(Y)our role in the globalized economy The global village

The world is rapidly changing into a global village. Barriers between countries and continents disappear and goods and people are globally on the move. Companies and organizations are constantly challenged to adapt to this changing environment. Many businesses are already well established in this global market. They purchase and sell goods and services in many countries and continents. Others are more reluctant, but are forced to find their way to the global markets in order to stay competitive. This growing number of internationalized companies and organizations is constantly looking for excellent new staff. These mostly young people appreciate intercultural variety, are skilled in all aspects of international trade, fluent in several languages and ready to explore new routes.

This is where you come in.

You are reading this because the international business world fascinates you. Maybe you have already decided to be part of it. Picture yourself constantly interacting with clients and

colleagues around the globe, sending and receiving goods and services to and from everywhere, making new friends as you go. But of course, you want to be prepared. The Karel de Grote University-College (KdG)1 invites you to join the undergraduate programme Bachelor in Business Management – International Business (IBS). This programme, which is taught in English, introduces you into the fascinating reality of international business life. Just like all other bachelor programmes in KdG, IBS is highly focused on practice through exercises, cases and a 3-month internship while offering you the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in international trade. IBS is the result of many years of international cooperation and exchange. The majority of the teaching staff and a substantial degree of students fly in from all over the world to the city of Antwerp, a pleasant student city as well as the 2nd largest harbour in Europe. This makes IBS your first real international experience. We welcome you to join IBS to realise your personal international ambitions together. Werner Boumans, MA Programme Manager

Competent professionals

Forming students into competent professionals is the mission of each study programme at KdG UniversityCollege. You are competent as soon as you have the capacity to combine knowledge, skills and attitude in order to act successfully in various situations. Your competence shows, not only through your knowledge and skills, but certainly also from your personality and motivation.

Operational practice

Experienced international staff

All KdG local teaching staff has or has had a career in internationally active companies. Their classes and seminars are highly influenced by this experience. Fifteen years of exchange with universities all over Europe and beyond is reflected in IBS. Foreign experts deliver 60% of the courses, provide insight in the results of most recent research and sharpen your sensitivity to different ways of living and thinking.

Learning equals personal development

Next to substantial knowledge, you develop learning and selfmanagement skills which prepare you for life-long learning.
Our senior staff coaches your personal learning process towards full competence, for 3 years until you graduate.

Academic recognition

IBS complies with the quality requirements stated in the Bologna Process. IBS is subject to systematic quality audits from the NVAO (Accredition Organism of the Netherlands and the Flemish community).

KdG’s educational practice is closely related to everyday business life in a corporate environment. The many exercises and cases make you experience how the theoretical framework comes to life.

During company related projects and the 3-month internship in an internationally operating organization, you learn by doing and from the feedback of your mentors.
