"Having worked alongside UKLC for many years, I am happy to say that this organisation has my complete trust. The educational programmes they offer are of a high-quality standard and they always try to accommodate the needs of each group of students. In particular, their residential summer courses for young learners have a great mix of nationalities and an excellent programme of extra-curricular activities and excursions. Furthermore, in the past UKLC staff have been very welcoming and always willing to help our students and group leaders." Schola, Spain

We pride ourselves on our strong relationships with partner agencies. We understand that agents need high quality partners in the UK in order to gain satisfied clients who will generate word of mouth marketing on their return home. Our relationship is built on trust. We work with your group leaders to ensure that the safety of your students is the priority throughout all of our centres. We understand that the success of our business is inseparable from the success of the agents we work with. We will work with you to create attractive marketing material to sell our courses. We help with the details of getting groups to our schools; supporting you during the visa application process and finding the most cost-effective transfers from each airport. Because of agent's demand for a great value centre with good access to Manchester and London airports, we are pleased to offer courses at Reaseheath College in 2015. This follows the successful inclusion of Plymouth, & York St Peters in 2014 and means we are meeting agent's demand for quality programmes across the whole UK.

Directors, UKLC

OUR PROGRAMMES Our programmes combine quality English teaching with a wealth of sports, excursions and evening social activities to provide an enjoyable educational and cultural experience. Our courses are available for groups of young people aged 8 to 17 years (minimum 10 students). Groups must be accompanied by a group leader, who acts in loco parentis to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their students during their stay, with the full support of UKLC staff. For this reason we do not take individual students. June, July and August - Summer Programmes During July and August, UKLC provide high-quality international Summer Camps at residential sites across the UK. In addition to our activity programmes, we run "English Plus" specialist sports and performing arts programmes on four afternoons a week at Manchester Chetham's School of Music and University of Chester. Occasionally it is necessary to run a zig zag programme with afternoon lessons at some of our centres. September to June – Mini-Stays Between September and June we offer a range of Mini-Stay Programmes, with homestay and hotel options, in the historic city of Chester. We also offer hotel based options in London. These can include British children working with EFL students during International Days of Learning (IDOL). These programmes are fully flexible to the needs of your group and activities can be tailored to suit students requirements. More details on these programmes can be found on pages 31 and 32. Included in our standard Summer programmes: › 5 days (15 hours) of English tuition per week › Up to 4 afternoons of supervised sports and non-sports activities › 1 free group leader place for every 15 students › Full board residential accommodation in the school › Excursions (min. one full-day and one half-day per week) › Evening activities. Conversation Clubs are available as an alternative to some evening activities on at least 2 days per week. › End of course certificate Extras › Airport transfers › Optional extra excursions, e.g. London or Alton Towers Theme Park › Optional extra activities, e.g watersports › Optional evening activities off site, e.g. bowling, ice-skating or theatre › Optional specialist activity tuition, e.g. football, dance, drama or tennis › Optional Trinity College examinations 6

Tuition All our standard UK residential English language courses include 15 hours per week of English classes from Monday to Friday (groups arriving mid-week will recover the extra lessons by doing an afternoon session, usually in the form of a town trail). All our classes have a maximum of 15 students per class and we ensure all language levels contain the minimum possible age range. All students receive a UKLC attendance certificate and report at the end of the course. We use a Task Based Learning approach to our lessons which aims to engage the students' interest and ignite a passion and enthusiasm for the language. There is a great focus on speaking and our priority is to increase their confidence and enjoyment of learning. We also include preparation and follow-up classes related to the excursions as a key part of the curriculum and, in addition, students work together with their teacher on a course project, using appropriate technology such as computers and cameras, which forms the basis of a final performance at the end of their stay. Our teachers are all qualified (Trinity TESOL or Cambridge CELTA equivalent) and are recruited for their passion and enthusiasm for the teaching of English and their desire to teach young learners. We offer support and training to all our staff to help ensure that they deliver the best quality service to our students. Placement Tests We offer classes at four levels from Elementary to Upper Intermediate. Students are given a placement test on their first day of classes to ensure they are placed at the correct level. Examinations We offer the option of taking Trinity College Spoken English exams on-site for courses of 10 days or longer. Sports and activities We provide a wide mix of exciting sports and activities up to 4 afternoons a week, both indoors and outdoors, including football, tennis, archery, swimming, art, drama, dance, indoor climbing, golf, volleyball, waterpolo, indoor caving and much more. The available activities will depend on the facilities at each centre. Our sports and activities sessions are usually three hours in length, normally include three sports and are run on-site. Our sports and activity staff have experience in coaching and holding coaching qualifications. All sessions are carefully planned, and designed to be both educational and enjoyable.

