Let go of the control you never had. I was in a conversation with a woman much older than myself, when I first heard those words. I found myself grabbing a notebook and pen and writing down everything she said. She was inquiring about how my mother was doing and how I was holding up as a caregiver. She said, “I learned a long time ago, to let go of the control I never had. What’s the worst that will happen?”

We spend all our lives trying to control every aspect and every outcome. When in reality, we can’t control how things will turn out. So you do the best you can and go along with the process whatever it may be. I have found that by letting go of control, things happen as they will and in many cases to my benefit.

A person reaches a new level of maturity when they realize this and life becomes less stressful. For example, when people react in a negative way, they are responsible for their own reactions. You can apologize, but that person will choose whether or not they want to accept it. If they don’t accept it, you have to move on.

There are also times when you have to hand off the baton. Before we could finish this publication, I became very ill. I was supposed to be on the cover but my mini me, Nikki Gal, stepped in and said, “We are all in this together.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Let’s learn to work together, stop being hard on each other and on ourselves and press on to a new level of maturity.

Wishing everyone good health, peace, and many blessings.

My Favorite Quote

“Love yourself enough to set boundaries. Your time and energy are precious. You get to choose how you use it.” - Anna Taylor

You are in charge of your life. Don’t let anyone or anything for that matter, waste your time and not give you the respect you deserve. Your time is the one thing you cannot get back.
