Make Up Theme:
Futuristic Bride
Sizzlin Scizzors
The idea behind presenting the futuristic bridal makeup and hair look was to bring in the changing trends in the hair do and make up styling for the wouldbe bride. Nowadays, with openness in the society, the would-be bride is getting freedom and is looking for something which is unique and makes the bride stand out of the crowd says Mrs. Deepali Chugh. Would-be brides are preferring fusions i.e, mixing traditional and Indian wear. Hence, with the changing trends in the bridal attires, the makeup has to be in contrast for the same. This being the reason, Deepali Chugh, Director and make up expert at ‘Sizzlin Scizzors’ presented the HD Makeup with 3D Impact on 5 model brides at Jaipur Couture Show season iCraze | SEPTEMBER 2015 | 20
2. HD makeup is extremely light and looks exceptionally well on the high lens DSLR cameras and the video shoot. Infused with light deflectors and pigments, the innovative micro fine makeup gives the illusion of smooth and even complexions. Mrs. Chugh, adds saying the makeup done was glossy, glamorous, and glittering. The colours used for the eye shadow were gold, copper and silver which she predicts will be the most commonly used in the futuristic bridal make up. More of the royal colours will be produced by the beauty product companies like Makeup Studio, Mac, Bobbi Brown and others as these colours are preferraly going to be the most used colours for the futuristic brides. The team of Sizzlin Scizzors contributed to Jaipur Couture Show season 2 as the official makeup partners for all the beautiful models and the very gorgeous showstopper Tulip Joshi.

Trending Hairstyles for men and women Your hairstyle talks a lot about your personality and can make or break your look. Mr. Roger Peter Ross, Senior trainer of Green Trends Unisex Hair & Style Salon shares the list of top trending hairstyles for men and women.
Women’s Hairstyles
Pixie Cut
Carried out in style by bold women, the pixie cut was introduced and popularized way back in 1953 by the renowned Hollywood star Audrey Hepburn in her popular debut movie Roman Holiday. Characterized by its unique style of hair being shorter in the sides being in contrast to the longer ones in front, the chic short haircut is truly for the brave. It takes a lot of guts to get a pixie cut, especially if you have had luscious long locks for a very long time. The trending haircut comes in different variations and styles based on length, texture, shape of the face, At first glance it gives a boyish look, but the pixie haircut is uniquely feminine as it is a mix of varying styles like edgy, cute, sophisticated, classy, etc.
Bob Cut with Bangs The bob cut never goes out of style as it has been recently spotted with a modern twist to it. The Bob haircut has been seen since World War I as women had to join the workforce and had no time to care for their long hair. Over time, the style came into vogue with many transformations including the bangs/fringes added to it. It portrayed a sense of independence and brought out the confidence in women. The style was revived in recent times with variations in length of the cut around, usually shorter at the back and longer towards the front referred to as A-line bob. Bobs can be long, short, straight, curly, wavy, texturized or even messy.
Sleek Hairstyle Ravishing, straight, long, lustrous hair are the main characteristics of a sleek hairstyle. Creating an elegant look, the style can be carried out with layers or even with a plain straight cut. This style can be a lasting or temporary style by opting for a permanent straightening or using a hair iron. Majority of women, carry out this style in a single colour, but it also provides opportunities to experiment with colours and shades with the right amount of highlights adding depth and texture to it.
iCraze | SEPTEMBER 2015 | 22
Outward curls Curls can be defined by nature and easily achieved using curlers or curling irons. The basic prerequisite for this hairstyle is that one would require long hair to curl the ends. Curling the hair in one direction gives an organized, modern look and the outward direction gives it a bounce and a natural ‘wind in the hair’ look. By applying a hairspray on the curls and brushing it to soften and finalize the look, the curls would last longer through the day.
Puff hairstyle Named after Madame de Pompadour the mistress of King Louis XV, the style gives a voluminous look as the hair is combed upwards and is worn over the forehead region, giving volume in the front, which gradually recedes towards the back. The pomp in the middle section varies with the tapered and faded sides. It was popularised by the legendary singer Elvis Presley as the style became an instant rage in the 1950s. The vintage look has also been doing its rounds in terms of popularity these days amongst both men and women, especially amongst youngsters as it is a convenient style worn every day.
