Academic Achievement We firmly believe that the first step in academic success lies with matching the right courses to individual needs, abilities and aptitudes. We therefore offer a comprehensive range of courses and remain a college that is able to deliver both traditional and vocational subjects to provide the maximum opportunity for success. We tailor provision for the variety of individual learning styles and our close community means that our students are not just simply a number to us. Everyone has a different future path. Our aim is to ensure that our students are embarking on the appropriate course to place them in pole position for their future ambitions.

We deliver an extensive summer transition project to ensure our students are supported throughout the move from GCSE to A-Level.

The Calderdale 6 Group is an exciting and collaborative approach to Post 16 delivery. Brighouse Sixth Form College, The Brooksbank School, Crossley Heath, Lightcliffe Academy and Ryburn Valley working together to allow students more breadth in subject choice.

Preparing For The Future

70% of students attend university of which 20% are Russell Group universities 30% of students progress onto employment or an apprenticeship

Whether our students are planning to make an application to Oxbridge, a Russell Group university or entering the world of work we provide high quality advice and guidance to support those important next steps. We prepare our students for the challenges of the modern world through our outstanding careers and destinations programme and a specialist Post-16 careers advisor. We hold the national Quality in Careers Standard. We also encourage students to be adventurous and seek out fantastic opportunities. Students have worked in London, Leeds, Manchester and even Europe in a range of roles, including; working in law firms, shadowing medical professions, teaching lessons and training with the Armed Forces.

Pastoral Support “I was actively supported to consider alternatives other than university. I applied for a Degree Apprenticeship Scheme with Nestle where I gained 3 years experience in a global business and a 1st class Business degree. I graduated in 2017 and now work at Nestle within sales, it was the best choice as I learnt on the job, applied my degree and had no debt!” “After working for a day during HE week with local businesses was offered an apprenticeship in Accounting and I start in September!”

A Personal Tutor provides students with one to one support in all areas of college life. Tutorial sessions on future destinations, careers, finance, current affairs, health and well-being protect the personal development of our students.
