andthethingcertain, thatsuchabominationiswroughtamongyou;

15Thoushaltsurelysmitetheinhabitantsofthatcitywith theedgeofthesword,destroyingitutterly,andallthatis therein,andthecattlethereof,withtheedgeofthesword.

16Andthoushaltgatherallthespoilofitintothemidstof thestreetthereof,andshaltburnwithfirethecity,andall thespoilthereofeverywhit,fortheLORDthyGod:andit shallbeanheapforever;itshallnotbebuiltagain 17Andthereshallcleavenoughtofthecursedthingto thinehand:thattheLORDmayturnfromthefiercenessof hisanger,andshewtheemercy,andhavecompassionupon thee,andmultiplythee,ashehathswornuntothyfathers;

18WhenthoushalthearkentothevoiceoftheLORDthy God,tokeepallhiscommandmentswhichIcommandthee thisday,todothatwhichisrightintheeyesoftheLORD thyGod

1YearethechildrenoftheLORDyourGod:yeshallnot cutyourselves,normakeanybaldnessbetweenyoureyes forthedead

2ForthouartanholypeopleuntotheLORDthyGod,and theLORDhathchosentheetobeapeculiarpeopleunto himself,aboveallthenationsthatareupontheearth 3Thoushaltnoteatanyabominablething

4Thesearethebeastswhichyeshalleat:theox,thesheep, andthegoat,

5Thehart,andtheroebuck,andthefallowdeer,andthe wildgoat,andthepygarg,andthewildox,andthechamois.

6Andeverybeastthatparteththehoof,andcleaveththe cleftintotwoclaws,andcheweththecudamongthebeasts, thatyeshalleat.

7Neverthelesstheseyeshallnoteatofthemthatchewthe cud,orofthemthatdividetheclovenhoof;asthecamel, andthehare,andtheconey:fortheychewthecud,but dividenotthehoof;thereforetheyareuncleanuntoyou

8Andtheswine,becauseitdivideththehoof,yetcheweth notthecud,itisuncleanuntoyou:yeshallnoteatoftheir flesh,nortouchtheirdeadcarcase

9Theseyeshalleatofallthatareinthewaters:allthat havefinsandscalesshallyeeat:

10Andwhatsoeverhathnotfinsandscalesyemaynoteat; itisuncleanuntoyou

11Ofallcleanbirdsyeshalleat.

24Andifthewaybetoolongforthee,sothatthouartnot abletocarryit;oriftheplacebetoofarfromthee,which theLORDthyGodshallchoosetosethisnamethere, whentheLORDthyGodhathblessedthee:

25Thenshaltthouturnitintomoney,andbindupthe moneyinthinehand,andshaltgountotheplacewhichthe LORDthyGodshallchoose:

26Andthoushaltbestowthatmoneyforwhatsoeverthy soullustethafter,foroxen,orforsheep,orforwine,orfor strongdrink,orforwhatsoeverthysouldesireth:andthou shalteattherebeforetheLORDthyGod,andthoushalt rejoice,thou,andthinehousehold,

27AndtheLevitethatiswithinthygates;thoushaltnot forsakehim;forhehathnopartnorinheritancewiththee

28Attheendofthreeyearsthoushaltbringforthallthe titheofthineincreasethesameyear,andshaltlayitup withinthygates:

CHAPTER15

1Attheendofeverysevenyearsthoushaltmakearelease

2Andthisisthemanneroftherelease:Everycreditorthat lendethoughtuntohisneighbourshallreleaseit;heshall notexactitofhisneighbour,orofhisbrother;becauseitis calledtheLORD'Srelease

3Ofaforeignerthoumayestexactitagain:butthatwhich isthinewiththybrotherthinehandshallrelease;

4Savewhenthereshallbenopooramongyou;forthe LORDshallgreatlyblesstheeinthelandwhichtheLORD thyGodgiveththeeforaninheritancetopossessit:

5Onlyifthoucarefullyhearkenuntothevoiceofthe LORDthyGod,toobservetodoallthesecommandments whichIcommandtheethisday

6FortheLORDthyGodblesseththee,ashepromisedthee: andthoushaltlenduntomanynations,butthoushaltnot borrow;andthoushaltreignovermanynations,butthey shallnotreignoverthee

7Iftherebeamongyouapoormanofoneofthybrethren withinanyofthygatesinthylandwhichtheLORDthy Godgiveththee,thoushaltnothardenthineheart,norshut thinehandfromthypoorbrother:

8Butthoushaltopenthinehandwideuntohim,andshalt surelylendhimsufficientforhisneed,inthatwhichhe wanteth.

9Bewarethattherebenotathoughtinthywickedheart, saying,Theseventhyear,theyearofrelease,isathand; andthineeyebeevilagainstthypoorbrother,andthou givesthimnought;andhecryuntotheLORDagainstthee, anditbesinuntothee.

10Thoushaltsurelygivehim,andthineheartshallnotbe grievedwhenthougivestuntohim:becausethatforthis thingtheLORDthyGodshallblesstheeinallthyworks, andinallthatthouputtestthinehandunto.

11Forthepoorshallneverceaseoutoftheland:therefore Icommandthee,saying,Thoushaltopenthinehandwide untothybrother,tothypoor,andtothyneedy,inthyland 12Andifthybrother,anHebrewman,oranHebrew woman,besolduntothee,andservetheesixyears;thenin theseventhyearthoushaltlethimgofreefromthee

13Andwhenthousendesthimoutfreefromthee,thou shaltnotlethimgoawayempty:

14Thoushaltfurnishhimliberallyoutofthyflock,andout ofthyfloor,andoutofthywinepress:ofthatwherewith theLORDthyGodhathblessedtheethoushaltgiveunto him

15Andthoushaltrememberthatthouwastabondmanin thelandofEgypt,andtheLORDthyGodredeemedthee: thereforeIcommandtheethisthingtoday

16Anditshallbe,ifhesayuntothee,Iwillnotgoaway fromthee;becauseheloveththeeandthinehouse,because heiswellwiththee;

17Thenthoushalttakeanaul,andthrustitthroughhisear untothedoor,andheshallbethyservantforeverAnd alsountothymaidservantthoushaltdolikewise

18Itshallnotseemharduntothee,whenthousendesthim awayfreefromthee;forhehathbeenworthadoublehired servanttothee,inservingtheesixyears:andtheLORD thyGodshallblesstheeinallthatthoudoest

19Allthefirstlingmalesthatcomeofthyherdandofthy flockthoushaltsanctifyuntotheLORDthyGod:thou shaltdonoworkwiththefirstlingofthybullock,norshear thefirstlingofthysheep.

20ThoushalteatitbeforetheLORDthyGodyearbyyear intheplacewhichtheLORDshallchoose,thouandthy household.

21Andiftherebeanyblemishtherein,asifitbelame,or blind,orhaveanyillblemish,thoushaltnotsacrificeit untotheLORDthyGod.

22Thoushalteatitwithinthygates:theuncleanandthe cleanpersonshalleatitalike,astheroebuck,andasthe hart.

