At InterContinental Maldives, we take your well-being seriously and would like to help you find your way to a good night’s sleep with our ‘Sleep Well’ Programme. The described sleep ritual will allow your body and mind to get ready to sleep and to receive relief from resting your head on a perfectly selected pillow to closing your eyes and falling asleep.

GET READY TO SLEEP WELL When you are ready to leave the day behind, take a warm shower to clean your body and rinse your mind. Do this consciously and allow yourself to be present in the moment. Consciousness focusing on yourself is the key to maximise on the effectiveness of this routine and to help you guide yourself to a wholesome and re-energising sleep.

STEP 1: TASTE Snack your ‘Sleep Well Treat’ and be fully aware of its powerful ingredients. Enjoy the bitter taste of the dark chocolate, the nutty flavours and the fruity notes that deliver natural sleep remedies to your body.

STEP 2: SIGHT Slowly eliminating outside stimulants and irritants will calm your mind and aid the process to find a good night’s rest. In your villa, the dim lights are carefully designed to create the perfect setting for sleep. The softened lighting not only fosters a relaxing atmosphere but also helps in easing strain on the eyes. It is crucial to establish a calm environment before bedtime, and the gentle glow of dim lights signals to the brain that it’s time to release melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone.

STEP 3: TOUCH As our body temperature slightly drops to conserve energy, it’s essential to choose bed linens that facilitate this cooling process. Our bed linens are crafted from natural fibres like cotton, offers unmatched comfort with its absorbent, breathable, and soft properties. Consciously feel the cooling and soft bed linen on your skin when you sink onto your bed, ready to go to sleep. A feeling that will over time give you comfort and relax your mind as you internalise the end of the day and beginning of resting period.

STEP 4: SMELL The island-made lavender-scented potpourri placed on your pillow, is another aid on your sleep journey. Made from dried island flowers, island-made lavender spray and recycled jute the scent calms your thoughts and when used on a regular basis will condition your mind to set to sleep. Keep the sleep token close to your head, inhale the soothing scent of Lavender, close your eyes and let your dreams take over.

STEP 5: SOUND While the sound of nature is a beautiful backdrop for some, for others the experience may vary and disturb their resting time. A steady music, with natural flow of highs and lows, following a good sleep pattern can enhance sleep quality. The right choice of music can even prevent the brain from getting lost in circular thoughts that may otherwise precent deep sleep. Our selection of music is based on science and proven to contribute positively to sleep quality – however your personal taste plays an important role in the effectiveness of this practice.