Men’s Hairstyles Under Cut The key characteristic of an undercut hairstyle is the short sides and the long top. This hairstyle is simple, in vogue and has plenty of variations. Anyone with straight , wavy or curly hair can achieve this style. The hair on the top can be styled in different such as it being be swept to a side, spiked and styled, slicked back or can fall as a fringe etc.
Man bun The Man Bun is getting very popular and is sure to stay. Gone are the days when long hair was reserved for the rock stars. The Man bun has many variations and there are different kinds of buns such as the messy man bun , office bun, the top knot bun, low man bun, ponybun, man bun undercut, man bun taper cut, semi man bun etc. To obtain this hairstyle all one needs to do is to grab the desired section of hair and create a bun by securing it with a rubber band.
Pompadour The Pompadour hairstyle is very popular among the men and is sure to stay. The main characteristic of this hairstyle is having short sides with the hair swept upwards and backwards. The Pompadour hairstyle never goes out of style and has variations to suit every face shape. One can choose from the Classic styles to the Modern/Angular/Extreme styles. 23 | SEPTEMBER 2015 | iCraze

Do you consider fashion a language? I think it’s an art and an expression, a language, a poetry! It’s very hard to define fashion. It’s something that brings out the best in you, even if you are wearing a simple T-shirt, it can look great over you. Fashion brings out the mood and parts of you that are hidden inside and you realise them only when you wear a particular thing and I think that’s just beautiful. What is your idea of style? I normally flaunt simplicity. Style never goes away and changes according to the individual. Each one has an inherent style in everything they do.

What’s your take on perception of style and beauty in India? We are in a country where we have different mindsets. We have so many thoughts and things going on and everyone has a different way to look at it. It’s a very, very interesting and beautiful mix of mindsets.
Does fashion have a political role? I don’t think so unless of course there is a ban on something to wear.
What are the three signs of beauty for you in a woman? Intelligence, confidence and the aura of the person! I think beauty depends upon which part of the world you are, everyone has a different parameter of it. When you are these three, you are very attractive. That’s the true beauty. Are you spiritual and religious? Absolutely, I am an ardent Shiva bhakt. I am seeking all the time. It reflects in your style and living as well. Spirituality greatly inspires style.
Have you ever failed at fashion? I don’t think so (Laughs). First time you went to a fashion show. When I took part in Miss India. Do you ever get jealous by other people’s fashion choices?

I don’t know what the term jealousy means in any way. Each one is unique, we all have our niche, we are all here to bring out the best in us. So there is no point of getting jealous of anyone in any term. What do you do or think before you sleep? I meditate before I sleep.
Your favourite piece of clothing. Cotton and a radiant smile! I dress up according to the mood I am in.
One tip that instantly makes you feel good about yourself? When I have a successful work out session. Your favourite ethnic attire. Saree.
How will you summarise your fashion evolution? It’s happy and instinctive!

Vinod Shankar Nair
The man behind
Pride of Lions
A revered motivator Vinod Shankar Nair, talks more about his book “The Pride Of Lions with Chandra Thapa.
Vinod Shankar Nair, a highly respected strategist and author who has created many brands and stars, is the pillar of strength silently supporting and empowering some of the best-known names of our time. Beginning his journey as an officer in the Indian Army, he spent six eventful years in the Indian Army during which he participated actively in live operations and high risk missions along the line of control in Jammu & Kashmir. He is a part of India’s social elite; his presence adds credibility and flavour to all occasions. He has been a regular judge, celeb guest and coach in several popular TV shows. Here is more about him. Tell us about your book Pride of Lions. Pride of Lions is a taut thriller, gritty and extremely fast paced. While it does have a lot of action, it is also intense as it addresses deeper issues facing the youth of current day India. Though a few critics and sections of readers insist that Pride of Lions is a true story, it is in fact a piece of pure fiction. It is a fast paced thriller, a compulsive page turner that spans several genres weaving pure military combat with deeper questions faced by Indian youth today and lacing both with the super natural. In short, it is a master piece by a master. Something you just cannot miss.
