(Concerning the violations which affected the Kuwaiti citizens during a peaceful demonstration) The International Association of Rights and Freedoms follows with a Serious concern the violations that affected the public freedoms in Kuwait such as the attacks and prejudice to the right of citizens. The most recently what the Vigils which contained crowds of citizens and human rights actors and sympathizers in solidarity with the political detainee, the former Deputy Musallam al-Barrak opposed, as the demonstrators were faced with excessive force that amounted to launch rubber bullets at citizens who are practicing their right to a peaceful protest and the use of gas and smoke bombs and tear gas and beatings by the security forces, causing by that injuries of varying severity in the crowds of the demonstrators, in addition to the arbitrary arrests that many of them have opposed. The International Association of Rights and Freedoms affirms, according to its sources that are depending on the field monitoring, that the vigils were peaceful and came to protest against the arrest of a former deputy. These violations were monitored by human rights organizations in order to ensure the right of citizens to protest and to ensure its peaceful, and monitoring the violations by the security forces. On the other hand, the International Association denounces the following: 1- The arbitrary arrest that subjected to citizens and preventing their families from reassuring them. 2- The attack on human rights defenders, from them, a human rights Monitor from the Kuwaiti observatory who was beaten by Dean Shukri al-Najjar and four of his masked companions and that is contrary to the Declaration on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, adopted and published under the General Assembly Resolution 53 / 144 dated 9December 1998. 3- Violations which affected the right of Kuwaiti citizens in the peaceful demonstration which is guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the right to express which is guaranteed by the Kuwaiti Constitution in Article 36 and international related to the political rights, and not to violate the rights of the Kuwaiti citizen to express his opinion. 4- The attack on the citizens and the use of excessive force causing injuries of varying severity in the crowds of the demonstrators, and this is incompatible with the citizen’s right to physical integrity and personal security. Accordingly, the Association of Rights and Freedoms calls for the following: 1- The immediate release for the detainees. 2- To start an investigation about the violations mentioned above and to order of sanctions on those responsible. 3- The Kuwaiti government must respect its commitments and international treaties. 4- The International Association of rights and freedoms declares in this regard on the composition of a committee to follow up the case and to support the detainees and doing the needed in front of the UN and regional mechanisms for the protection of human rights. 5- The use of all legal and legitimate means to combat violations and the protection of human rights activists. 6- The Kuwaiti Observatory for human rights “ which is a member within the International Association of Rights and Freedoms” “ must prepare a report on the case and showing it through a news conference, documented with pictures , videos and testimonies to inform the public , local and global opinion about the abuses that targeted the right to Kuwaiti citizens to express their opinion and to protest against the lack of integrity and independence of the judiciary and their solidarity with a political detainee. 7- The Kuwaiti government must bear its responsibility to what might happen by the developments in the next few days and its repeated illegal practices by using various forms of intimidation against the activists. Finally, the International Association of Rights and Freedoms alerts the protesters to commit to peaceful vigils. Chairman of the Board, Mr. Majdi Salem
