Important Tips Take Your Time Allow 1-2 hours for this repair and be patient. Most mistakes are caused by rushing through the steps. Resting time for the adhesive to set will also be required after the repair. Be Gentle Remember that you are handling fragile hardware. Stay Organized Note the placement of screws and small parts as you disassemble the device. Keep screws and small parts from each step separate and laid out on a clean flat surface. Use the included logo magnet to keep screws from rolling away. Use a paperweight to hold your booklet open or follow the flowchart online. Warranty Information We offer a lifetime warranty on any unused component that still has all protective films and stickers attached, or that is not functioning properly. You have waived the option for professional repair by attempting this on your own, therefore accepting responsibility for the outcome. The Apple warranty is void when the device is damaged, but further opening the device will void any supplemental insurance you may have purchased. step
1
Apply Heat & Insert iSesamo
Heat Tool
iSesamo
Moving in a circular motion around the frame, heat all four sides of the digitizer using the hot air gun or hair dryer. Once the glass reaches a temperature between 100째 and 120째 F the adhesive will begin to loosen. After heating, place the large suction cup on the glass at the upper left corner of the device. Pulling up with light force, you should see a gap appear at the corner. When there is an opening, insert the iSesamo. As you work the iSesamo around this edge and create more separation, insert guitar picks to keep the gap open. Keep your heat gun or hair dryer ready as the digitizer will continue to cool. Frequently applying heat will keep the adhesive loose and allow removal of the digitizer assembly.

Floss LCD
iSesamo
Use the iSesamo to gently lift one upper LCD corner and feed a 24" length of dental floss underneath. Do the same to the other upper corner. With a side to side motion, like a saw, slowly move toward the bottom of the iPad. This will break the adhesive loose between the back side of the LCD and the mid-plate cover.

Lift LCD
Once the LCD is detached from the adhesive, lift and fold the LCD from the top up and toward yourself as shown and rest the LCD flat on a protective surface such as a cloth or piece of foam. Do not lay it directly onto the broken digitizer. CAUTION: The LCD cable cannot be disconnected until the mid-plate and EMI shield are removed. Lay the LCD down, but be careful to not rip or tear the cable shown in the red square.

Remove Mid-Plate Screws
Phillips screwdriver
If WiFi: Remove 14 screws securing mid-plate to the frame. If 4G/LTE: Remove 13 screws securing mid-plate to the frame. CAUTION: The left side of the iPad Mini has magnets, which will demagnetize your screwdriver. As you unscrew, pull removed screws out toward the center, not the frame. If they attach to the frame, do not use the screwdriver to move it away. 12

Lift Control Board
Spudger
Gently peel the digitizer control board from the frame with the flat end of the nylon spudger. When the control board is freed, peel the adhesive from the back, then set aside. Clean Frame
Spudger
iPad 2 shown here
Use the enclosed Adhesive Remover Pad to clear away all of the former screen's adhesive left on the frame. All old adhesive must be thoroughly removed to create a perfect seal between the digitizer and the frame. Remaining adhesive will prevent the digitizer from properly seating. Using the flat edge of the nylon spudger, carefully scrape the adhesive off. Once all adhesive is removed, wipe-down the frame with the included alcohol prep-pads. Watch our accompanying video on Youtube for complete cleaning tips.

16
Frame Inspection
Inspect the metal frame for damage, dents, or depressions. Damaged corners will prevent new screens from seating properly and can cause the new glass to break. Most dents in the frame can be flattened with a socket rested against the inside of a dented corner and a small hammer to tap the socket toward the outside. Avoid any damage to the frame by always making your tapping motions outward to avoid accidentally harming internal components. Slightly jagged edges may only require filing with a small metal file. Be careful to keep metal shavings out of the iPad. iPad Mini Screen Replacement

step
20
Check iPad Functions & Flex Cable
Gently fold the new screen up over the frame and lay it down. Before you complete the repair, test all of the functions of the iPad by powering it on and checking all of the following:
• Power button
• Front-facing camera
• Mute switch
• Rear-facing camera
• Volume up/down
• Microphone
• Digitizer/Touch
• Charging port
• Display and Light
• WiFi and Cell signal
Run your finger across the entire length of the home button flex cable on the INSIDE of the digitizer. If the home button actuates while touching this area, it is possible you may have damaged the home button flex cable. CAUTION: Power off iPad after completing all tests and before continuing assembly. iPad Mini Screen Replacement

Install Mid-Plate & Place Screws
A
Phillips screwdriver
Gently lay the digitizer screen back down in front. Slide and install the mid-plate into place. Insert the two Phillips screws over the volume control cable removed during Step 11 and LIGHTLY turn the screws. CAUTION: Do not fully tighten screws yet! Note: Remember that the magnetized frame will attract screws as you work. Do not touch the frame with the screwdriver.

22
Tighten Mid-Plate Screws
Phillips screwdriver
If WiFi: Tighten 14 screws securing the mid-plate that were removed during Step 10. If 4G/LTE: Tighten 13 screws securing the mid-plate that were removed during Step 10. You can now tighten the two volume control screws placed in Step 26. CAUTION: Do not over tighten screws. The screws are going into a soft aluminum alloy post and can easily be stripped. iPad Mini Screen Replacement

Prepare & Secure LCD
Phillips screwdriver
Fold the LCD up and back into place. Insert and tighten the four corner screws removed during Step 6. CAUTION: Before you lay the LCD back into place, make sure there is no dirt, debris, or broken glass on the mid-plate. Use a clean, soft-bristled brush, such as a cosmetics brush, to clear away any debris.

Replace Foam & EMI Tape
UPPER RIGHT
LOWER RIGHT
Place the foam back over the LCD screws on the top and bottom right corners removed during Step 6.
Fold the LCD EMI tapes back onto the LCD at the bottom edge that were peeled back during Step 7. Replace the thin strips of adhesive material back on top of the folded tapes. Temporarily fold the new digitizer over the top of the iPad and rest on the LCD, but do not attempt to seal it. Note: If the iPad Mini is a 4G/LTE model there is also a strip of EMI tape at the top center of the LCD.

Clean LCD & Retest Functions
A
B
A. Ensure that the LCD is clean and free of any dust, dirt, or fingerprints. Keep a soft-bristled brush handy, like a clean cosmetic brush, to quickly and gently brush away any dust before removing protective films. B. Just as in Step 23, power on and test all features of the iPad Mini again. Perform another test-fit of the digitizer to ensure the magnets are correctly placed and are not preventing perfect seating of the screen. 28

Close iPad & Make Final Adjustments
Tweezers
Set the TOP half of the digitizer into the frame, leaving the bottom open. Make sure the front-facing camera plate aligns and drops into place. Peel off the last piece of digitizer adhesive backing, making sure the digitizer flex cable does not stick to the adhesive.
Spudger
Using a nylon spudger, with one smooth motion, GENTLY push the digitizer flex cable inward and rest the lower portion of the digitizer into the frame. The digitizer flex cable should set with a gentle curve as shown. CAUTION: Do not pinch or force the digitizer flex cable.