Inefficiency and corruption eat into the Indian system like an unstoppable cancer at all levels today. Aware but completely helpless, a frustrated group of students debate and question their own identity and the very concept of pride in their country.
When their deliberations get them nowhere, an enigmatic substitute teacher transports them to an obscure war-ravaged mountain top in No Man’s Land and immerses them in the midst of a fierce gun battle between two equally determined sides in a 4bid to help them find themselves and the answers they seek. A soul stirring love story of brotherhood, courage and passion.
Give us an insight into your main character in The Pride of Lion. There is no one single main character in the book. That’s the magic of a war story, it is team work and that’s the
hero of the story.
What were the early influences on your writing and how do they manifest in your work? My early influences would be Fredrick Forsythe, James Clavell and Edgar Rice Burroughs. However, Ive been writing since 28 years now so at some point in this journey, its impossible to say when, the external and internal influences have merged into one single style unique to me and that’s me. The influences are now so deeply internalized that its impossible to say what comes from whom or where.
How does writing change the writer? Depends on what you are writing and how passionate you are about it. In this case, writing Pride of Lions has been very relieving, like a catharsis. What books have fortified you as a writer? Gilgamesh, Anaeid, The Odessa File, Shogun.
Do you think that the unconscious mind a writer’s best friend and why? Not at all. It is a question how efficiently your conscious mind is able to tap and extract the reserves of the unconscious mind. Training is essential to ensure that te unconscious brings up to its surface that which lies within and equal skill to be able to extract and make sense by the conscious mind. Which writers inspire you? Virgil, Stephen Mitchel, Swami Vivekananda, Isaac Asimov, Stephen Hawking, Fredrick Forsythe, James Clavell, Erich Von Daniken and Edgar Rice Burroughs
What are you working on now? I am currently doing research on quantum physics, mythology and archeology in order to put them together with some fun fiction.
Your first book. I wrote my book when I was nine years old. It was an action thriller about a kidnapping and it was called ‘Raid on Shaktigarh’. Never was published though. Your favorite author. Favorites change depending upon genre The book you are currently reading Shivpuranas by Ravi Menon, fascinating read Your next book. I am currently doing research on quantum physics, mythology and archeology in order to put them together with some fun fiction.

he festive season is almost upon us. Besides the family rituals and lip-smacking food, this time of the year is also marked by the series of parties and gettogethers that make it all the more exciting. leading flash website in the fashion and lifestyle space brings you these easy-to-apply tips to help you be the most stylish person at whichever party you are throwing or attending! 1. Dress like a diva: Let’s get down to the basics first. Your ensemble is the most eyecatching aspect at any family do. That’s why it’s imperative that you choose one which is embedded in the current
design trends. We recommend a twist in traditional Indian attire with some voguish western infusions. Pair your Salwar Kameez with a long, embellished jacket or try out fashion-forward outfits that combine ghera dhoti pants or skirts with peplum tops. Trust us, you will be making heads turn and how! 2. Impress with arm candy: A festive outfit is incomplete without the right arm candy.
