We Are Dedicating this Whole Month to Fathers What is a Father? I sat and thought about this question for days. I looked up definitions and the break downs that I found were obvious, so I sat and reflected about my own father. I can honestly say that I’ve been blessed enough to have the type of father that has been there since birth. From the “Father/Daughter Date nights” to chaperoning field trips; the spankings/punishment/ arguments, and the many life les-
sons, my father has been the true definition of what a father really is. With me being a mother, my father has topped himself by being a wonderful grandfather to my daughter. I want to personally say thank you to my father and all fathers out there that take the role of father seriously and handles it not like a job but like a passion. WE, THE ICANDI FAMILY, love and appreciate the fathers. ~MsiCandi~
Anyone can be a DAD but it takes a real MAN to be a Father

I was raised by a super dad, Willie Mathis! He loved his children with everything in him! He made sure we had the best and ALWAYS gave his last! I LOVE MY FATHER! HE IS A PERFECT PICTURE OF WHAT A REAL MAN SHOULD BE! R.I.P. Daddy...
My daddy is not the man that got me here but for the last 30 years, i would not be where I’m at and I’m still not there if it wasn't for Jerome Tuggle he has shown me a lot took me a lot of places and tossed and turned worrying about me and spent a looootttt of $$$ on me bills fun and just because he has been a great force in my life thank you god for the daddy's that didn't get us here but step up to the plate and hits home runs #loveyoudaddy

“Facebook Drama” Dear iCandi, I think this Facebook trend has gotten out of control. People are constantly posting crazy, ridiculous pictures, exposing their personal business, and ending relationships. I just recently broke up with my boyfriend because he’s was tripping over my Facebook friends commenting on my statuses. He was suspect me of cheating with them, demand my password to see if I was having conversations through the inbox. My cousin just ended her marriage over some Facebook drama. I’m really at the point when I’m thinking of deleting my facebook account all together. My question is, what do you think about social website like Facebook? Do you think they are more trouble then they are worth?
~Jennifer K~
Gurrrrrrl Facebook is the devil!! Lol! I think people take Facebook too seriously. If they are gonna let something as juvenile as “Facebook” ruin their relationship, they wouldn’t be able to survive the REAL test that will come. For me Facebook has been a great networking and marketing tool and I refuse to leave this free form of publicity! lol ~MsiCandi~
“No Homo” Dear iCandi I’ve been dating this new guy for almost a month now. We haven’t had sex yet but we have talked about it. He’s always talking about anal sex and how much he loves it. My “gaydar” instantly goes up. What do you guys think about men that enjoy having anal sex. Do you think they could be suspect? Keda Lee
HOT MESS OF THE MONTH
Hey Keda, Studies show that the male g spot is located in his anus...so imagine having the one place that can make you go crazy located in a fucked up place...lol I think having sex with men makes you gay, having relations with men makes you gay. But a man knowing his body and what he likes doesnt.. I mean its anatomy and what he likes...some men don't play that going in his butt so they will never know cuz they don't want to know..but as long as u are doing it he won't have to look for anyone else to do...like a gay man who wouldn't care and do it happily... ~Go2Gurl~ Ahhhhhh HELL NAH!! Ok I usually don’t cut in on “Dear iCandi’s” but I feel like Go2Gurl’s answer is off! I was thinking you meant your man likes to have anal sex with women (as in, he does the poking) but Go2Gurl answered as if he’s asking you to put on a strap on and do him and if that’s the case my gaydar is SCREAMING “GAY GAY GAY”! I actually googled the whole g-spot on a man thing and it DOES say that it’s back there very close to the scrotum and that may be true but I have witnessed men have an orgasm from hitting the vaginal area so that anal ish is them just taking sex too far. If my man asked me to “poke him” in the booty, that would be the end of our relationship and I would introduce him to a few of my gay male friends
POINT BLANK PERIOD ~MsiCandi~

“Future Mothers of America” We Are Doomed! I’m giving her 5 tickets and putting her in the iCandi dungeon (with Bear) until she delivers that baby!! This doesn’t make any sense at all! Ugh!
