Heather McNeice and Krista Waddell are Sunshine Coast mums who are also volunteer representatives of the Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF) in Queensland. Heather first visited Bhutan, the lastremaining Himalayan kingdom, in 2010 with her eleven year old daughter. A chance visit to a rural primary school inspired Heather to return the following year to raise money for an education program in Bhutan by completing a 100km trek. Krista came on board in 2012 and their fundraising treks in Bhutan are now an annual event. This October, Heather and Krista will undertake a 160km trek in North Western Bhutan. These long treks raise awareness of, and funds for, a girls’ education program which is supported by AHF. The program assists disadvantaged girls living in mountain communities to attend school, many of whom are the victims of domestic violence or live in extreme poverty. Heather and Krista hold a series of fundraising events throughout the year and will be holding a lunch at Gusto da Gianni on Friday, September 4. STYLES THE MERCEDES-BENZ CAR WRAP The Urbbana brand is known for its dynamic and distinctive style, with daring colour combinations and fashion forward prints designed to make bold statements. Urbbana’s avant-garde reputation put owner Sam Abi into the driver’s seat at Mercedes Benz when the luxury car manufacturer asked Sam to design a cutting edge C-Class car wrap that embodied the fashion label’s sophisticated style. When Sam initially started designing the car wrap, he used similar colours and patterns to what is used on his most popular Urbbana shirts and jackets - floral, paisley, checked, plaid etc. To his surprise, this design did not appeal to him on a car. After thinking long and hard about what design would reflect his personal style, he started the design process from scratch. “I realised while I rarely design black coloured garments in
the Urbbana collection, both of my cars are in fact black,” Sam said. “I asked myself the question ‘what car wrap design would I want to see on a car that I would drive?’ “I ended up with a design concept that is far more subtle and inspired by one of my favourite fabric techniques Jacquard textile, which is a self-patterned textile. “I incorporated a ‘stitching’ pattern on the side of the car, which is a signature of my clothing designs. The diamond shape on the car ceiling is part the of Urbbana logo, which represents the durability, luxury and quality of the Urbbana brand.” We would also like to congratulate Sam on his fourth consecutive showing at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane last month where he flaunted his hot new collections.

Buyers have a renewed thirst for Brisbane riverfront property, with 12 absolute waterfront apartments in the Pinnacle development at Portside Wharf selling for a combined $10.26 million in just two weeks. The luxury apartment spending spree tips total sales in Pinnacle - the sixth residential stage of Portside Wharf - past the $100 million mark and takes total sales at Portside Wharf to more than $520 million. The sales are on the back of the launch of five new display apartments and include eleven, two bedroom apartments which sold for between $610,000 and $850,000 and a penthouse worth $1.86 million, leaving just one penthouse remaining for sale alongside four River Terraces and a mix of two bedroom apartments. The buyers were a combination of owner occupiers and investors, with the majority from the local area looking to upgrade to a brand new riverfront address in the blue chip suburb of Hamilton with Portside Wharf’s host of shopping, dining and lifestyle amenities at the doorstep. Brookfield Residential Properties General Manager Lee Butterworth said the completion of Pinnacle in April this year sparked a surge in buyer enquiry and sales had spiked since the opening of the new display apartments. “Pinnacle has recently opened five new display apartments - one River Terrace and four, two bedroom apartments - which have created a lot of interest and contributed to the spate of sales we have had recently,” he said. “The displays are located on varying levels to showcase the different vistas and give prospective purchasers a feel for what it would be like to call Pinnacle home.
LIVING “There is also a sense of urgency because people can see that opportunities to purchase a brand new, built apartment at Portside Wharf are limited.” Pinnacle commands a prime riverfront location and boasts a great mix of floor plans with something to suit every buyer and budget. Mr Butterworth said Portside Wharf was ideally located in the blue chip suburb of Hamilton and was the beating heart of Brisbane’s Inner North. “Portside Wharf is the key development in the Northshore Hamilton urban renewal project - the largest of its kind currently being undertaken in Brisbane and one of the largest in Australia,” he said. “The mixed-use community sits between significant economic areas with easy access to the domestic and international airports and Gateway Motorway. “The precinct is well connected to the rest of the city via public transport, including the CityCat, and major roads such as Kingsford Smith Drive which is set to receive a $650 million upgrade, turning it into a six lane boulevard. “This huge investment by the Queensland Government demonstrates its commitment to the ongoing development of Northshore Hamilton and ensures the continued success of Portside Wharf as a residential and retail mecca.”