23Onlythoushaltnoteatthebloodthereof;thoushalt pourituponthegroundaswater

1ObservethemonthofAbib,andkeepthepassoverunto theLORDthyGod:forinthemonthofAbibtheLORD thyGodbroughttheeforthoutofEgyptbynight 2Thoushaltthereforesacrificethepassoveruntothe LORDthyGod,oftheflockandtheherd,intheplace whichtheLORDshallchoosetoplacehisnamethere

3Thoushalteatnoleavenedbreadwithit;sevendaysshalt thoueatunleavenedbreadtherewith,eventhebreadof affliction;forthoucamestforthoutofthelandofEgyptin haste:thatthoumayestrememberthedaywhenthou camestforthoutofthelandofEgyptallthedaysofthylife 4Andthereshallbenoleavenedbreadseenwiththeeinall thycoastsevendays;neithershallthereanythingofthe flesh,whichthousacrificedstthefirstdayateven,remain allnightuntilthemorning.

5Thoumayestnotsacrificethepassoverwithinanyofthy gates,whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththee:

6ButattheplacewhichtheLORDthyGodshallchooseto placehisnamein,therethoushaltsacrificethepassoverat even,atthegoingdownofthesun,attheseasonthatthou camestforthoutofEgypt

7Andthoushaltroastandeatitintheplacewhichthe LORDthyGodshallchoose:andthoushaltturninthe morning,andgountothytents.

8Sixdaysthoushalteatunleavenedbread:andonthe seventhdayshallbeasolemnassemblytotheLORDthy God:thoushaltdonoworktherein.

9Sevenweeksshaltthounumberuntothee:beginto numberthesevenweeksfromsuchtimeasthoubeginnest toputthesickletothecorn.

10AndthoushaltkeepthefeastofweeksuntotheLORD thyGodwithatributeofafreewillofferingofthinehand, whichthoushaltgiveuntotheLORDthyGod,according astheLORDthyGodhathblessedthee:

21Thoushaltnotplanttheeagroveofanytreesnearunto thealtaroftheLORDthyGod,whichthoushaltmakethee 22Neithershaltthousettheeupanyimage;whichthe LORDthyGodhateth.

CHAPTER17

1ThoushaltnotsacrificeuntotheLORDthyGodany bullock,orsheep,whereinisblemish,orany evilfavouredness:forthatisanabominationuntothe LORDthyGod

2Iftherebefoundamongyou,withinanyofthygates whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththee,manorwoman,that hathwroughtwickednessinthesightoftheLORDthyGod, intransgressinghiscovenant,

3Andhathgoneandservedothergods,andworshipped them,eitherthesun,ormoon,oranyofthehostofheaven, whichIhavenotcommanded;

4Anditbetoldthee,andthouhastheardofit,and enquireddiligently,and,behold,itbetrue,andthething certain,thatsuchabominationiswroughtinIsrael:

5Thenshaltthoubringforththatmanorthatwoman, whichhavecommittedthatwickedthing,untothygates, eventhatmanorthatwoman,andshaltstonethemwith stones,tilltheydie

6Atthemouthoftwowitnesses,orthreewitnesses,shall hethatisworthyofdeathbeputtodeath;butatthemouth ofonewitnessheshallnotbeputtodeath

7Thehandsofthewitnessesshallbefirstuponhimtoput himtodeath,andafterwardthehandsofallthepeople.So thoushaltputtheevilawayfromamongyou

8Ifthereariseamattertoohardfortheeinjudgment, betweenbloodandblood,betweenpleaandplea,and betweenstrokeandstroke,beingmattersofcontroversy withinthygates:thenshaltthouarise,andgettheeupinto theplacewhichtheLORDthyGodshallchoose; 9AndthoushaltcomeuntotheprieststheLevites,and untothejudgethatshallbeinthosedays,andenquire;and theyshallshewtheethesentenceofjudgment:

10Andthoushaltdoaccordingtothesentence,whichthey ofthatplacewhichtheLORDshallchooseshallshewthee; andthoushaltobservetodoaccordingtoallthatthey informthee:

11Accordingtothesentenceofthelawwhichtheyshall teachthee,andaccordingtothejudgmentwhichtheyshall tellthee,thoushaltdo:thoushaltnotdeclinefromthe sentencewhichtheyshallshewthee,totherighthand,nor totheleft.

12Andthemanthatwilldopresumptuously,andwillnot hearkenuntothepriestthatstandethtoministerthere beforetheLORDthyGod,oruntothejudge,eventhat manshalldie:andthoushaltputawaytheevilfromIsrael 13Andallthepeopleshallhear,andfear,anddonomore presumptuously.

14WhenthouartcomeuntothelandwhichtheLORDthy Godgiveththee,andshaltpossessit,andshaltdwell therein,andshaltsay,Iwillsetakingoverme,likeasall thenationsthatareaboutme;

15Thoushaltinanywisesethimkingoverthee,whom theLORDthyGodshallchoose:onefromamongthy brethrenshaltthousetkingoverthee:thoumayestnotseta strangeroverthee,whichisnotthybrother

16Butheshallnotmultiplyhorsestohimself,norcause thepeopletoreturntoEgypt,totheendthatheshould multiplyhorses:forasmuchastheLORDhathsaidunto you,Yeshallhenceforthreturnnomorethatway.

17Neithershallhemultiplywivestohimself,thathisheart turnnotaway:neithershallhegreatlymultiplytohimself silverandgold.

18Anditshallbe,whenhesittethuponthethroneofhis kingdom,thatheshallwritehimacopyofthislawina bookoutofthatwhichisbeforetheprieststheLevites: 19Anditshallbewithhim,andheshallreadthereinall thedaysofhislife:thathemaylearntofeartheLORDhis God,tokeepallthewordsofthislawandthesestatutes,to dothem:

20Thathisheartbenotliftedupabovehisbrethren,and thatheturnnotasidefromthecommandment,totheright hand,ortotheleft:totheendthathemayprolonghisdays inhiskingdom,he,andhischildren,inthemidstofIsrael.

CHAPTER18

1TheprieststheLevites,andallthetribeofLevi,shall havenopartnorinheritancewithIsrael:theyshalleatthe offeringsoftheLORDmadebyfire,andhisinheritance. 2Thereforeshalltheyhavenoinheritanceamongtheir brethren:theLORDistheirinheritance,ashehathsaid untothem.

3Andthisshallbethepriest'sduefromthepeople,from themthatofferasacrifice,whetheritbeoxorsheep;and theyshallgiveuntothepriesttheshoulder,andthetwo cheeks,andthemaw

4Thefirstfruitalsoofthycorn,ofthywine,andofthine oil,andthefirstofthefleeceofthysheep,shaltthougive him

5FortheLORDthyGodhathchosenhimoutofallthy tribes,tostandtoministerinthenameoftheLORD,him andhissonsforever

6AndifaLevitecomefromanyofthygatesoutofall Israel,wherehesojourned,andcomewithallthedesireof hisminduntotheplacewhichtheLORDshallchoose;

7ThenheshallministerinthenameoftheLORDhisGod, asallhisbrethrentheLevitesdo,whichstandtherebefore theLORD

8Theyshallhavelikeportionstoeat,besidethatwhich comethofthesaleofhispatrimony.

9WhenthouartcomeintothelandwhichtheLORDthy Godgiveththee,thoushaltnotlearntodoafterthe abominationsofthosenations.

10Thereshallnotbefoundamongyouanyonethat makethhissonorhisdaughtertopassthroughthefire,or thatusethdivination,oranobserveroftimes,oran enchanter,orawitch,

11Oracharmer,oraconsulterwithfamiliarspirits,ora wizard,oranecromancer.