Not Every Man Is A Deadbeat We often see or hear a lot of male bashing when it comes to fatherhood. Whether it’s our friends or family, television, or social sites, we see it every day. I was honestly starting to think that stand up men and real fathers were nonexistent amongst my own generation. It wasn’t until I started doing iCandi Radio that I came in contact with LOTS of true fathers. So don’t worry ladies! They still exist. It’s time we start honoring the ones that are being great fathers and paying less attention to the ones that aren’t. A few of our supporters wanted to show some love to their “Super Dads”. ~MsiCandi~
I HAVE A SUPERDAD IM SO GROWN NOW AND THAT MAN STILL HAVE MY BACK EVEN THOUGH MY PARENTS GOT A DIVORCE (many years ago ) HE STILL BROUGHT US A HOUSE AND LET MY MOM STAY THERE BECAUSE HE KNEW IT WOULD HURT US NOT HAVING HER AROUND. NOW THATS SUPER I CAN GO OWN FOREVER TALKN ABOUT HIM I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HE WAS ALSO A FATHER FIGURE FOR ALOT OF OTHER KIDS AROUND US SHOUT OUT TO MY SUPERDAD!! HENRY JONES JR Reneisha Jones
My father is a super dad he has 12 of his own children and with me not being his biological, he has raised me since i was 11 months. he worked with my real father who i meant when i was 30 and only seen him twice. My dad introduced me to my biological uncle which introduced me to my real father. My step father adopted me and spoiled me like i was his own and when he speaks he says this is my baby girl and I thank God for her being in my life. Even when my mom passed never acted any different and they were married up until the day she passed. He promised her he would look over me but i look over him because no else does. HE IS MY ROCK AND HE TOOK ME EVERYWHERE WITH HIM AS A LIL GIRL WHILE MY MOM WORKED, HE BABY SAT SO NO ONE ELSE HAD TO WATCH ME. INDEPENDENT AND STUBBORN BUT THAT IS MY DAD, HOWARD E. FISHER. LOVE HIM TO DEATH!! Crystal Suggs
My father... if I could describe him in 1 word, it would be "strength". He was not my biological father but has raised me since he and my mom met when I was only 2 years old. I often think of how different my life would have been if he wasn't man enough to stay and love me. It is because of him that I know what a man's love is. My father exhibited his strength last year when he wa diagnosed with liver cancer/cirrhosis. As he began to lose weight & strength, he stayed mentally strong. People would see him & cry on sight. He'd just laugh & say, "So what you trying say? You think I'm ugly?" Or he'd say, "Nope, your tears are no good here, only your smiles!" I did not know at the time that the doctors were telling him he'd only live 2 months, at best. He never told me. He told me the treatments were making him better. Still trying to protect his little girl. What a beautiful deception. & no matter how sick he was from the chemo, he gave me a beaming smile every time he saw me. We lost him June 30, 2010. I miss him everyday. Dad left me his legacy of strength. Some days I want to stay in the bed all day & cry but I know he'd want me to be strong. I try to imitate his strength. I hope to have a father for my future children that is even half the man he was. Daddy, thank you for the best 33 years of my life. Super Dad: Charlie L. Stewart (October 6, 1950- June 30, 2010) 3Tiffany Kelley
MU S I C RE V I E W S w i t h J . a nto i nne Jill Scott - The Light Of The Sun Blues Babe Records - 2011 (June 21st)
This highly-anticipated album from “Jilly From Philly” (as she is affectionately called by her fans) should not disappoint. Jill doesn’t stray far from her neo-soul vibe while still encompassing music from past, present and future eras, all while adeptly sounding as if the recording of this album took one session (stray background noise included). Brilliant. The first single “Shame” borrows elements of the 70s, with awesome backgrounds from the A group. “So In Love” features a nice cameo from Anthony Hamilton and makes you bop your head. “Making You Wait” has an awesome baseline and “So Gone (What My Mind Says) is infectious.
