KNOW YOUR OPTIONS. Explore your options to find the right financial fit for you at isu.edu/cost.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID There are three categories of federal student aid: grants, loans, and workstudy money. Financial aid is money to help students pay for college. The money is sourced from the federal government, state governments, the university, and a variety of other public and private sources. Most financial aid is awarded on the basis of need. GRANTS are awarded based on need and do not require repayment. Grants are generally provided by the federal government or individual states.

10

STUDENT LOANS are a form of aid that must be repaid, with interest. There are many types of student loans, which may or may not be need-based. The Financial Aid Office will determine your eligibility. STUDENT EMPLOYMENT, like WorkStudy programs, provides students with employment opportunities both on and off campus. Participation in this program is typically based on financial need. isu.edu/career

“It was the best thing I could have done for myself! It allowed me to see a whole other side of marketing, for a different type of business. If it wasn’t for that CPI I wouldn’t have found that I could take my marketing degree and put it to use in a nonprofit that has totally captured my heart. I loved my CPI and all my mentors along the way! College was an amazing journey!“

“My CPI gave me a great introduction to ways that my interests in areas of study could be applied to concrete work. This was hugely valuable when entering the workforce. It also gave me a really strong and practical foundation in data analysis and reporting that I was able to bring to the workforce right away. Entering the workforce with a liberal arts degree showed that I could think critically and write well, and my CPI experience showed that I could apply those skills.”

“The skills I gained during my internship proved invaluable during my time as a graduate student in Hungary, Ireland, and now in Switzerland. It gave me a distinct advantage in my master’s degree, and has helped me stand out among the other candidates in my current position as a Ph.D. research assistant at the History Institute of the University of Bern in Switzerland.”

“My CPI experience has been very influential in my career as an archivist and special collections librarian in higher education. The advanced knowledge I gained during my CPI helps me tremendously in my current position. With these skills, I am able to assist with providing research, access, and appreciation of historic, unique, and artistic cultural heritage materials.

“My internship allowed me to work with people who have taught, mentored, and inspired me to follow the career path I am now pursuing with Idaho Fish and Game. I had no path to pursue before my CPI. I knew I wanted to work with wildlife and natural resources but knew little about the agencies that provide this work experience. I now know what career path I want to take and understand the steps I need to take to get there. Because of my CPI and the helpful staff at IDFG, I am confident in my career path.”
