What prompted you to write the book?
My goal has always been to help people who have struggled and share my experiences. I started writing for Women’s Voice Magazine in 2012. I was selected as a top 20 columnist in 2014 and earned a syndication with BizCatalyst360 and published in 147 countries. I want people to know you can change the hard times and always improve their situation. I give people encouragement, hope and great ideas!
What was the hardest time of your life?
When my husband left me with a 6 month old baby and only gave me $50.00 a week. I never had food for myself. I never told my family because I was too ashamed of my situation. It’s the hardest chapter in the book but the most comments I get from so many who had to deal with the same issue and wished they had done what I did to become self-sufficient and successful in business. What is your favorite quote, mantra, or motto and why?
If you knock on the door and it does not open, knock on it louder in a different way. Be the catalyst to the change you seek. Why? If I waited for opportunities to come to me I would never be where I am today. Its determination and grit that has gotten me where I am today.
What is your career now and how did you get to where you are today?
I am a Senior Vice President of a bank. I am considered an expert in my field Literally started off in business as a file clerk and have moved up in every company I have worked. Each time I moved to another company, my income increased and so did my title. I didn’t settle for a lower position. I believed in myself and knew I could do better. I set a goal and reached it every time. Nothing was easy but I kept my goal in sight. If I can do it, anyone can!

Here, Hold My Wine!: Robins Practical and Impractical Guide to Life: Vintage 2019
OK, so you're checking out this book and you're wondering if it’s any good. Well, I can tell you this much, if you ever find anyone who has been through as many things as I have and is still left standing, then you know I’m someone who can’t be stopped. I have had many people come to me and ask me how I became so successful in life. Well, I believe, it’s ‘the thought process' that got me to where I am today. Nothing stops me from achieving my dreams. So now you are thinking, “is this is going to be one of those boring ‘self-help’ books that everyone writes?!” Well, you are wrong, my friend. When you read my original stories, or should we call them, ‘real life drama,’ the ‘things’ that happen to me are almost unbelievable experiences anyone could have, and with such bad luck. Bad luck…is there such a ‘thing?’ You know what they say about karma. I guess I have really pissed off someone along the way. So, should I tell you early on the crazy things that happen to me? Nah…I want you to read the book, so there you have it. But, I have always taken the ‘bull-bythe-horns,’ so to speak, and changed the direction in my life by having a certain ‘thought’ process. By sharing my stories of life’s ups and downs, I will hopefully give you a guide to my overall thought process, how I tackled each and every obstacle, and the decisions I made to keep moving forward in the direction I wanted. Hopefully, you can apply the way I approached challenges to make your life better. Cheers!

Robin’s hometown is a very small Virginia town. Once quiet and shy, she came out of her shell to join the cheerleading squad during her high school days. Dancing also became a big part of Robin’s life as she took ballet, tap, baton, modern and jazz dancing for 14 years.
During her educational years, Robin worked a few small jobs and then decided if she was going to make anything of herself, she needed to move to the big city. In Richmond, Virginia, she started her career as an Accounting Clerk with a stock brokerage firm.
A year later, Robin interviewed with Reynolds Metals Company. Her 21 plus years at Reynolds afforded her the knowledge she still uses today within the Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Travel areas of the company.
Robin earned her BBA and MBA from Averett University’s accelerated program and has worked in the Commercial Card Industry for JPMorgan Chase, American Express, Suntrust Bank (Now Truist), MUFG Union Bank and currently Texas Capital Bank.
Robin still writes for BizCatalyst360 and published in 147 countries. Her book, Here Hold My Wine, has been a favorite of those who follow her writing. .