Anthony Harrell - Kathy
Mya - K.I.S.S (Keep It Sexy & Simple)
Online MP3 Abum - 2011
Manhattan Records - 2011
Anthony comes to you as the former lead singer of the group Brutha.. Here, Anthony shows off his range and vocal stylings in a way that he didn’t alongside his brothers. Most of this album is pretty mainstream, but does include some standout cuts that are worth a few listens. “Don’t Make Me Say Goodbye” is reminiscent of old-school D’Angelo, “That Means I’m Thinking of You” has some realistic lyrics, and “Say Hello” has a nice beat and good vocals, but it’s the Stevie Wonder remake of “As” that really shines on this album, where Anthony sounds like a mix of Stevie and Michael Jackson. Good stuff. (4 Stars)(B+)
This album was only released overseas, but is available for download online. Mya has never been a powerhouse vocalist, but she’s always been consistent in releasing good music (“Case of the Ex”, “My Love Is Like Wo”, “Fallen”). Here, she has a good balance of club-ready uptempo cuts like “Mess Up My Hair”, “Alive”, and the title track, and some pretty decent ballads, especially the syrupy “Mr. Incredible” and the wistful “Love Comes Love Goes”, and the catchy “Sorry”. Too bad that she won’t release this album stateside because it’s actually not that bad. (4 Stars)(B+)
(5 Stars)(A+) Musiq Soulchild - MUSIQINTHEMAGIC Atlantic/WEA Records - 2011
**DON’T MISS THIS**
Musiq Soulchild hasn’t ever really been the biggest mainstream artists, but that’s not a discredit to him, because he should be. If he’s been nothing else over six albums, he has been consistent. He consistently delivers good music and CDs that you can play all the way through, and this one is no exception. “Single” has that groove that you can easily vibe to, “Anything” makes you want to get up and dance, and “Backtowhere” makes you want to sing along. The slower songs work just as well, with “Befriends” laying the groundwork for some “sessions”, and “Medicine” really using its lyrical content to its musical advantage. This man is definitely a child of soul. (5 Stars)(A+)
iCandi After Dark Presents The Ultimate Sex Mixtape Hosted By MsiCandi & DJ Pyra-C This ain’t your mother’s mixtape that you can play at the family barbecue! This is mood music, and if you don’t know what that means, then you probably should ask someone. This album has all the songs that you know and some you might not, that keeps up with the iCandi theme of keeping it “Grown and Sexy.” DJ Pyra-C mixes the songs well and they all have an even flow, from old-school to new-school...you will NOT be disappointed!

“Man Candi” of the Month “Tight Jones”
GRAPHIC DESIGNER/MUSIC PRODUCER/MUSIC ENGINEER AND MOST OF ALL PROUD FATHER MsiCandi: I must first give the Go2Gurl credit for getting me hip to you Tight. I can NOT take full credit for selecting this monthʼs “Man Candi”. She actually showed me pictures of you and your daughter a month ago, and to us there is nothing sexier than a man being a father. So I want to commend you on being not just a father, but a proud father.
MsiCandi: Whatʼs one life lesson that you would want her to know? Tight: Good question! I would say making the right choices and thatʼs easier said than done. Sheʼs gonna make mistakes but Iʼll be right there every step like I should be.
Tight: Thank you! Iʼm very honored! MsiCandi: Before I go in on the babies (because I know how us parents love to show off our babies), letʼs talk about Tight the business man. Graphics & Music! Two very different, yet challenging fields. How are you able to balance it all?
“
Tight: Wow! Where should I start!!? (laughs) It can be difficult at times because both require lots of time. Iʼm something like a perfectionist in a race to build my brand with high expectations. I only take on what I can handle. I design one day and do music the other. Thatʼs pretty much the layout. MsiCandi: Being that music is something you are passionate about, when were you first introduced to music? Tight: Iʼm from Dayton, OH, but when I first moved to Cincinnati is when it all started; 1996, Master P! (laughs) I bought a karaoke machine and thatʼs all she wrote. MsiCandi: Where do the beats come from? How are you able to come up with different sounds? Tight:I would say itʼs a God-given talent. I feel like when I do music Iʼm limitless and I just love it! I'm blessed!