12Forallthatdothesethingsareanabominationuntothe LORD:andbecauseoftheseabominationstheLORDthy Goddothdrivethemoutfrombeforethee.

13ThoushaltbeperfectwiththeLORDthyGod

14Forthesenations,whichthoushaltpossess,hearkened untoobserversoftimes,anduntodiviners:butasforthee, theLORDthyGodhathnotsufferedtheesotodo

15TheLORDthyGodwillraiseupuntotheeaProphet fromthemidstofthee,ofthybrethren,likeuntome;unto himyeshallhearken;

16AccordingtoallthatthoudesiredstoftheLORDthy GodinHorebinthedayoftheassembly,saying,Letme nothearagainthevoiceoftheLORDmyGod,neitherlet meseethisgreatfireanymore,thatIdienot

17AndtheLORDsaiduntome,Theyhavewellspoken thatwhichtheyhavespoken

18IwillraisethemupaProphetfromamongtheir brethren,likeuntothee,andwillputmywordsinhis mouth;andheshallspeakuntothemallthatIshall commandhim.

19Anditshallcometopass,thatwhosoeverwillnot hearkenuntomywordswhichheshallspeakinmyname,I willrequireitofhim

20Buttheprophet,whichshallpresumetospeakawordin myname,whichIhavenotcommandedhimtospeak,or thatshallspeakinthenameofothergods,eventhat prophetshalldie

21Andifthousayinthineheart,Howshallweknowthe wordwhichtheLORDhathnotspoken?

22WhenaprophetspeakethinthenameoftheLORD,if thethingfollownot,norcometopass,thatisthething whichtheLORDhathnotspoken,buttheprophethath spokenitpresumptuously:thoushaltnotbeafraidofhim

CHAPTER19

1WhentheLORDthyGodhathcutoffthenations,whose landtheLORDthyGodgiveththee,andthousucceedest them,anddwellestintheircities,andintheirhouses;

2Thoushaltseparatethreecitiesfortheeinthemidstof thyland,whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeetopossessit 3Thoushaltpreparetheeaway,anddividethecoastsof thyland,whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeetoinherit, intothreeparts,thateveryslayermayfleethither.

4Andthisisthecaseoftheslayer,whichshallfleethither, thathemaylive:Whosokillethhisneighbourignorantly, whomhehatednotintimepast;

5Aswhenamangoethintothewoodwithhisneighbour tohewwood,andhishandfetchethastrokewiththeaxeto cutdownthetree,andtheheadslippethfromthehelve, andlightethuponhisneighbour,thathedie;heshallflee untooneofthosecities,andlive:

6Lesttheavengerofthebloodpursuetheslayer,whilehis heartishot,andovertakehim,becausethewayislong,and slayhim;whereashewasnotworthyofdeath,inasmuchas hehatedhimnotintimepast.

7WhereforeIcommandthee,saying,Thoushaltseparate threecitiesforthee

8AndiftheLORDthyGodenlargethycoast,ashehath swornuntothyfathers,andgivetheeallthelandwhichhe promisedtogiveuntothyfathers;

9Ifthoushaltkeepallthesecommandmentstodothem, whichIcommandtheethisday,tolovetheLORDthyGod, andtowalkeverinhisways;thenshaltthouaddthree citiesmoreforthee,besidethesethree:

10Thatinnocentbloodbenotshedinthyland,whichthe LORDthyGodgiveththeeforaninheritance,andsoblood beuponthee.

11Butifanymanhatehisneighbour,andlieinwaitfor him,andriseupagainsthim,andsmitehimmortallythat hedie,andfleethintooneofthesecities:

12Thentheeldersofhiscityshallsendandfetchhim thence,anddeliverhimintothehandoftheavengerof blood,thathemaydie.

13Thineeyeshallnotpityhim,butthoushaltputawaythe guiltofinnocentbloodfromIsrael,thatitmaygowellwith thee.

14Thoushaltnotremovethyneighbour'slandmark,which theyofoldtimehavesetinthineinheritance,whichthou shaltinheritinthelandthattheLORDthyGodgiveththee topossessit

15Onewitnessshallnotriseupagainstamanforany iniquity,orforanysin,inanysinthathesinneth:atthe mouthoftwowitnesses,oratthemouthofthreewitnesses, shallthematterbeestablished

16Ifafalsewitnessriseupagainstanymantotestify againsthimthatwhichiswrong;

17Thenboththemen,betweenwhomthecontroversyis, shallstandbeforetheLORD,beforethepriestsandthe judges,whichshallbeinthosedays;

18Andthejudgesshallmakediligentinquisition:and, behold,ifthewitnessbeafalsewitness,andhathtestified falselyagainsthisbrother;

19Thenshallyedountohim,ashehadthoughttohave doneuntohisbrother:soshaltthouputtheevilawayfrom amongyou

20Andthosewhichremainshallhear,andfear,andshall henceforthcommitnomoreanysuchevilamongyou

21Andthineeyeshallnotpity;butlifeshallgoforlife, eyeforeye,toothfortooth,handforhand,footforfoot.

1Whenthougoestouttobattleagainstthineenemies,and seesthorses,andchariots,andapeoplemorethanthou,be notafraidofthem:fortheLORDthyGodiswiththee, whichbroughttheeupoutofthelandofEgypt

2Anditshallbe,whenyearecomenighuntothebattle, thatthepriestshallapproachandspeakuntothepeople, 3Andshallsayuntothem,Hear,OIsrael,yeapproachthis dayuntobattleagainstyourenemies:letnotyourhearts faint,fearnot,anddonottremble,neitherbeyeterrified becauseofthem;

4FortheLORDyourGodishethatgoethwithyou,to fightforyouagainstyourenemies,tosaveyou.

5Andtheofficersshallspeakuntothepeople,saying, Whatmanistherethathathbuiltanewhouse,andhathnot dedicatedit?lethimgoandreturntohishouse,lesthedie inthebattle,andanothermandedicateit

6Andwhatmanishethathathplantedavineyard,and hathnotyeteatenofit?lethimalsogoandreturnuntohis house,lesthedieinthebattle,andanothermaneatofit

7Andwhatmanistherethathathbetrothedawife,and hathnottakenher?lethimgoandreturnuntohishouse, lesthedieinthebattle,andanothermantakeher

8Andtheofficersshallspeakfurtheruntothepeople,and theyshallsay,Whatmanistherethatisfearfuland fainthearted?lethimgoandreturnuntohishouse,lesthis brethren'sheartfaintaswellashisheart

9Anditshallbe,whentheofficershavemadeanendof speakinguntothepeople,thattheyshallmakecaptainsof thearmiestoleadthepeople

10Whenthoucomestnighuntoacitytofightagainstit, thenproclaimpeaceuntoit

11Anditshallbe,ifitmaketheeanswerofpeace,and openuntothee,thenitshallbe,thatallthepeoplethatis foundthereinshallbetributariesuntothee,andtheyshall servethee

12Andifitwillmakenopeacewiththee,butwillmake waragainstthee,thenthoushaltbesiegeit:

13AndwhentheLORDthyGodhathdelivereditinto thinehands,thoushaltsmiteeverymalethereofwiththe edgeofthesword:

14Butthewomen,andthelittleones,andthecattle,and allthatisinthecity,evenallthespoilthereof,shaltthou takeuntothyself;andthoushalteatthespoilofthine enemies,whichtheLORDthyGodhathgiventhee

15Thusshaltthoudountoallthecitieswhichareveryfar offfromthee,whicharenotofthecitiesofthesenations

16Butofthecitiesofthesepeople,whichtheLORDthy Goddothgivetheeforaninheritance,thoushaltsavealive nothingthatbreatheth:

17Butthoushaltutterlydestroythem;namely,theHittites, andtheAmorites,theCanaanites,andthePerizzites,the Hivites,andtheJebusites;astheLORDthyGodhath commandedthee:

18Thattheyteachyounottodoafteralltheir abominations,whichtheyhavedoneuntotheirgods;so shouldyesinagainsttheLORDyourGod.

