Dear Research Family HCA Healthcare celebrated 50 years in 2018. This year and this year we are launching a new brand. HCA Healthcare at the national, enterprise level has converted to this new logo. Our local HCA Midwest Health division will launch a brand change process later this year that will take at least a year to implement. I’m sharing this new logo so it is familiar, and so you know we are still all one family! March Madness Fun is happening at Research. Your department can participate and win prizes! Check out the information on pg. 8. Research has two new tele-neurology partners – Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton now have 24 x 7 tele-coverage in their ER by our boardcertified neurologists. We can quickly assess patients having stroke symptoms. Sometimes patients can stay at the local hospital but when more specialized care is needed, a patient is transferred. ER of Brookside seeing more patients, and is reaching out in the community about our capabilities to care for Kids and Adults. We are sponsoring the Brookside Art Fair again this year with a Kids Tent and Teddy Bear Clinic, May 4 – 6. You can make plans now to bring the whole family! Sincerely,

After a normal day at work Eric felt nauseous, and it wasn’t like the stomach flu. He knew it was “different” so Myra called 9-1-1. Paramedic/EMT team quickly got Eric on the road to Research Medical Center, but on the way his heart completely stopped. First responders immediately started CPR with defibrillation and delivered Eric to the care of ER Physician Dr. Tucker Lienhop and Cardiologist Dr. Brian Friedman. Teams of professionals delivered lifesaving care and within days Eric was going home. Here he is with Myra, his wife of 27 years. Together they have raised five kids and have eight grand kids. Above All Else, We Are Committed to the Care and Improvement of Human Life Giving each patient and their family the best patient experience is a top priority at every Research entity. This means every patient, every time and every touch. Always. Not Sometimes, Not Usually. Always. When patients take the time to let us know they had a great experience, we’ll share.
Surgery “All the nurses were great! Very happy with the care I received on the day of my surgery” Research Psychiatric Center “Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I couldn’t ask for anything better.” Sarah Cannon Cancer Center ‘‘The level of care at RMC is great. I always feel that I’ll get the best medical answers from people who really care about my health. Dr. Singh and the team at the Sarah Cannon Cancer center are my heroes.” Imaging “My experience at Research Hospital was like nothing I’ve seen. I have had lung and orthopedic X-rays, mammograms, and a calcium scoring test done at Research Medical Center Brookside Campus, some of them annually for least ten years. I don’t give top marks easily but have no hesitation in this case. The staff is respectful, professional, friendly. Services have been excellent. I highly recommend this provider!”
All Staff “The nurses are so efficient, caring and communicative with the patients. The doctors were the same. My husband was at Research two times and we left both times grateful that he had been sent to Research Medical Center.” “Excellent attention to ‘out patient’ needs. Excellent customer service.”

Healthy Habits Superfood Spotlight: Whole Grains The Superfood of the Month is whole grains. Whole grains are unrefined cereal grains that contain the germ, endosperm, and bran. Whole grains contain more fiber, iron, and B vitamins then refined grains and have been linked to lower risk of diabetes and heart disease. Adding a variety of whole grains from sources such as wheat, brown rice, oats, quinoa, and farro can also support healthy weight maintenance. This month the Dietitians are celebrating National Nutrition Month! Stop by the cafeteria at Research Medical Center on Wednesdays this month to learn more about whole grains, healthy eating habits, and to meet the Dietitians!
