SPEAKERS Mark Berrisford-Smith, Head of Economics, HSBC Having studied Economics at Sussex and London Universities, Mark is now Head of Economics for HSBC’s commercial banking business in the UK. He is responsible for advising the Bank in the UK and its business customers on developments in the British and global economies. Within this remit he takes a particular interest in monitoring the performance of European countries, and also China, as well as the evolving devolution and decentralization agenda in the UK. He speaks regularly at conferences & events organised or sponsored by HSBC (attending up to 130 such events a year).

Brent Cheshire, Chairman and Managing Director, DONG Energy UK Brent Cheshire is Country Chairman of DONG Energy in the UK and also Managing Director of DONG Energy Wind Power. He has responsibility for Asset and Country Management including oversight of Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations. He has been with the company since 2004, when he was appointed as its first UK employee and Managing Director for E&P. Over the last 10 years he has developed the business into one of the largest acreage holders in the West of Shetlands and the leading offshore Wind Developer in the UK. DONG Energy is one of the largest investors in the UK offshore wind industry and has invested over £5 billion to date in its developments and operations. In May 2012 DONG Energy acquired Shell Gas Direct, now DONG Energy for Business, to sell gas and electricity in the UK B2B market and this is currently number 3 in the wholesale market. In 1991 Brent joined Amerada Hess Corporation filling a number of senior positions, latterly as Senior Vice President for E&P Worldwide Technology. Prior to that Brent spent 14 years with Shell International Petroleum, much of it overseas. Brent gained an Honours degree in Geology from Durham University. Brent continues to support the development of Durham Energy Institute, for which he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree in 2012.

Francis Morgan, Director of Policy, Heathrow Airport Francis Morgan joined Heathrow Airport as Security Director in November 2013 from global law firm DLA Piper LLP where he was Director, Government Relations and Trade. Previously he worked as a senior civil servant in both the British Civil Service and European Commission, most recently holding posts as Head of International Aviation and Safety at the UK Department for Transport and aviation policy advisor to the European Commissioner for Transport. During 15 years in Brussels he worked on a range of international and European aviation issues, including the EU-US Open Skies negotiations, as well as spending time as an EU negotiator in WTO negotiations on trade in services. He graduated from the University of Wales in Cardiff.

Liam O'Keefe, Senior Director, FTI Consulting Liam O’Keefe is a Senior Director within the Public Affairs practice at FTI with business advisory experience spanning the international and domestic financial services and infrastructure sectors. Liam has led public affairs campaigns that underpin the delivery of the Northern Powerhouse agenda, including the implementation of integrated ticketing for transport networks across the North West, securing crucial infrastructure funding and advising on policy strategy for public and private sector actors. Liam has previously worked as an advisor within the European Parliament and as a communications specialist for Accounting for International Development.

Andrew Sentance CBE, Senior Economic Adviser, PwC Dr Andrew Sentance is a senior business economist based in the UK, now working with PwC as their Senior Economic Adviser. Before joining PwC, he served for five years (2006-11) on the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), through the global financial crisis and its aftermath. Prior to the Bank of England, Andrew held senior positions at the CBI, London Business School and British Airways, where he was Chief Economist and Head of Environmental Affairs and advised the airline on business strategy, regulation and major policy issues. He has provided economic advice to businesses, the UK government and international institutions throughout his career, as well as being a regular contributor to the media and publishing widely in academic and business books and journals. Andrew’s latest book - “Rediscovering growth: After the crisis” was published in late 2013 and he was awarded the CBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours list.

INVEST UK – PRESENTED BY IFB2016 25 NOVEMBER 2015 – LONDON Max Steinberg CBE, Chairman, IFB2016 Max Steinberg was appointed Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision in July 2010. On joining Liverpool Vision Max oversaw Liverpool’s award winning six-month participation in the World EXPO Shanghai 2010, a six-month global event based around the theme of ‘better city, better life’ which culminated in the Liverpool Gala Day on 16 October 2010. Max has also overseen the enhancement of Liverpool Vision’s business growth service, expansion of Liverpool Vision’s work in key international markets and the creation of Marketing Liverpool. Max was instrumental in securing the International Festival for Business 2014 which was held in Liverpool. He was Chair of the International Festival for Business 2014 and the scale and reach of the IFB has secured domestic sales and exports which have far exceeded the targets set. Max is now Chairing the 2016 Festival. Max was awarded the OBE in 1997 for services to Housing and Regeneration on Merseyside and In June 2013 Max was awarded the CBE for services to Business and the Community in the Birthday Honours List.