Manchester, Chetham’s School of Music

This city centre school is the largest specialist music school in the UK and is famous for being home to the oldest lending library in the world - Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels used to meet there often! The site offers a mix of modern facilities and accommodation set against a back drop of medieval architecture. Its position in the middle of the vibrant city of Manchester means that students have the opportunity to explore a wealth of attractions on their doorstep. Chetham's School of Music is to be found nestling between the Cathedral and opposite the Printworks with the popular Hard Rock Cafe. Famous for its industry, Manchester has been modernised over the past 20 years and has become one of Britain’s most important commercial and financial centres. It has a thriving cultural life, catering to its huge student population and Chetham’s often hosts events during the biannual Manchester International Festival in July.

Plymouth College

Plymouth College is one of the South West's leading independent schools and is based in the bustling historic maritime city of Plymouth. Its close proximity to Dartmoor National Park, magnificent countryside and the coastal landscapes of Devon and Cornwall make it the perfect destination for groups wanting to enjoy the beauty of the south coast. Plymouth is famous for its incredible naval history and the whole region is a popular tourist destination. The city itself attracts large numbers of visitors who are drawn to the Old Barbican district where they can stroll through streets that date from the sixteenth century and take tea in Elizabethan tearooms. The school itself is located in the city centre and has excellent sports facilities. Following the London 2012 Olympics, Plymouth College boasted two medallists – Tom Daley (bronze) and Ruta Meilutyte (gold) - amongst its current students!

Premium Courses in Chester Leadership & University Preparation This three-week residential course takes place at the University of Chester in July and August. It offers young students, aged 15-17 years, a unique opportunity to sample UK University life and develop the strong leadership, confidence, creativity and communicative skills essential for a UK University application and future global career success. The programme is designed by UKLC and delivered by our highly- experienced English Language teachers, in addition to our fully qualified sports and activity coaches. The course includes sessions led by Lecturers and Careers Advisors from the University of Chester, as well as guest speakers who are renowned experts in their fields. Classes comprise a variety of interactive workshops, tuition, debates and role-plays about a range of topics vital for academic and career success in the 21st century, combined with a balanced programme of sports, social activities and cultural excursions. Attending the course will help to raise studentsÂŤawareness of differences between the education systems in Britain and their own country, and bridge the culture gap.

English Friends A programme designed for students of English who would like a more language intensive experience during June & July. English friends join the overseas students for a minimum of 15 hours per week. Sometimes this will be within the structured format of the morning lessons. Other times it will be during the semi-structured framework of an organised activity - chosen especially for the opportunities for communication that type of activity offers - or during an excursion when communication is free flowing. Many lasting friendships are formed and the opportunity to practise English is extended during the year when the older students communicate with each other over social networking sites. The ratio of English friends to overseas students varies according to the activity and to the different friendship groups that form but is normally between 1:1 and 5:1. Great care is given to encourage even the more reserved overseas students to participate.

UK Schools Challenge UK Schools Challenge is a new innovative and educationally enhancing week long competition taking place in April 2015. UK Schools Challenge gives specially selected schools the opportunity to compete against other international schools for an annual award. The competition comprises of daily challenges designed to develop studentsÂŤ personal and professional skills. The challenges have been created with great emphasis on intellectual stimulation and aim to provide a strong connection between curriculum study subjects and the professional working world. Schools from all over the world are invited to apply to send a team to the UK to compete in the UK Schools Challenge between 12th-18th of April 2015 at our impressive Chester University campus. Each selected school will submit a team of minimum 10 and maximum 20 students aged between 14 and 17 years old. Alongside the onsite challenges, we will be asking schools to complete some preparation material before they arrive. This pre-arrival material will provide core elements of certain challenges throughout and will be integral to the overall competition. 35