MsiCandi: Thank you so much Tight for being who you are and a great example to young men about what life is truly all about. Be sure to stay connected to us at iCandi Productions. Now before I let you go, I canʼt let you off the hook without putting you on the “iCandi hot seat”. I hope you are ready... Tight: Give me what you got!!! (laughs) #1 How many tattoos do you have? Ha! Thatʼs for me to know and the ladies to find out. (laughs) But sheeesh I canʼt count them. Itʼs too many. (laughs) #2 Single or Taken? And what type of woman can gain Tightʼs interest? Single for the moment :( but I love a pretty woman with a nice smile, a great personality...oh, and a nice backside... (laughs) #3 What is your daily motivation? Lay Lay (my daughter). Plus my own goals, but her needs are always first. #4 Finish the sentence “I donʼt understand...
MsiCandi: Okay, now letʼs talk fatherhood! I know you have a daughter. What did it feel like the day she was born?
Why Iʼm a sucker for a womanʼs pretty smile. :-) #5 Do you want more children?
Tight: Wow...that day was September 25, 2001! I was working and I got the call the water had broke. I told my manager it was time and I had to leave; he said I couldnʼt, and I walked out! (laughs) I arrived at the hospital a little late so I wasnʼt able to watch the actual birth, but when she came out, I followed her to the cleaning area. I let her hold my finger until they told me that I had to leave. I pulled my finger away and she started crying so they told me to stay. (Laughs) I wouldnʼt ever take it back. MsiCandi: As the father of a girl are you afraid of her dating? If so Why?
7
Tight: H*ll Yeah!! (Laughs) This generation of boys today are sooo crazy. Iʼm not saying all of ʻem, but a lot! Plus, all of these DISEASES!!! Sheesh! Thereʼs too many things going on.
Yes. I would love a son but Iʼd take a healthy kid overall #6 What is your guilty pleasure “chick flick”? Wow; Iʼm super sensitive. Anybody that knows me knows that I donʼt take crap from anybody and I speak my mind but movies like P.S. I Love You just do something to me. (laughs)

Father’s Day Gift Ideas By: Lady Red
Father’s Day is this month, so this piece is about men’s fashion and what’s hot for a Father’s Day gift. Let’s start with young men, which will probably like some 501 Levi jeans or 505 Levi jeans. These jeans can be paired with a polo or a t-shirt. The more mature gentleman would probably like a jogging suite or golfing equipment. Men are simple; they don't ask for much or require much. If they are the gadget type, then go for an iPad, iPod, or possibly a new smart phone. If you have a grilling man then go for grilling utensils or a really nice grill. Happy shopping and remember: Men only get spoiled a few times year compared to us women who get spoiled every day. I hope this made your gift decision a little easier.

The Conscious Corner “Good Black Men Still Exist”
In the year 2011 we still hear there are no good black men out here. I’m here to let you know that is not true. There are still good brothers out here looking for that special sister to call their Queen. Good Black Men are indeed all around us. We pass them on the streets, in the malls, and the halls at work. Most we can’t see because we don’t know what a good man really looks like. He usually isn’t flashy enough or rich enough to turn our heads. He might not wear a suit or push a Lexus. He might not have a body like Tyson with a Denzel face. But, as you mature, you realize it’s better to find someone who’s got your back rather than someone who turns your head. A good man doesn’t agree wholeheartedly with everything you say. He doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear and do the opposite. He doesn’t declare how sensitive, sweet, caring, sincere, etc. he is (he won’t have to because it shows). He has his own opinions and yours may clash, but he doesn’t have to degrade you to prove he’s right. He even admits at times to being wrong, especially if you are willing to do the same. A good man is not going to meet every item on your checklist. He is human with frailties and faults mixed in with all of his wonderful, strong attributes. He needs your love 9 and respect. He needs to feel
