[1] cube Project: operation interlockvv In this Project, Students are required to use spatial verbs to create a cube object which not only conveys formal, but also spaial ideas pertaining to the given verb. As my spatial verb is interlock, I attempted to incorporate intersecting planes supported by wooden sticks, creating an object which comprises of smaller architectural units. These units then forms the interlocking of spaces.

[2.1]Spatial sequence drawings: Newhouse I In This study, the students are required to investigate some of the spatial qualities within buildings, placing an emphasis on the study of spatial sequence. As I investigated Newhouse I, I gradually started to understand the idea of threshhold and compression that is present in this building. The building also shows distinct experiential qualities.

[2.2] Creating spaces In this project, we are to produce models, as well as perspective drawings of an object which fits within the dimension of 9*9*9’. In this project, I intend to develop an object which learns from the concept of threshold in the previous project. And I also wanted to experiment and cultivate an architectural language in my building. This project allowed me to carefully consider the experiential qualities within each of the spaces in the object, and truly develop a spatial narrative connected by means of circulation.

These perspective drawings are meant to convey a spatial sequence, rendering the visual experience one would have in the building.

[3]Case study: Moriyama House by SANAA In this project, we focused on studying a famous house. And I investigated the Moriyama House. Moriyama house has a unique programatic arrangement as there are 10 completely seperate spatial volumes placed together on the plot. The volumes together creates pockets of spaces in between to allow social interactions. It also employs windows for different purposes: either for getting a view, or for lighting. I focuses on analyzing the lighting condition of the house, and realized that the unique volumes are to represent the city as it is almost a microcosm of the city of Tokyo.

[4]House for a digital media artist In this house, students are to design a house for a specific type of artists. There are programatic requirements for artists as they will need a studio, exhibition areas, and living spaces. To overcome this challenge I first enaged in extensive research on the spaces required for the digital media artist to produce art, and then I mapped out the organization of the house. Drawing inspiration from Moriyama house and previous studies, I try to incoporate the control of light, and give careful consideration to the site of the building.
