Dear Research Family It is such an honor to be selected as the Chief Executive Officer of Research Medical Center’s four campuses and follow Jackie DeSouza - Van Blaricum as the leader here. She helped develop excellent leaders, and I know we can draw upon our solid foundation to move to even greater heights. Research Medical Center is a phenomenal organization, with rich history in the Kansas City community. Our expertise, acuity, and reputation draws patients from all over the region and we are the quaternary hospital for HCA Midwest Health. Our physicians are highly engaged, our financials have consistently improved, and I sense our commitment is steadfast. What a dream hospital for any Senior Leader to be a part of. I recognize how blessed I am to be joining your team, and I embrace the weight and responsibility that comes with the opportunity to serve and lead you. I will work tirelessly to build trusting relationships with all stakeholders: employees, physicians, and community leaders to demonstrate my commitment to serving the mission of Research and HCA. My strength is building a culture that leads to empirical outcomes. I look forward to meeting the entire Research family. Kansas City is my hometown and I’m thrilled to be back where I grew up. As some history, it was 13 years ago that I began my HCA Healthcare career as an Associate Chief Operating Officer at Overland Park Regional Medical Center after going to college in Texas. You may notice I have a southern accent because I’ve been a Texan the past 11 years serving as CEO of two different HCA hospitals. My family and I are thrilled to be back in Kansas City! It is my honor to join the Research Family! Sincerely,

Above All Else, We Are Committed to the Care and Improvement of Human Life Giving each patient and their family the best patient experience is a top priority at every Research entity. This means every patient, every time and every touch. Always. Not Sometimes, Not Usually. Always. When patients take the time to let us know they had a great experience, we’ll share.

All Staff “I was at Research Medical Center when I was in Fourth Grade visiting my Grandparents. More than 50 years later, they still have a very special staff. Sounds like your good work is still going on today. Thanks for everything.” “Everyone at Research Medical Center was very concerned and helpful. I felt very comfortable around everyone from outpatient and inpatient. I needed to stay and they were very helpful in transitioning me. The doctors and nurses were great.” “From caregivers to therapy and medical staff, could not be happier with my stay at Research. Great attention to detail in their rehab facility. Quality food service with good variety. Highly recommended, absolutely no complaints.” Labor and Delivery “I was transferred to Research Medical Center and had an emergency C-section. I spent two weeks in labor and delivery. The nurses were wonderful! Those NICU nurses have a special place in my heart. The situation was not an easy one, but the staff there made me feel like I was with friends and family.” Research Orthopedics and Sports Medicine/6th Floor ‘‘I had a total knee replacement at Research Medical Center. This is the best hospital I have been to from the care I got to getting prepped for surgery till the time I went home. The nurses on the 6 floor thank you very much. I have recommended this hospital and Drs to several people.”

Healthy Habits Superfood Spotlight: Stone Fruit Nothing says summer like the superfood for the month of July, stone fruit! Peaches, cherries, plums, nectarines, apricots and mangos are classified as stone fruit due to the stone-like covering on the single large seed at their core. The “stone” supports the fruit as it hangs from the tree branch by its stem and provides a passage for nutrients to flow from the tree to the growing fruit. Stone fruits are rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, antioxidants and are a good source of fiber. These meaty fruits are versatile and tasty when prepared by drying, grilling, freezing or canning.