that you don’t live to catch him doing something wrong so you can declare, “Aha! I knew you were a dog!” A good man isn’t insecure about his woman having great achievements. In fact, he is her number one supporter and becomes disappointed with her when she begins to lose herself, especially for the sake of not hurting his feelings, or only wanting to make him happy. His happiness comes with seeing her excel in her dreams and accomplishing her goals, for as she excels and is exalted, a good woman will bring her good man right along with her. A good man doesn’t necessarily give you a huge birthday or Valentine’s Day gift. He shows his love in the ways that are comfortable to him. Don’t judge him by TV standards. No one is really living a fairy tale. You’ll miss out on your own fairy tale by buying into the myth that our men are no good. It’s just not true. A good black man is a man of his word. He says what he means and means what he says. His word is his bond. He never leaves you wondering if he is going to call or show up; he is dependable. A good black man has a love and a heart for God. As his relationship and love with and for God grows, so will his relationship and love with and for you. So to all black men I salute you, appreciate
you and thank you for who you are and all you’ve done, especially our ancestors that laid a great foundation. Pass this along to some of the Good Black Men you know and a few women that need to read it … so that they can recognize a good black man. PEACE & BLESSINGS. $$ Bucks with Bux $$ People are always trying to cut corners, and eating out vs. eating at home is always a major issue. Cutting down the amount of time that you go out for meals doesn’t always have to seem bad. Studies show that you can save up to $2,000 a year alone just by eating at home. That said, always eating at home isn’t very realistic and if you really want to go out (like me) always think of these great suggestions. Most restaurants offer some type of “two for” deal. This is a great deal because you get the appetizer, entrée and dessert. Some people eat appetizers as their entrée, as some appetizers are large enough to be considered a meal. Also, check your local papers for coupons to your local restaurants. Happy Eating
Not only can cooking at home save you money but it can also be a fun “family time” activity and it also can be great for date night. I searched though some of our Facebook supporters and I noticed several Facebook chefs that know how to get down in the kitchen. Check them out! ~MsiCandi~

Shout out to the REAL MEN in my life, my Dad Anthony Dean Sr and my Loving Hubby Mayo Woody for being SuperDads... Who can ask for better MEN... What man you know, takes in children and treat and raise them like their own... Love you both for being in my life... Kiara Woody
Top 5 Songs Dedicated to Super Dads #5 Winds Beneath My Wings - Eddie & Gerald Levert This song has a few different renditions by several artists, but this father-son version by the Leverts really touched me. Eddie Levert and his son, the late Gerald Levert, are two SANGERS (not singers but sangers) and it’s very refreshing to hear them sing a song with so much passion.
My "daddykins" Melvin Williams takes pride in being a father. He would give his last and go without if that meant his children were taken care of... He has my back; and I appreciate him. He is definitely a superdad and I love him... :-) Meghan “Bux” Williams
#4 A Woman’s Hands - Trey Songz I actually had to get hip to this song from the Go2Gurl (she loves to get her props). In this Song Trey is saying that although a mother’s love is very much needed and appreciated, a boy needs his father as well to become a man. I think this a powerful yet true statement. Women can only do so much, but children need their fathers as well.
I lost the best dad in the world October twenty third two thousand and eigth. That's the best have evet lost in life.He was the best dad in the world, and I always dreams he's here on earth & am sure am going to see him on the day of reckoning! Shout out to my Dad
#3 Daddy- Beyonce I love this song! This song is a “Daddy’s Girl” letter to her dad. Being that I am a 100% daddy’s girl I understand the true meaning of this song. There is a special bond between a father and his little princess. This song makes me cry. Shout out to my daddy! I love you!
#2 Just The Two Of Us - Will Smith Whenever I hear this song it puts me in a feel good mood and takes me back to the 90’s. I love the way Will talks about the emotions of becoming a father. This is a very cute song and it reminds me of my brother and men like Brotha Insight and the love they have for their sons. I say it all the time; a man loving their child(ren) is a SEXY thing.
