The International Association of Rights and Freedoms was surprised by the decision to dissolve the administrative board of the Kuwaiti Assembly for Basic Human Rights. This decision was issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor today’s morning. The International Association is protesting against this decision and declares the following: -The decision of dissolution of the administrative board of the Kuwaiti Assembly is arbitrary decision that is not based on any legal justification, in addition to not clarifying the reasons and justifications of the dissolution in the law of the ministry. -The decision of dissolution which is mentioned is considered to be oddity of what the Kuwaiti scene should be as Kuwait used to protect the citizens’ right to establish associations and freedom of expression and opinion, in addition, this decision ignores all the relevant laws and the international conventions ,especially that Kuwait was glorified as a global human Center. -It is considered as misuse of power, in addition to the politicization of the dissolution and lack of independence of the agency that issued the decision. - Using the power by some authorities to crack down on the Assembly was used two years ago till the issuance of the decision of the dissolution today. - The dissolution decision to be delivered in an official form to the President of the board of directors during meeting and hosting a high-level international delegation that included the Ambassador of the Netherlands and the representative of the Ministry of Human Rights in the same country, raises several doubts about the timing of the delivery of the decision with its negative effects. Accordingly, the Association calls for the following: - To eliminate the decision of dissolution of the administrative board of the Kuwaiti Assembly and ask for rehabilitation for its members. - To be committed to the law and the international conventions which guarantees the right of the citizens to form associations that aren’t dissolved only by an established adjudication, in addition to guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary. - To issue sanctions against the agency responsible for the violation. The International Association of Rights and Freedoms expresses its support and solidarity with and the dissolved Assembly in order to obtain their right through the legal, constitutional and available means, in addition to moving a quick lawsuit to sue the agency that issued the decision.