Bags, handbags and clutches complete your feminine flourish and also speak volumes about your attention to detail. Ornate wristlets are all the rage this season. The box clutch is still in but with a new avatar. A more rectangular, sleeker clutch is what you should be seen with this year. Saddle bags and sling bags remain trendy and if you don’t wish to invest in one which is particularly traditional, just get one in plain silver, gold or beige that will also go well with your western party outfits post the festive period. 3. Strut in stylish shoes: Nobody understands the love for beautiful shoes more than a woman. They can instantly up your glamour quotient and
Chanderi, Silk Floral Kurta, J 5999
add that necessary razzmatazz to your festive look. Simple stilettoes with a little glittery panel, studded wedges or even embellished court shoes can go a long way in enhancing the overall appeal of your ensemble. 4. Mesmerize with the right make-up: The most prominent make-up trends for this season are luckily very easy to ape at home. Red or berry coloured lips and flushed cheeks are the perfect way to get that gorgeous glow on your face. Swap the regular metallic shades of gold and silver with bronze when it comes to eye shadow. It really warms up the face and gives it a nice freshness. Dramatic eyeliner remains a staple even
this year round so if you haven’t perfect the winged shape, now’s the time to get it right! 5. Captivate with your curls: Soft curls and bohemian waves remain favourite this festive season. If you want to give your hairstyle more of a twist, you can opt for the wavy ponytail. You could also go in for ombre highlights for your curls. Ensure that the highlights are in just one shade lighter than your natural hair colour. Create rumpled waves at home by spraying a volumizer on your damp hair and then blow drying it upside down. Tie it up in a bun with pins, blow dry the bun and then gently undo the pins for that lovely, bounciness.

Deepesh Sharma
eepesh is a true example for the proverb ‘Jack of all, master of none’. But this Mr. Right is master of all too. The ‘Bandra Boy’ drooled upon the hearts of judges and fans of ‘Nach Baliye 7’ through some of his terrific dance moves in spite of being a non-dancer. Deepesh dons many hats of being a DJ, Artist, a successful entrepreneur and now a skilled dancer. This multi-talented star of the new age and prolific musician who has been signed up by one of the top record label in USA “United Beats Record” co-owns the musical band “ Designer Hippies” that have successfully collaborated with top artist from all over the world. Speaking of his musical success, he has been awarded Rashtriya Rajiv Gandhi Achievers Award – for the Best Bollywood Remix in the year 2010. But this is not all it; he even owns a popular Beach Club and fine Italian Restaurant called Chronicle in North Goa. Chart about your childhood? I grew up being a naughty child and have wonderful & fun memories with my siblings. My mother passed
away when I was ten years old but she always taught me to be strong, independent and have a cheerful life.
How was your experience in Nach Baliye 7? It was a great experience with loads of learning and exposure. The journey of being in top 5 took a lot of hard work and improvement in each episode. I am glad to be part of Nach Baliye 7 and got a chance to make amazing friends. What made you take the dancing reality challenge, in spite of being a non-dancer? Life is all about accepting new challenges and pushing your limits to strive for the best. Nach baliye gave me opportunity to be part of exciting dance journey. After Nach Baliye, are you willing to take your dancing to next level? Taking it professionally? I enjoyed the transformation of being a dancer. I am sure I will continue to practice to remain flexible. If I get a choice to dance again, I will be ready to take it as all you need is focus and dedication. But right now, I have other opportunities to take rather
than dancing as my profession. Tell us about your best moment in Nach Baliye? It is tough to think of a particular moment because the journey itself was so beautiful. I still remember I was so nervous on my first act and the transition kept changing with each performance. I enjoyed every day on and off set with Sana and other contestants. Especially on the date of elimination where two other fantastic couples had the same score as us and it was a tie. Who according to you is fit for the title of Nach Baliye 7? The top 5 finalist were incredible and there must be something about them that’s why they lasted. But yes the winning couple was Himmanshoo and Amruta, they deserved it and I am glad they won. Your favorite contender in Nach Baliye. Himmanshoo and Amruta Now talking about your other field of expertise. Music! How was ‘Designer Hippie’ created? Fitness is his first funda every morning after he wakes up. Here is Amit Sawlani in a candid with Manish Solanki talking more about his fitness and life.
H
aving done a lot of fashion shows and brand shoots, the handsome and generous Amit Sawlani is all set to raise his bar. Recently, after walking on the ramp for the Jaipur Couture show and Spykar shoot, he is keeping his both hands full. Here is more to know about his life
and plans.
How was your childhood like? My childhood was as simple as of any other one. I was a bright student but always had my brains into fashion and fame. Since childhood I had a flair for modeling and acting. Although, I am yet to try my hand in acting but very soon will be doing it.
