10th November 2014 Re: ICFR Press Conference on state of Human Rights in Egypt, 13th Nov 2014 The International Coalition for Freedoms and Rights (ICFR) will be holding a Press Conference on the state of Human Rights in Egypt, following the UN's Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review on Egypt on the 5th of November 2014, and the ICFR 4th delegation to Egypt in October. The press conference and will be attended by the head of the 4th ICFR delegation, as well as a number of legal and human rights experts. It aims to highlight the status of human rights and rule of law in Egypt, as well as understand the 18 months on from the military coup in July 2013. Further, panellists will address the events surrounding the UNHRC review of Egypt’s human rights record in Geneva last week. The panellists will be: Roger Sahota is a human rights solicitor specialising in domestic and international criminal law. He has worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Special Court for Sierra Leone. Dr Maha Azzam is Chair of the Egyptian Revolutionary Council. Michael Ellman Solicitor (retired), international human rights consultant, ex-Chair of Solicitors International Human Rights Group; Officer of the Board, FIDH. Toby Cadman is a barrister specialising in war crimes, international terrorism, extradition and human rights. He has been senior legal counsel to the Chief Prosecutor of the Bosnian war crimes chamber, and defence counsel at the Bangladeshi war crimes tribunal.
