PG 9: THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION

I want to thank you for setting a good example for the community during the holidays. I know many of you, like myself, opted out of your traditional holiday plans of gathering with your extended family or volunteering. I would like to personally thank you for your commitment to keeping our colleagues, patients, and community safe. We are hopeful the community followed your example, as many of them value your expertise now more than ever. In the event that we do experience a COVID-19 surge following the holiday gatherings, please know our leadership team has been working diligently to ensure we are prepared. We are also preparing for the new phase of the pandemic, where new medications and vaccines are becoming available. RMC is a primary site to distribute these lifesaving medications, and we look forward to the promise and hope these medications will bring to our employees, patients, and communities. 2020 is certainly a year to remember, and my hope for each of you is that the good outweighed the bad, joy outweighed sorrow, and hope outweighs despair as we move together into the New Year. Happy Holidays to you and your family, from your Research Family. Warm regards,

3 Keeping our Community Safe and Educated During the Pandemic On a recent edition of House Call, Dr. David McKinsey, an Infectious Disease Physician at Research Medical Center, shared considerations for gathering safely during the holiday season. He also briefly discussed how to identify differences between COVID-19 symptoms and flu symptoms. To view the full House Call, visit Facebook.com/ ResearchMedicalCenter.

Care Like Family Receives National Recognition When COVID-19 hit New Orleans in March, HCA Healthcare nurses from Kansas City heroically raised their hands to join their fellow colleagues on the frontlines at sister hospital Tulane Medical Center in Louisiana. Recently – in a true Care Like Family moment – Tulane Medical Center nurses traveled to Research Medical Center to return the favor as the virus resurges in the region. COVID-19 Remembrance Ceremony In honor and support of our Healthcare Heroes and in memory of lives lost, RMC hosted a COVID-19 Remembrance Ceremony on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. During the ceremony, Healthcare Heroes placed poinsettias in honor of patients who lost the fight with COVID-19. Thank you to our healthcare heroes for your dedication to serving our community.

This is how a pandemic ends.

Hope is on the horizon. A COVID-19 vaccine is coming. While the vaccine is voluntary, it’s our first step toward ending this global fight. By working together, we hope to soon return to gathering with friends and loved ones, dining out and shopping, being part of a roaring crowd. Help us beat the virus. Watch for more information about how and where to receive the vaccine.

Nothing warms up winter like a HOT BONUS.

Refer a full-time employee and share up to

$20,000.

How about a new bonus for the new year? By referring your friends and family to HCA Midwest Health, you and your referral could earn $20,000 (that’s $10,000 each.) If your referral applies and starts work between November 1, 2020 and April 1, 2021, you and your referral will earn a toasty winter bonus. In fact, you can refer as many candidates as you like, and you’ll earn a bonus for each one hired. All your referral has to do is list your name on the job application. Simple, right? But hurry, this offer is only for a limited time.

Start warming up your list of names. Make a referral today!

Keeping our friends healthy and reducing the spread of COVID-19 is important to us. So, for the first time since 1986, The Research Foundation’s 2020 Candlelight Ball scheduled for November 7, 2020 was cancelled. The current pandemic has caused the foundation’s fundraising efforts to suffer. But the individuals served through their programs still need your support. Join Research Medical Center physician groups, businesses and individuals as a Candlelight Circle Supporter.