What fascinates you about modeling and film industry? It is a pretty common question that is always asked from the one who either acts or walks on the ramp and my answer is pretty much the same. Fame and money is something that keeps me going. I personally believe fame is something we all crave for and this is the first thing that fascinates me about this industry.
Photo: R5 Artwork
Your first fashion show. My first fashion show was in my 10th standard. It was a competition for the title of Mr. Bhopal and I was the 1st runner up.
Fashion for you is.. Fashion for me is a statement that every individual makes for herself/ himself and leaves behind a trail for the world to follow.
Comfort or Style, what is your pick.
None of them individually is my pick. I believe they both go hand in hand because style is something that varies from one individual to another individual and if you are comfortable in wearing something it becomes your style.
Whom would you credit your success to? I would want to give all the credits of my success to my mother as she is the only being who stood beside me in my difficult times. Without her I would not have been able to achieve all this. Also, I would like to thank my father for being there always when I needed him. Your spare time indulgence. Work out sessions and playing guitar. Your upcoming venture. I have a lot of shows in the pipeline. I will surely share it once I finalized them.
Whom do you look upto in the industry? I aspire to keep up my fitness and for this I look up and admire to Salman Khan.
Your fitness regime. I am kinda fitness freak. Fitness is the first thing that comes to my mind and I freak out for. Every morning I go out for a jog and in the evening I workout for about one and a half hour. Moreover, I believe workout is only 20%, rest 80% depends on what diet do you follow.

My Love
Fitness was my dream and I followed it says the famous gym instructor in Jaipur, Saurabh Mathur. Supriya Khemani listens. field. Lately, I started enjoying the time that I used to spend learning all the techniques. I admire Salman Khan for his mascular body. How important is nutrition to you? Will you strongly suggest your trainees to follow a better diet to improve their fitness goals? Following his dreams and taking love as his inspiration, life brought him here. Helping and serving a lot of people with their fitness issues, he talks more about his journey through fitness and tells us more about how to keep ourselves healthy. Why did you decide to become a fitness trainer?
Ans- Fitness is the most underrated thing in this busy life of people. It’s really difficult to find out time for your health. Therefore, I came up with the thought of becoming a trainer to help people enjoy their fitness even in their busy schedules. Also, I dreamt of having my gym and here I am.
What inspired you to take up fitness as your field of interest? Ans-As everyone has a past, similarly I too had. The one I loved was an inspiration for me to enter into this iCraze | SEPTEMBER 2015 | 62
Ans-Widely believed, nutrition has a major role in proper functioning of the body. Therefore, I believe it’s really important to have a balanced diet which is full of nutrition is required while you workout. If we consider 100% for a fit body and we bifurcate it into two, I would suggest 40% depends on workout and 60% depends on the diet one follows. Ofcourse yes, I strictly ask my trainees to quit junk food and follow the diet chart that I give them while the tenure of their fitness training.
How do you stay updated about the fitness knowledge? Ans-To keep me updated about the latest technology changes on the fitness training programs I usually prefer internet. Apart from that to practice all those changes I keep taking references from my fellow trainers and also from the ones who are well known in the field of fitness training.
If any person walks in and says they want to start training, what evaluations would you begin doing to determine their appropriate fitness program? Ans-Initially, I check on to their stamina level and the diet they follow. I allot them some simple exercises and see what level of exercise shall be allotted to the person according to the pulse level they reach. Also, I keep an idea of anything they are allergic to and later once their stamina improves, I change the level of exercises. What would you suggest to your trainee, weight training or cardio vascular exercise?
Ans-It totally depends on the physic of the person who walks in. If the person is heavy, I strongly suggest the cardio vascular exercises as they are very effective in losing the extra fat. For the people who are fit and wish to lose the inches of fat, I suggest them cardio exercises and the weight training. Suggest any 5 cardiovascular exercises that should be done without the use of machine. Ans- Aerobics Swimming Skipping Dancing
What would you suggest for a safer workout to your trainee to avoid injuries? Ans-I would suggest my trainees the following points: Proper warm up and stretching exercises should be done before they start anything else.
