KdG HAS GREAT LINKS WITH THE PROFESSIONAL FIELD The University College has around 5,000 partners in the professional field, both national and abroad. This collaboration corresponds to a range of levels. As a university college, we believe that practical experience is the best way to learn something. That is why we make sure all of our students gain experience in the working world during their education. Our professors and lecturers regularly invite organisations and companies to share their experiences and visions with our students. Courses are also thoroughly evaluated every year. This way we ensure a close collaboraton with the professional field.
TAILOR-MADE EDUCATION At the beginning of the academic year, we notice huge differences in the level of knowledge students have acquired during their secondary education. Some students excel in mathematics while others are more communicative or developed better social skills. That is why we offer tailor-made education; a concept that increases the student’s chances of success. Our ambition is to offer a differentiated curriculum that is customised to each student and is both sufficiently supportive and challenging. This way high performing students as well as more challenged students can benefit from the same concept.
Why KdG? “Employers value our students. A KdG study equals quality.”

Together with our network of partners, we invest in international education projects. This is a key element in the KdG internationalisation strategy as projects create many international spin offs. Our projects are focussed on innovative educational practices and we strive for a maximum cooperation of actors within the professional field to ensure labour market relevance. Some of the project activities we engage in are: • intensive programmes • exchange programmes • joint and double degrees • professional development programmes • promotion of entrepreneurship • development of innovative teaching methodologies

APPLIED RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE CIRCULATION Applied research and knowledge circulation – together with education – make up the core task of the Karel de Grote University College. The aim of our applied research is to come up with concrete solutions for work field related problems in a scientific way and, by doing so, contribute to the improvement and innovation of the professional practice. Research results and acquired knowledge are shared with our external relations by means of contract research, training, coaching and consultancy. We carry out applied research projects and consultancy activities in all KdG´s fields of study. Additionally, we have set up five centres of expertise to strengthen our efforts in specific domains: • • • • •
sustainable mobility strength-based social work emotional well-being in patient care sustainable chemistry pedagogical support in day care and schools
We are open to expand our network and strengthen our research and consultancy activities through international cooperation with other higher education institutes, private partners or non-profit organizations.