Marian Sudbury, Director, Global Operations – Investment Group, UKTI Marian’s role as Global Operations Director involves: ensuring people at the sharp end of talking to investors overseas have the support they need from the UK to be as effective as possible in client encounters and encouraging high potential entrepreneurs to locate and expand their businesses in the UK. Since September she has also picked up the local agenda within UKTI investment and is building a campaign and a team to increase positive outcomes from the relationship between Investment Group and the LEPs. A change management and communications professional, Marian has worked on behalf of major blue chip companies, charities and government, defining organisational direction and designing and delivering short and long-term commercial strategy using strong relationship building and team leadership skills. She was made a Board Director in 2001 for planning and then setting up the international division within a Greater Manchester research firm. Subsequently a Senior Vice President in a top 15 research firm she ran a business division providing research and advice to multinationals such as DuPont, Caterpillar, Mars and Oxfam. She then founded her own lifestyle business which worked for clients in locations ranging from Sakhalin to Birmingham Alabama. After two very successful years of trading, she experienced at a very personal level the impact of the banking crisis. Her career in advising FDI clients began in Istanbul, where she helped Eveready, Mercedes and Avon Cosmetics understand how to operate in the Turkish market. In the UK she has worked with major investors (e.g. JLR, RBS) on reinvestment, led the team that project manages new investments to the UK (on behalf of PA Consulting) and since January 2013 been seconded into UKTI to lead global operations. Marian won an open scholarship to Cambridge in 1982 and a Women in Management scholarship to Manchester Business School in 1995.

Andrew Walton, Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting Andrew Walton is a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Financial Services for the Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting. Acting as a senior counsellor to Governments, leading financial institutions and global corporations, he has extensive media relations experience in connection with many of the world's largest transactions and high profile situations. He joined in 2005 from Morgan Stanley in New York where he was Vice-President of corporate communications for that firm's global investment banking business, having previously held a similar role in London for the European business. He has also been active on both sides of the Atlantic in the areas of crisis and litigation communications. He is a graduate in law from Cambridge University.

James Wharton MP, Minister for Local Growth and the Northern Powerhouse James Wharton MP was first elected Conservative MP for Stockton South in 2010 and retained his seat in the 2015 General Election. He was appointed as Minister for Local Growth and the Northern Powerhouse at the Department for Communities and Local Government in May 2015. James sat on the Public Accounts Committee from July 2010 to November 2012. During the 2013-14 session, James introduced a Private Member’s Bill on the EU Referendum. He was elected to the Board of the Conservative Party in October 2014. On graduating with a law degree from Durham University, he completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York before training to be a solicitor with a regional firm, working in Newcastle, Durham and Darlington. The Minister is responsible for: Northern Powerhouse, supporting the Secretary of State on City Deals; European Regional Development Fund; Enterprise Zones & Local Enterprise Partnerships; Building Regulations; Climate Change & Sustainable buildings; Supporting Minister on the Devolution Bill; Planning Policy – Infrastructure & Environment and Planning Casework.

INVEST UK – PRESENTED BY IFB2016 25 NOVEMBER 2015 – LONDON Rudi Guraziu, Executive Chairman, IBDE Rudi Guraziu is Executive Chairman of IBDE (International Business and Diplomatic Exchange). He spent the 1990s as a principal of a large pharmaceutical business. Before founding IBDE, he initiated the establishment of the Centre for Business and Parliamentary Dialogue. For much of that time he has worked with different parliaments particularly in the relationship between legislative bodies and economic operators. For many years, Rudi has been actively engaged with senior policy-makers, business leaders and diplomats as an expert on international affairs, including as an external expert at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office high-level "policy challenge" sessions. His expertise covers trade & investment promotion, international affairs with a particular focus on EU affairs, public policy, financial services, energy security, and political risk, economic and commercial diplomacy. His research interests are in exploring the impact of international events and turning crises into opportunities. Rudi is a Visiting Professor at the London Academy of Diplomacy, University of Stirling, where he teaches international political economy and trade, international business and commercial diplomacy. Hi is member of the International Steering Board at the International Festival for Business 2016.