My father who has been married to my mother for 35+ years has ALWAYS been there for me thru thick and thin been agreat example of what a REAL man should be. My hubby has to be as good of a man as him...nuthn less! Jessica Cornist
#1 Dance with My Father - Luther Vandross The late Luther Vandross & my uncle (in my mind) has the number one father song. The lyrics are so REAL! Have you guys ever just sat back and listened? You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and just have a lot of flashback moments. A really big message that this song brings is to cherish you fathers while you have them. Tomorrow is not promised and great fathers are hard to come by so if you have one., love your daddy while you have time with him. R.I.P. to my PawPaw Rev. William Marshall King Jr.
My Dad Is THE SUPER DAD.... Was ALWAYS there for me and still is and Im 42.....He is THE BEST DAD EVER!!!! Jackie Evans By MsiCandi

“IMPORTANCE OF DAD”
written by Lateefah Ragland Two people come together in the midst of passion, and one sperm meets up with one egg to create a life all its own. Since it takes two individuals, both male and female, a mother and father to create a baby, it is absolutely imperative to have two individuals to raise a baby. In my experience as a single Mother of four children with different Dads, I have discovered that the influence or lack of influence really plays a part in the child’s development. I have two children that don’t have involvement with their Dads and two children that do. The conclusion that I have come up with is this; children who don’t have a Dad in their life will try to find ways to fill the void, act out in ways that we don’t understand, and struggle with trying to find their own identity. In the African American community I find that our sons run to the streets and hip hop to look for father figures when they don’t have a Dad. I have a teen son that is very intelligent and an honor roll student who tries to fit in with his peers as opposed to standing out as an exceptional student. He loves Lil’ Wayne and Drake and wants to be a rapper, but is gifted in public speaking. His Dad has reached out to him and said that he can call him and see him whenever he likes, but my son feels as though his Dad should communicate with him since he missed out on his life. I have an eight year old who is an honor roll student as well. I believe he has given up on his Dad but still holds a glimmer of hope and communicates with his Dad; he just needs convincing at times. I’ve endured watching him cry silently to himself about the absence of his Dad, and I watch as he builds up walls because of it. Another phenomenon I notice within our community from my own experiences is that our daughters that don’t have dads in their lives grow up and look for attention from the opposite sex that may not necessarily be beneficial to their lives. They seek out the wrong kinds of men because they didn’t have that first boyfriend: their Dad. I had a Dad in my life and I knew who he was. I saw him on holidays and my mother and I moved back in with him for four years of my teen life, but it wasn’t enough. My sister’s relationship with our Dad was different. She lived with him until she was eighteen and our parents were married during her childhood. They were divorced when I was two and my sister chose to stay with him; I left with mom. Therefore, the relationship I had with my Dad was different. I didn’t have a bond with him. In my adulthood I’ve dealt with men that were only interested in having sex with no relationship and if they were interested in a relationship they were cheaters. My sister on the other hand has been married twice and has a very successful second marriage and her overall life is more stable than mine. With my daughters I notice that they are very close to their Dads and have great relationships with them. My oldest daughter’s Dad says that he wants our daughter to be so spoiled that no man will ever be good enough for her, and you know what? I believe he’s right. I think our child is going to grow up to be a high maintenance diva that will only settle for the best, because she learned that from him. My youngest daughter doesn’t see her Dad as often, but she’s three and I believe he will work on being more consistent in the future. From the moment that egg is fertilized two people become responsible for the life that they create. At that very moment the contract is signed. When one party abandons ship and the other party is left to pick up the pieces, there is still a void. If that void was made by the father only he can fill it. Men if you have a child and you’re not a part of his or her life, you still have an effect on that child. You are creating a less-than-polished reflection of yourself. That child develops your characteristics, maybe even some of your character flaws, and if you are not there to shape and mold them, they could become a weapon that could end up backfiring on you. Men, if you don’t have children, it doesn’t hurt to become another child’s father figure. It takes a whole village to raise a child. If you are holding it down and taking care of your children, and you’re a father 365 days of the year and not just on holidays, then we at iCandi celebrate you. Know that what you are doing does not go unappreciated, and you do make a difference. You set the tone for your children and that is infectious. You do right by them and they do right by their children.