19Whenthoushaltbesiegeacityalongtime,inmaking waragainstittotakeit,thoushaltnotdestroythetrees thereofbyforcinganaxeagainstthem:forthoumayesteat ofthem,andthoushaltnotcutthemdown(forthetreeof thefieldisman'slife)toemploytheminthesiege:

20Onlythetreeswhichthouknowestthattheybenottrees formeat,thoushaltdestroyandcutthemdown;andthou shaltbuildbulwarksagainstthecitythatmakethwarwith thee,untilitbesubdued

CHAPTER21

1IfonebefoundslaininthelandwhichtheLORDthy Godgiveththeetopossessit,lyinginthefield,anditbe notknownwhohathslainhim:

2Thenthyeldersandthyjudgesshallcomeforth,andthey shallmeasureuntothecitieswhichareroundabouthim thatisslain:

3Anditshallbe,thatthecitywhichisnextuntotheslain man,eventheeldersofthatcityshalltakeanheifer,which hathnotbeenwroughtwith,andwhichhathnotdrawnin theyoke;

4Andtheeldersofthatcityshallbringdowntheheifer untoaroughvalley,whichisneitherearednorsown,and shallstrikeofftheheifer'sneckthereinthevalley:

5AndtheprieststhesonsofLevishallcomenear;for themtheLORDthyGodhathchosentoministeruntohim, andtoblessinthenameoftheLORD;andbytheirword shalleverycontroversyandeverystrokebetried:

6Andalltheeldersofthatcity,thatarenextuntotheslain man,shallwashtheirhandsovertheheiferthatisbeheaded inthevalley:

7Andtheyshallanswerandsay,Ourhandshavenotshed thisblood,neitherhaveoureyesseenit.

8Bemerciful,OLORD,untothypeopleIsrael,whom thouhastredeemed,andlaynotinnocentblooduntothy peopleofIsrael'scharge.Andthebloodshallbeforgiven them

9Soshaltthouputawaytheguiltofinnocentbloodfrom amongyou,whenthoushaltdothatwhichisrightinthe sightoftheLORD

10Whenthougoestforthtowaragainstthineenemies,and theLORDthyGodhathdeliveredthemintothinehands, andthouhasttakenthemcaptive,

11Andseestamongthecaptivesabeautifulwoman,and hastadesireuntoher,thatthouwouldesthavehertothy wife;

12Thenthoushaltbringherhometothinehouse;andshe shallshaveherhead,andparehernails;

13Andsheshallputtheraimentofhercaptivityfromoff her,andshallremaininthinehouse,andbewailherfather andhermotherafullmonth:andafterthatthoushaltgoin untoher,andbeherhusband,andsheshallbethywife

14Anditshallbe,ifthouhavenodelightinher,thenthou shaltlethergowhithershewill;butthoushaltnotsellher atallformoney,thoushaltnotmakemerchandiseofher, becausethouhasthumbledher.

15Ifamanhavetwowives,onebeloved,andanother hated,andtheyhavebornhimchildren,boththebeloved andthehated;andifthefirstbornsonbehersthatwas hated:

16Thenitshallbe,whenhemakethhissonstoinheritthat whichhehath,thathemaynotmakethesonofthebeloved firstbornbeforethesonofthehated,whichisindeedthe firstborn:

17Butheshallacknowledgethesonofthehatedforthe firstborn,bygivinghimadoubleportionofallthathehath:

forheisthebeginningofhisstrength;therightofthe firstbornishis

18Ifamanhaveastubbornandrebelliousson,whichwill notobeythevoiceofhisfather,orthevoiceofhismother, andthat,whentheyhavechastenedhim,willnothearken untothem:

19Thenshallhisfatherandhismotherlayholdonhim, andbringhimoutuntotheeldersofhiscity,anduntothe gateofhisplace;

20Andtheyshallsayuntotheeldersofhiscity,Thisour sonisstubbornandrebellious,hewillnotobeyourvoice; heisaglutton,andadrunkard

21Andallthemenofhiscityshallstonehimwithstones, thathedie:soshaltthouputevilawayfromamongyou; andallIsraelshallhear,andfear

22Andifamanhavecommittedasinworthyofdeath,and hebetobeputtodeath,andthouhanghimonatree: 23Hisbodyshallnotremainallnightuponthetree,but thoushaltinanywiseburyhimthatday;(forhethatis hangedisaccursedofGod;)thatthylandbenotdefiled, whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeeforaninheritance

CHAPTER22

1Thoushaltnotseethybrother'soxorhissheepgoastray, andhidethyselffromthem:thoushaltinanycasebring themagainuntothybrother

2Andifthybrotherbenotnighuntothee,orifthouknow himnot,thenthoushaltbringituntothineownhouse,and itshallbewiththeeuntilthybrotherseekafterit,andthou shaltrestoreittohimagain

3Inlikemannershaltthoudowithhisass;andsoshalt thoudowithhisraiment;andwithalllostthingofthy brother's,whichhehathlost,andthouhastfound,shalt thoudolikewise:thoumayestnothidethyself.

4Thoushaltnotseethybrother'sassorhisoxfalldownby theway,andhidethyselffromthem:thoushaltsurelyhelp himtoliftthemupagain.

5Thewomanshallnotwearthatwhichpertainethuntoa man,neithershallamanputonawoman'sgarment:forall thatdosoareabominationuntotheLORDthyGod.

6Ifabird'snestchancetobebeforetheeinthewayinany tree,orontheground,whethertheybeyoungones,oreggs, andthedamsittingupontheyoung,orupontheeggs,thou shaltnottakethedamwiththeyoung:

7Butthoushaltinanywiseletthedamgo,andtakethe youngtothee;thatitmaybewellwiththee,andthatthou mayestprolongthydays

8Whenthoubuildestanewhouse,thenthoushaltmakea battlementforthyroof,thatthoubringnotbloodupon thinehouse,ifanymanfallfromthence

9Thoushaltnotsowthyvineyardwithdiversseeds:lest thefruitofthyseedwhichthouhastsown,andthefruitof thyvineyard,bedefiled

10Thoushaltnotplowwithanoxandanasstogether.

11Thoushaltnotwearagarmentofdiverssorts,asof woollenandlinentogether

12Thoushaltmaketheefringesuponthefourquartersof thyvesture,wherewiththoucoverestthyself

13Ifanymantakeawife,andgoinuntoher,andhateher, 14Andgiveoccasionsofspeechagainsther,andbringup anevilnameuponher,andsay,Itookthiswoman,and whenIcametoher,Ifoundhernotamaid:

15Thenshallthefatherofthedamsel,andhermother,take andbringforththetokensofthedamsel'svirginityuntothe eldersofthecityinthegate:

16Andthedamsel'sfathershallsayuntotheelders,Igave mydaughteruntothismantowife,andhehatethher;

17And,lo,hehathgivenoccasionsofspeechagainsther, saying,Ifoundnotthydaughteramaid;andyettheseare thetokensofmydaughter'svirginity.Andtheyshallspread theclothbeforetheeldersofthecity.

