Mid-Autumn Day  Objectives  Cultural objective: get to know the Chinese culture on

the date, the legend, the tradition rituals, the food etc.  Language objective: get to know how to say MidAutumn Day, how to express the simple wish for the Mid-Autumn Day


Activities: 1. story-based activities. 2. classwork and projects. 3. competition-based activities. 4. others

Mid-Autumn Day: story-based activities  Steps:  1. group the students by 5.

 2.distribute some pages of the story for the students to

read.  3.ask them to arrange the story in order.  4.ask a representative to retell the story.  5. see a video about the story and check their order.

The following activities are based on the general idea of MidAutumn Day


Mid-Autumn Day: classwork and project plan A  Steps:

 1. teach students how to write “月”。  2. write “月” on the plate.  3. color the plate yellow.

 4. make a hole in the middle and hang it like a moon.

 1. distribute the index cards to the students.  2. make the card to send to their teachers and their

friends.  It has to include the sentence “中秋节快乐” and at least 3 things about Mid-Autumn Day such as the exact day in lunar calendar, the food, Chang’e or Wugang etc. They can draw pictures or write Pinyin or chinese characters depending on their age and grade.