Use of proper supporters if required. Every exercise should be done with proper positioning of the body and slow repetitions. Use of belts.
And the most important one, they should follow proper guidelines given by the trainer.
Suggest any three essential exercises you would want your any trainee to do and why are they in your top three? Ans-Breathing Exercise, Stretching and cycling.
Breathing- It improves the proper and substantial supply of oxygen into the lungs that in turn increases the stamina.
Stretching-It improves the metabolism in the muscles as it boosts up the mitochondrion which in turn protects the muscles from cramps and clichés and bear heavy weights. Cycling- It is the short warm up exercise that heats up the body and makes it ready for other exercises.
How would you describe a healthy diet? What diet plan do you follow? Ans-A healthy diet according to me is something which includes proteins, carbohydrates and fibers. It varies according to the body type of a person. I keep changing my diet every now and then as I believe your should never be accustomed to one sort of diet or exercise. I prefer everything from nonvegetarian to vegetarian diet, brown rice, brown bread, peanut butter, juices,
fruits etc.
What are your thoughts on a Vegan lifestyle? Do you support it or think it is overrated? Ans-I personally do not follow vegan lifestyle as I believe there are some important nutrients which only a non vegetarian diet can supply. Although, I am not against the vegetarian people but non-veg food should be added to your diet as it improves the metabolism of muscles and the skin. With an updated trend of being busy, what
would you suggest on the healthy living? Ans- To all the people who stay busy round the clock due to their working schedule, I would want to suggest the following points for a healthy lifestyle:
• 6-8 hours of sleep should be given to the body • Sleep on time and wake up early. • Go for a walk, perform yoga at home or join a gymnasium. • Make a healthy diet chart for yourself.
• Plenty of water intake should be a habit.

With these simple tips and your gorgeous outfits, you will look your best this festive season! Hydrate With hectic days, you might forget to keep yourself hydrated. Don’t make this mistake! Consume enough water so that you can flaunt the natural glow on your face. Water also helps cleansing your body and hence preventing skin problems. This is one of the most important things which we usually do not pay attention to. Drink sufficient amount of water every day. Your skin needs water to be healthy and look naturally beautiful Food Habits Diets can go for a toss when it comes to this season. However, remember to keep your food habits in control and maintain a balance in what you choose to eat. The key to clear skin is a balanced and lifestyle. Avoid excess of oily food during the festivities Beauty Sleep Parties can go on forever and this could lead to lack of sleep. Insufficient sleep can harm your skin making it look dull. So make sure, you sleep well and balance it out. Do not use too much of makeup products We all want to look our best iCraze | SEPTEMBER 2015 | 64
during festivals, but our skin needs to breathe too. Do not cover it with a mask of makeup at all times. It blocks skin pores and the harmful chemicals cause a lot of irreparable damage to your skin. Remember to exfoliate Festivals also bring with themselves a lot of work. From shopping on the streets to fireworks- all of this leads to pollution of the skin. Remember to exfoliate your skin before going to bed after a long tiring day to prevent clogging of dirt inside the pores on your skin. Use sunscreen If you’re too scared of going out in the sun due to fear of skin tan, apply good quality sunscreen cream 20 minutes before going out and reapply it whenever needed. Now you can do all the festival masti without being worried about tan. Skin care treatments For that flawless radianceYoung women are opting for all kinds of quick, non-invasive treatments to get perfect skin during the festive season. Women are opting for soft peels, gel
peels and chemical peels. These vary according to skin type and need. The dull, tanned topmost layer of the skin is peeled away. It also helps to get rid of dark spots and lighten scars, and reveals the fresh flawless layer of skin. These peels do take a few days to show results and should be done under the guidance of qualified dermatologists or cosmetologists. Iron out the fine lines- To get a botox, you don’t need to wait to be 40. Even young men and women in their 30s are getting botox to even out the fine lines on their faces. This procedure is also quick and non-invasive. Go sweat-free- Festive season means spending a lot of time outdoors, in the hot, humid climate. There are bound to be sweat patches on your expensive festive clothes. Botox helps to stop underarm sweating.