18Andtheeldersofthatcityshalltakethatmanand chastisehim;

19Andtheyshallamercehiminanhundredshekelsof silver,andgivethemuntothefatherofthedamsel,because hehathbroughtupanevilnameuponavirginofIsrael: andsheshallbehiswife;hemaynotputherawayallhis days

20Butifthisthingbetrue,andthetokensofvirginitybe notfoundforthedamsel:

21Thentheyshallbringoutthedamseltothedoorofher father'shouse,andthemenofhercityshallstoneherwith stonesthatshedie:becauseshehathwroughtfollyinIsrael, toplaythewhoreinherfather'shouse:soshaltthouput evilawayfromamongyou.

22Ifamanbefoundlyingwithawomanmarriedtoan husband,thentheyshallbothofthemdie,boththeman thatlaywiththewoman,andthewoman:soshaltthouput awayevilfromIsrael

23Ifadamselthatisavirginbebetrotheduntoanhusband, andamanfindherinthecity,andliewithher;

24Thenyeshallbringthembothoutuntothegateofthat city,andyeshallstonethemwithstonesthattheydie;the damsel,becauseshecriednot,beinginthecity;andthe man,becausehehathhumbledhisneighbour'swife:so thoushaltputawayevilfromamongyou

25Butifamanfindabetrotheddamselinthefield,andthe manforceher,andliewithher:thenthemanonlythatlay withhershalldie:

26Butuntothedamselthoushaltdonothing;thereisin thedamselnosinworthyofdeath:foraswhenamanriseth againsthisneighbour,andslayethhim,evensoisthis matter:

27Forhefoundherinthefield,andthebetrotheddamsel cried,andtherewasnonetosaveher.

28Ifamanfindadamselthatisavirgin,whichisnot betrothed,andlayholdonher,andliewithher,andtheybe found;

29Thenthemanthatlaywithhershallgiveuntothe damsel'sfatherfiftyshekelsofsilver,andsheshallbehis wife;becausehehathhumbledher,hemaynotputher awayallhisdays

30Amanshallnottakehisfather'swife,nordiscoverhis father'sskirt.

CHAPTER23

1Hethatiswoundedinthestones,orhathhisprivy membercutoff,shallnotenterintothecongregationofthe LORD.

2Abastardshallnotenterintothecongregationofthe LORD;eventohistenthgenerationshallhenotenterinto thecongregationoftheLORD.

3AnAmmoniteorMoabiteshallnotenterintothe congregationoftheLORD;eventotheirtenthgeneration

shalltheynotenterintothecongregationoftheLORDfor ever:

4Becausetheymetyounotwithbreadandwithwaterin theway,whenyecameforthoutofEgypt;andbecause theyhiredagainsttheeBalaamthesonofBeorofPethorof Mesopotamia,tocursethee

5NeverthelesstheLORDthyGodwouldnothearkenunto Balaam;buttheLORDthyGodturnedthecurseintoa blessinguntothee,becausetheLORDthyGodlovedthee.

6Thoushaltnotseektheirpeacenortheirprosperityall thydaysforever.

7ThoushaltnotabhoranEdomite;forheisthybrother: thoushaltnotabhoranEgyptian;becausethouwasta strangerinhisland.

8Thechildrenthatarebegottenofthemshallenterintothe congregationoftheLORDintheirthirdgeneration

9Whenthehostgoethforthagainstthineenemies,then keeptheefromeverywickedthing

10Iftherebeamongyouanyman,thatisnotcleanby reasonofuncleannessthatchancethhimbynight,then shallhegoabroadoutofthecamp,heshallnotcome withinthecamp:

11Butitshallbe,wheneveningcomethon,heshallwash himselfwithwater:andwhenthesunisdown,heshall comeintothecampagain

12Thoushalthaveaplacealsowithoutthecamp,whither thoushaltgoforthabroad:

13Andthoushalthaveapaddleuponthyweapon;andit shallbe,whenthouwilteasethyselfabroad,thoushaltdig therewith,andshaltturnbackandcoverthatwhichcometh fromthee:

16Heshalldwellwiththee,evenamongyou,inthatplace whichheshallchooseinoneofthygates,whereitliketh himbest:thoushaltnotoppresshim.

17ThereshallbenowhoreofthedaughtersofIsrael,nora sodomiteofthesonsofIsrael

18Thoushaltnotbringthehireofawhore,orthepriceof adog,intothehouseoftheLORDthyGodforanyvow: forevenboththeseareabominationuntotheLORDthy God

19Thoushaltnotlenduponusurytothybrother;usuryof money,usuryofvictuals,usuryofanythingthatislent uponusury:

20Untoastrangerthoumayestlenduponusury;butunto thybrotherthoushaltnotlenduponusury:thattheLORD thyGodmayblesstheeinallthatthousettestthinehandto inthelandwhitherthougoesttopossessit

21WhenthoushaltvowavowuntotheLORDthyGod, thoushaltnotslacktopayit:fortheLORDthyGodwill surelyrequireitofthee;anditwouldbesininthee

22Butifthoushaltforbeartovow,itshallbenosininthee

23Thatwhichisgoneoutofthylipsthoushaltkeepand perform;evenafreewilloffering,accordingasthouhast voweduntotheLORDthyGod,whichthouhastpromised withthymouth.

24Whenthoucomestintothyneighbour'svineyard,then thoumayesteatgrapesthyfillatthineownpleasure;but thoushaltnotputanyinthyvessel

25Whenthoucomestintothestandingcornofthy neighbour,thenthoumayestplucktheearswiththinehand; butthoushaltnotmoveasickleuntothyneighbour's standingcorn

CHAPTER24

1Whenamanhathtakenawife,andmarriedher,andit cometopassthatshefindnofavourinhiseyes,becausehe hathfoundsomeuncleannessinher:thenlethimwriteher abillofdivorcement,andgiveitinherhand,andsendher outofhishouse

2Andwhensheisdepartedoutofhishouse,shemaygo andbeanotherman'swife.

3Andifthelatterhusbandhateher,andwriteherabillof divorcement,andgivethitinherhand,andsendethherout ofhishouse;orifthelatterhusbanddie,whichtookherto behiswife;

4Herformerhusband,whichsentheraway,maynottake heragaintobehiswife,afterthatsheisdefiled;forthatis abominationbeforetheLORD:andthoushaltnotcausethe landtosin,whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeeforan inheritance.

5Whenamanhathtakenanewwife,heshallnotgooutto war,neithershallhebechargedwithanybusiness:buthe shallbefreeathomeoneyear,andshallcheeruphiswife whichhehathtaken

6Nomanshalltakethenetherortheuppermillstoneto pledge:forhetakethaman'slifetopledge.

7Ifamanbefoundstealinganyofhisbrethrenofthe childrenofIsrael,andmakethmerchandiseofhim,or sellethhim;thenthatthiefshalldie;andthoushaltputevil awayfromamongyou

8Takeheedintheplagueofleprosy,thatthouobserve diligently,anddoaccordingtoallthattheprieststhe Levitesshallteachyou:asIcommandedthem,soyeshall observetodo.

