Growing up in Canada, and at the age of sixteen, her performance on a Canadian television show caught the eye of none other than Celine Dion. The world-renowned diva went on to ask Karine to perform at her wedding.

“That was really the start,” she recalls. “It was such an incredible moment, and I was driven to pursue this endlessly to fulfill my dreams as a world-class singer.”

Karine relocated to New York City. Within weeks of moving to the Big Apple, she linked up with none other than Jim Steinman (Meat Loaf, “Bat Out Of Hell”) and began collaborating with him. For the next few years, nearly every major label courted her, but she didn’t find a home until Cash Money Records/Republic Records/ Universal music co-founders Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Baby” Williams heard a recording from her in their lawyer’s office and signed her. She is their one and only signed artist that is a pop artist.

“It happened at a time when I least expected it,” the songstress continues. “I’d been working so hard for so long, and then Cash Money came into the picture.”

Their partnership kicked off with Karine’s incendiary debut single “Burning Up”, co-written and produced by Josh Harris. Climbing the Billboard charts and making it all the way to number five.

That’s only a prelude to what followed. Her next single co-written by Michael Jay called “Victory” which landed in the top 10 on the Billboard charts.

Karine nods her vocal influences to legends such as Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Holiday, and as well as French and European artists she heard on the radio as a child. As a result, she’s got something completely her own and electrifying. “I grew up with 4 sides of music...French, Canadian, American, and Euro,” she says. “I want to embrace all of that in my own music.”

Ultimately, Karine stands poised to capture the world’s attention with her voice. “I want people to feel something massive in their soul after listening to me interpret a song, whether it’s an original or a cover tune,”I sing from the soul, and I hope it reaches listeners.”

To kick off 2022, Karine signed a new management deal with Heart Songs Music Group.

Warrior Women Empowering Women to Create their Own Vision Hazel Williams

It's time for women to start taking care of themselves both physically and mentally. Too often, we put everyone else's needs before our own and end up feeling exhausted and stressed out. But, when we take the time to nurture ourselves, we become strong and confident, and we can go out into the world and take on whatever life throws at us!

I ask myself what’s interrupting MY life?

Of course, I didn’t have the answer right away, I had to ask myself eight (8) times, and I had to dig deep to find the answer. I came to the uncomfortable realization that it wasn’t just one thing interrupting my life, it was several things.

I had to get really up close and personal with myself.

I unpacked the childhood trauma of living in social housing, becoming a teenage single parent, putting employment first to avoid things at home, and desperately wanting to return to school.

I took those negative thoughts, the trauma that haunted me, and turned them into positivity. I turned my life around; I took it back! I applied to that university and furthered my education. It was hard at first, I received a lot of passive-aggressive comments about my writing style and structure.

This experience resulted in me suffering from anxiety, weight gain, and living in a place where negative self-talk became the norm. It was painful and hurtful to experience but, it allowed me time to think critically about the life I want to live and the goals I want to achieve. (BGI) was established. I wanted to build a community where women like myself can live a life where they are bold, empowered, and unapologetic, where they don't have to worry about who they are and who they are becoming.

Big Girl Interrupted (BGI) is dedicated to inspire women to uncover, “what is interrupting” their life. We empower women to disrupt the patterns that have impaired their ability to succeed and grow. While learning to stand in their power and discovering their true authentic self. We are manifesting positivity, growth, and success for the future.