9RememberwhattheLORDthyGoddiduntoMiriamby theway,afterthatyewerecomeforthoutofEgypt

10Whenthoudostlendthybrotheranything,thoushalt notgointohishousetofetchhispledge.

11Thoushaltstandabroad,andthemantowhomthou dostlendshallbringoutthepledgeabroaduntothee

12Andifthemanbepoor,thoushaltnotsleepwithhis pledge:

13Inanycasethoushaltdeliverhimthepledgeagain whenthesungoethdown,thathemaysleepinhisown raiment,andblessthee:anditshallberighteousnessunto theebeforetheLORDthyGod.

14Thoushaltnotoppressanhiredservantthatispoorand needy,whetherhebeofthybrethren,orofthystrangers thatareinthylandwithinthygates:

15Athisdaythoushaltgivehimhishire,neithershallthe sungodownuponit;forheispoor,andsettethhisheart uponit:lesthecryagainsttheeuntotheLORD,anditbe sinuntothee

16Thefathersshallnotbeputtodeathforthechildren, neithershallthechildrenbeputtodeathforthefathers: everymanshallbeputtodeathforhisownsin

17Thoushaltnotpervertthejudgmentofthestranger,nor ofthefatherless;nortakeawidow'sraimenttopledge: 18Butthoushaltrememberthatthouwastabondmanin Egypt,andtheLORDthyGodredeemedtheethence: thereforeIcommandtheetodothisthing.

19Whenthoucuttestdownthineharvestinthyfield,and hastforgotasheafinthefield,thoushaltnotgoagainto fetchit:itshallbeforthestranger,forthefatherless,and forthewidow:thattheLORDthyGodmayblesstheein alltheworkofthinehands

20Whenthoubeatestthineolivetree,thoushaltnotgo overtheboughsagain:itshallbeforthestranger,forthe fatherless,andforthewidow

21Whenthougatherestthegrapesofthyvineyard,thou shaltnotgleanitafterward:itshallbeforthestranger,for thefatherless,andforthewidow

22Andthoushaltrememberthatthouwastabondmanin thelandofEgypt:thereforeIcommandtheetodothis thing

CHAPTER25

1Iftherebeacontroversybetweenmen,andtheycome untojudgment,thatthejudgesmayjudgethem;thenthey shalljustifytherighteous,andcondemnthewicked

2Anditshallbe,ifthewickedmanbeworthytobebeaten, thatthejudgeshallcausehimtoliedown,andtobebeaten beforehisface,accordingtohisfault,byacertainnumber

3Fortystripeshemaygivehim,andnotexceed:lest,ifhe shouldexceed,andbeathimabovethesewithmanystripes, thenthybrothershouldseemvileuntothee

4Thoushaltnotmuzzletheoxwhenhetreadethoutthe corn

5Ifbrethrendwelltogether,andoneofthemdie,andhave nochild,thewifeofthedeadshallnotmarrywithoutunto astranger:herhusband'sbrothershallgoinuntoher,and takehertohimtowife,andperformthedutyofan husband'sbrotheruntoher.

6Anditshallbe,thatthefirstbornwhichshebearethshall succeedinthenameofhisbrotherwhichisdead,thathis namebenotputoutofIsrael.

7Andifthemanlikenottotakehisbrother'swife,thenlet hisbrother'swifegouptothegateuntotheelders,andsay, Myhusband'sbrotherrefusethtoraiseupuntohisbrothera nameinIsrael,hewillnotperformthedutyofmy husband'sbrother

8Thentheeldersofhiscityshallcallhim,andspeakunto him:andifhestandtoit,andsay,Ilikenottotakeher; 9Thenshallhisbrother'swifecomeuntohiminthe presenceoftheelders,andloosehisshoefromoffhisfoot, andspitinhisface,andshallanswerandsay,Soshallitbe doneuntothatmanthatwillnotbuilduphisbrother's house

10AndhisnameshallbecalledinIsrael,Thehouseofhim thathathhisshoeloosed.

11Whenmenstrivetogetheronewithanother,andthe wifeoftheonedrawethnearfortodeliverherhusbandout ofthehandofhimthatsmitethhim,andputtethforthher hand,andtakethhimbythesecrets:

12Thenthoushaltcutoffherhand,thineeyeshallnotpity her.

13Thoushaltnothaveinthybagdiversweights,agreat andasmall

14Thoushaltnothaveinthinehousediversmeasures,a greatandasmall

15Butthoushalthaveaperfectandjustweight,aperfect andjustmeasureshaltthouhave:thatthydaysmaybe lengthenedinthelandwhichtheLORDthyGodgiveth thee

16Forallthatdosuchthings,andallthatdounrighteously, areanabominationuntotheLORDthyGod.

17RememberwhatAmalekdiduntotheebytheway, whenyewerecomeforthoutofEgypt;

18Howhemettheebytheway,andsmotethehindmostof thee,evenallthatwerefeeblebehindthee,whenthouwast faintandweary;andhefearednotGod

19Thereforeitshallbe,whentheLORDthyGodhath giventheerestfromallthineenemiesroundabout,inthe landwhichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeeforan inheritancetopossessit,thatthoushaltblotoutthe remembranceofAmalekfromunderheaven;thoushaltnot forgetit

1Anditshallbe,whenthouartcomeinuntotheland whichtheLORDthyGodgiveththeeforaninheritance, andpossessestit,anddwellesttherein;

2Thatthoushalttakeofthefirstofallthefruitoftheearth, whichthoushaltbringofthylandthattheLORDthyGod giveththee,andshaltputitinabasket,andshaltgounto theplacewhichtheLORDthyGodshallchoosetoplace hisnamethere

3Andthoushaltgountothepriestthatshallbeinthose days,andsayuntohim,IprofessthisdayuntotheLORD thyGod,thatIamcomeuntothecountrywhichtheLORD swareuntoourfathersfortogiveus

4Andthepriestshalltakethebasketoutofthinehand,and setitdownbeforethealtaroftheLORDthyGod

5AndthoushaltspeakandsaybeforetheLORDthyGod, ASyrianreadytoperishwasmyfather,andhewentdown intoEgypt,andsojournedtherewithafew,andbecame thereanation,great,mighty,andpopulous:

6AndtheEgyptiansevilentreatedus,andafflictedus,and laiduponushardbondage:

7AndwhenwecrieduntotheLORDGodofourfathers, theLORDheardourvoice,andlookedonouraffliction, andourlabour,andouroppression:

8AndtheLORDbroughtusforthoutofEgyptwitha mightyhand,andwithanoutstretchedarm,andwithgreat terribleness,andwithsigns,andwithwonders:

9Andhehathbroughtusintothisplace,andhathgivenus thisland,evenalandthatflowethwithmilkandhoney

11Andthoushaltrejoiceineverygoodthingwhichthe LORDthyGodhathgivenuntothee,anduntothinehouse, thou,andtheLevite,andthestrangerthatisamongyou 12Whenthouhastmadeanendoftithingallthetithesof thineincreasethethirdyear,whichistheyearoftithing, andhastgivenituntotheLevite,thestranger,thefatherless, andthewidow,thattheymayeatwithinthygates,andbe filled;

12TheLORDshallopenuntotheehisgoodtreasure,the heaventogivetherainuntothylandinhisseason,andto blessalltheworkofthinehand:andthoushaltlendunto manynations,andthoushaltnotborrow

22TheLORDshallsmitetheewithaconsumption,and withafever,andwithaninflammation,andwithan extremeburning,andwiththesword,andwithblasting, andwithmildew;andtheyshallpursuetheeuntilthou perish

23Andthyheaventhatisoverthyheadshallbebrass,and theearththatisundertheeshallbeiron

24TheLORDshallmaketherainofthylandpowderand dust:fromheavenshallitcomedownuponthee,untilthou bedestroyed

25TheLORDshallcausetheetobesmittenbeforethine enemies:thoushaltgooutonewayagainstthem,andflee sevenwaysbeforethem:andshaltberemovedintoallthe kingdomsoftheearth

26Andthycarcaseshallbemeatuntoallfowlsoftheair, anduntothebeastsoftheearth,andnomanshallfraythem away

27TheLORDwillsmitetheewiththebotchofEgypt,and withtheemerods,andwiththescab,andwiththeitch, whereofthoucanstnotbehealed

28TheLORDshallsmitetheewithmadness,and blindness,andastonishmentofheart:

56Thetenderanddelicatewomanamongyou,which wouldnotadventuretosetthesoleofherfootuponthe groundfordelicatenessandtenderness,hereyeshallbe eviltowardthehusbandofherbosom,andtowardherson, andtowardherdaughter,

63Anditshallcometopass,thatastheLORDrejoiced overyoutodoyougood,andtomultiplyyou;sothe LORDwillrejoiceoveryoutodestroyyou,andtobring youtonought;andyeshallbepluckedfromofftheland whitherthougoesttopossessit

64AndtheLORDshallscattertheeamongallpeople, fromtheoneendoftheearthevenuntotheother;andthere

thoushaltserveothergods,whichneitherthounorthy fathershaveknown,evenwoodandstone

65Andamongthesenationsshaltthoufindnoease, neithershallthesoleofthyfoothaverest:buttheLORD shallgivetheethereatremblingheart,andfailingofeyes, andsorrowofmind:

66Andthylifeshallhangindoubtbeforethee;andthou shaltfeardayandnight,andshalthavenoneassuranceof thylife:

67Inthemorningthoushaltsay,WouldGoditwereeven! andateventhoushaltsay,WouldGoditweremorning!for thefearofthineheartwherewiththoushaltfear,andforthe sightofthineeyeswhichthoushaltsee

2AndMosescalleduntoallIsrael,andsaiduntothem,Ye haveseenallthattheLORDdidbeforeyoureyesinthe landofEgyptuntoPharaoh,anduntoallhisservants,and untoallhisland;

3Thegreattemptationswhichthineeyeshaveseen,the signs,andthosegreatmiracles:

4YettheLORDhathnotgivenyouanhearttoperceive, andeyestosee,andearstohear,untothisday

5AndIhaveledyoufortyyearsinthewilderness:your clothesarenotwaxenolduponyou,andthyshoeisnot waxenolduponthyfoot

6Yehavenoteatenbread,neitherhaveyedrunkwineor strongdrink:thatyemightknowthatIamtheLORDyour God

7Andwhenyecameuntothisplace,Sihonthekingof Heshbon,andOgthekingofBashan,cameoutagainstus untobattle,andwesmotethem:

8Andwetooktheirland,andgaveitforaninheritance untotheReubenites,andtotheGadites,andtothehalf tribeofManasseh

9Keepthereforethewordsofthiscovenant,anddothem, thatyemayprosperinallthatyedo

10YestandthisdayallofyoubeforetheLORDyourGod; yourcaptainsofyourtribes,yourelders,andyourofficers, withallthemenofIsrael,

14NeitherwithyouonlydoImakethiscovenantandthis oath;

15Butwithhimthatstandethherewithusthisdaybefore theLORDourGod,andalsowithhimthatisnotherewith usthisday:

16(ForyeknowhowwehavedweltinthelandofEgypt; andhowwecamethroughthenationswhichyepassedby; 17Andyehaveseentheirabominations,andtheiridols, woodandstone,silverandgold,whichwereamongthem:)

18Lestthereshouldbeamongyouman,orwoman,or family,ortribe,whoseheartturnethawaythisdayfromthe LORDourGod,togoandservethegodsofthesenations; lestthereshouldbeamongyouarootthatbearethgalland wormwood;

19Anditcometopass,whenheheareththewordsofthis curse,thatheblesshimselfinhisheart,saying,Ishallhave peace,thoughIwalkintheimaginationofmineheart,to adddrunkennesstothirst:

20TheLORDwillnotsparehim,butthentheangerofthe LORDandhisjealousyshallsmokeagainstthatman,and allthecursesthatarewritteninthisbookshalllieupon him,andtheLORDshallblotouthisnamefromunder heaven

21AndtheLORDshallseparatehimuntoeviloutofall thetribesofIsrael,accordingtoallthecursesofthe covenantthatarewritteninthisbookofthelaw:

22Sothatthegenerationtocomeofyourchildrenthat shallriseupafteryou,andthestrangerthatshallcome fromafarland,shallsay,whentheyseetheplaguesofthat land,andthesicknesseswhichtheLORDhathlaiduponit;

23Andthatthewholelandthereofisbrimstone,andsalt, andburning,thatitisnotsown,norbeareth,noranygrass groweththerein,liketheoverthrowofSodom,and Gomorrah,Admah,andZeboim,whichtheLORD overthrewinhisanger,andinhiswrath:

24Evenallnationsshallsay,WhereforehaththeLORD donethusuntothisland?whatmeaneththeheatofthis greatanger?

25Thenmenshallsay,Becausetheyhaveforsakenthe covenantoftheLORDGodoftheirfathers,whichhemade withthemwhenhebroughtthemforthoutofthelandof Egypt:

26Fortheywentandservedothergods,andworshipped them,godswhomtheyknewnot,andwhomhehadnot givenuntothem:

27AndtheangeroftheLORDwaskindledagainstthis land,tobringuponitallthecursesthatarewritteninthis book:

28AndtheLORDrootedthemoutoftheirlandinanger, andinwrath,andingreatindignation,andcasttheminto anotherland,asitisthisday.

29ThesecretthingsbelonguntotheLORDourGod:but thosethingswhicharerevealedbelonguntousandtoour childrenforever,thatwemaydoallthewordsofthislaw.

CHAPTER30

1Anditshallcometopass,whenallthesethingsarecome uponthee,theblessingandthecurse,whichIhaveset beforethee,andthoushaltcallthemtomindamongallthe nations,whithertheLORDthyGodhathdriventhee, 2AndshaltreturnuntotheLORDthyGod,andshaltobey hisvoiceaccordingtoallthatIcommandtheethisday, thouandthychildren,withallthineheart,andwithallthy soul;

3ThatthentheLORDthyGodwillturnthycaptivity,and havecompassionuponthee,andwillreturnandgatherthee fromallthenations,whithertheLORDthyGodhath scatteredthee

4Ifanyofthinebedrivenoutuntotheoutmostpartsof heaven,fromthencewilltheLORDthyGodgatherthee, andfromthencewillhefetchthee:

5AndtheLORDthyGodwillbringtheeintotheland whichthyfatherspossessed,andthoushaltpossessit;and hewilldotheegood,andmultiplytheeabovethyfathers 6AndtheLORDthyGodwillcircumcisethineheart,and theheartofthyseed,tolovetheLORDthyGodwithall thineheart,andwithallthysoul,thatthoumayestlive 7AndtheLORDthyGodwillputallthesecursesupon thineenemies,andonthemthathatethee,which persecutedthee

8AndthoushaltreturnandobeythevoiceoftheLORD, anddoallhiscommandmentswhichIcommandtheethis day

9AndtheLORDthyGodwillmaketheeplenteousin everyworkofthinehand,inthefruitofthybody,andin thefruitofthycattle,andinthefruitofthyland,forgood: fortheLORDwillagainrejoiceovertheeforgood,ashe rejoicedoverthyfathers:

17Butifthineheartturnaway,sothatthouwiltnothear, butshaltbedrawnaway,andworshipothergods,andserve them;

18Idenounceuntoyouthisday,thatyeshallsurelyperish, andthatyeshallnotprolongyourdaysupontheland, whitherthoupassestoverJordantogotopossessit

19Icallheavenandearthtorecordthisdayagainstyou, thatIhavesetbeforeyoulifeanddeath,blessingand cursing:thereforechooselife,thatboththouandthyseed maylive:

11WhenallIsraeliscometoappearbeforetheLORDthy Godintheplacewhichheshallchoose,thoushaltreadthis lawbeforeallIsraelintheirhearing

12Gatherthepeopletogether,men,andwomen,and children,andthystrangerthatiswithinthygates,thatthey mayhear,andthattheymaylearn,andfeartheLORDyour God,andobservetodoallthewordsofthislaw:

13Andthattheirchildren,whichhavenotknownany thing,mayhear,andlearntofeartheLORDyourGod,as longasyeliveinthelandwhitheryegooverJordanto possessit

14AndtheLORDsaiduntoMoses,Behold,thydays approachthatthoumustdie:callJoshua,andpresent yourselvesinthetabernacleofthecongregation,thatImay givehimacharge.AndMosesandJoshuawent,and presentedthemselvesinthetabernacleofthecongregation

15AndtheLORDappearedinthetabernacleinapillarof acloud:andthepillarofthecloudstoodoverthedoorof thetabernacle

16AndtheLORDsaiduntoMoses,Behold,thoushalt sleepwiththyfathers;andthispeoplewillriseup,andgoa whoringafterthegodsofthestrangersoftheland,whither theygotobeamongthem,andwillforsakeme,andbreak mycovenantwhichIhavemadewiththem.

17Thenmyangershallbekindledagainsttheminthatday, andIwillforsakethem,andIwillhidemyfacefromthem, andtheyshallbedevoured,andmanyevilsandtroubles shallbefallthem;sothattheywillsayinthatday,Arenot theseevilscomeuponus,becauseourGodisnotamongus?

18AndIwillsurelyhidemyfaceinthatdayforallthe evilswhichtheyshallhavewrought,inthattheyareturned untoothergods

19Nowthereforewriteyethissongforyou,andteachit thechildrenofIsrael:putitintheirmouths,thatthissong maybeawitnessformeagainstthechildrenofIsrael

20ForwhenIshallhavebroughtthemintothelandwhich Iswareuntotheirfathers,thatflowethwithmilkandhoney; andtheyshallhaveeatenandfilledthemselves,andwaxen fat;thenwilltheyturnuntoothergods,andservethem, andprovokeme,andbreakmycovenant.

21Anditshallcometopass,whenmanyevilsandtroubles arebefallenthem,thatthissongshalltestifyagainstthem asawitness;foritshallnotbeforgottenoutofthemouths oftheirseed:forIknowtheirimaginationwhichtheygo about,evennow,beforeIhavebroughtthemintotheland whichIsware.

22Mosesthereforewrotethissongthesameday,and taughtitthechildrenofIsrael

23AndhegaveJoshuathesonofNunacharge,andsaid, Bestrongandofagoodcourage:forthoushaltbringthe childrenofIsraelintothelandwhichIswareuntothem: andIwillbewiththee.

29ForIknowthataftermydeathyewillutterlycorrupt yourselves,andturnasidefromthewaywhichIhave commandedyou;andevilwillbefallyouinthelatterdays; becauseyewilldoevilinthesightoftheLORD,to provokehimtoangerthroughtheworkofyourhands.

1Giveear,Oyeheavens,andIwillspeak;andhear,O earth,thewordsofmymouth

2Mydoctrineshalldropastherain,myspeechshalldistil asthedew,asthesmallrainuponthetenderherb,andas theshowersuponthegrass:

3BecauseIwillpublishthenameoftheLORD:ascribeye greatnessuntoourGod.

4HeistheRock,hisworkisperfect:forallhiswaysare judgment:aGodoftruthandwithoutiniquity,justand rightishe.

5Theyhavecorruptedthemselves,theirspotisnotthespot ofhischildren:theyareaperverseandcrookedgeneration

14Butterofkine,andmilkofsheep,withfatoflambs,and ramsofthebreedofBashan,andgoats,withthefatof kidneysofwheat;andthoudidstdrinkthepurebloodof thegrape

15ButJeshurunwaxedfat,andkicked:thouartwaxenfat, thouartgrownthick,thouartcoveredwithfatness;thenhe forsookGodwhichmadehim,andlightlyesteemedthe Rockofhissalvation

16Theyprovokedhimtojealousywithstrangegods,with abominationsprovokedtheyhimtoanger

24Theyshallbeburntwithhunger,anddevouredwith burningheat,andwithbitterdestruction:Iwillalsosend theteethofbeastsuponthem,withthepoisonofserpents ofthedust

25Theswordwithout,andterrorwithin,shalldestroyboth theyoungmanandthevirgin,thesucklingalsowiththe manofgrayhairs

2AndallNaphtali,andthelandofEphraim,andManasseh, andallthelandofJudah,untotheutmostsea,

3Andthesouth,andtheplainofthevalleyofJericho,the cityofpalmtrees,untoZoar

4AndtheLORDsaiduntohim,ThisisthelandwhichI swareuntoAbraham,untoIsaac,anduntoJacob,saying,I willgiveituntothyseed:Ihavecausedtheetoseeitwith thineeyes,butthoushaltnotgooverthither

5SoMosestheservantoftheLORDdiedthereintheland ofMoab,accordingtothewordoftheLORD

6AndheburiedhiminavalleyinthelandofMoab,over againstBethpeor:butnomanknowethofhissepulchre untothisday

7AndMoseswasanhundredandtwentyyearsoldwhen hedied:hiseyewasnotdim,norhisnaturalforceabated.

8AndthechildrenofIsraelweptforMosesintheplainsof Moabthirtydays:sothedaysofweepingandmourningfor Moseswereended.

9AndJoshuathesonofNunwasfullofthespiritof wisdom;forMoseshadlaidhishandsuponhim:andthe

childrenofIsraelhearkeneduntohim,anddidasthe LORDcommandedMoses

10AndtherearosenotaprophetsinceinIsraellikeunto Moses,whomtheLORDknewfacetoface, 11Inallthesignsandthewonders,whichtheLORDsent himtodointhelandofEgypttoPharaoh,andtoallhis servants,andtoallhisland, 12Andinallthatmightyhand,andinallthegreatterror whichMosesshewedinthesightofallIsrael.
