IDENTITY’S EDITOR’S NOTE
eddings… every girl’s dream! Is it still the same? Attending weddings recently I have noticed a change to the norms; brides are more coolly dressed so to speak, the settings are more of a party than a wedding and a lot are catering more to the younger generations than the old. Beach weddings, morning weddings, informal weddings… etc. makes you wonder why bother in the first place! Sometimes I feel its like a match between friends to come up with the coolest wedding party more than fulfilling a dream of romance. It has become a newly acquired trend to come up with a wedding where everyone just has to say WOW!!!
I barely hear someone saying how nice to see the couple tie the knot or what a wonderful ending to a cute couple… or anything in that context. Its all about the dress, the arrangement, who’s wedding was nicer… blah blah blah! I want to go back in time where friends used to care for each other and want what’s best for them.

THE SILVER SIXPENCE
Tradition
Personally, I’m not really into our typical Egyptian wedding traditions; the Zaffa, the belly dancer, cutting the cake, the By: Sandra Rizk sharbat drinks, lelet @Sandra_Rizk el 7enna,… To me, all these traditions are boring and people are sick of them. But there is one English tradition that I love and thought I’d share with you guys: “Something old, something new, Something borrowed, something blue, And a silver sixpence in her shoe.” I always knew about this poem but never really got it, so I did a little research to know where the tradition came from. Turned out that it started in Britain in the Victorian era, where a sixpence was a coin made of silver and was worth 6 pennies. Each item in this poem represents a good-luck token for the bride. “Something old” symbolizes continuity with the bride’s family and the past. “Something new” means optimism and hope for the bride’s new life ahead. “Something borrowed” is usually an item from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride. The borrowed item also reminds the bride that she can depend on her friends and family. As for the colourful item, blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Christianity has long dressed the Virgin Mary in blue, so purity was associated with the colour. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular colour for wedding gowns, as evidenced in proverbs like, “Marry in blue, lover be true.”

And finally, a silver sixpence in the bride’s shoe represents wealth and financial security. It may date back to a Scottish custom of a groom putting a silver coin under his foot for good luck. For optimum fortune, the sixpence should be in the left shoe. These days, a dime or a copper penny is sometimes substituted, and many companies sell keepsake sixpences for weddings. So, how about we all forget our boring traditions for a while and try this one out?

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux One of the world’s favourite actresses is finally happy! We’ve been waiting for years to see Jen get her happy ending, and we think it will be pretty soon.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt This couple has been together for a long time now that some people already think they are married! We know the bride will look stunning in a wedding gown, but the question remains, will she get the leg out?
Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart So we know this couple is not engaged yet, but since there were a lot of rumours about baby plans within one year of them being together, we assume they will be getting married soon.
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson This couple already had their baby daughter, so we think it’s about time to tie the knot. Jessica has been heading to the gym a lot lately so we can’t wait to see that dress that flaunts her new sexy body!

IDENTITY’S WEDDING INVITES
Creative Wedding Invites INVITE YOUR GUESTS WITH STYLE By: Dalia El Shimi - Art director and owner at Dalia El Shimi design studio
WHEN WE RECEIVE A WEDDING INVITATION WE GET A FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE COUPLE’S TASTE AND STYLE, GIVING US A GLIMPSE OF WHAT THEY HAVE IN STORE FOR US THAT SPECIAL DAY. AND WHILE SOME BRIDES PREFER TO KEEP IT SIMPLE, MANY BRIDES ARE GRABBING HOLD OF SOME CREATIVE REINS AND SENDING OUT INVITATIONS WITH AN EXTRA SPICE. Although Some Couples have no clue what they want for design, all they know is the theme of the wedding and colors of the flower arrangement, but simply they want something creative. Creativity is great, but creating invites that are related to your characters, jobs, or relationship is much more meaningful. Make sure that when you send out your invites, people would understand them and see how the design and concept relate to you.
This camera lens invitation with pull out film strip was inspired by the profession of the groom( photography) with a design aligned with the wedding theme and colors combined in modern design
This accordion like invitation was the smallest invitation in history as the bride wanted a tiny invitation with unique colour scheme.
This invitation was designed as flip cards with fun artwork with Unconventional wedding invitation wording!
This one was fun to design, as the bride herself is an artist who has her own hand crafted products, so she wanted a funky design with her purple/silver rose as the wedding theme. Inspired by her crafty things the invitation was designed with a pop up rose that spread.
THE LAST TIP I HAVE FOR YOU, IS TO TAKE A RISK, DO SOMETHING FUN AND DARING, DON’T BE TRADITIONAL, AND AMAZE YOUR GUESTS WITH YOUR CREATIVITY THAT THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO KEEP THESE INVITES AS A SOUVENIR FOR YEARS. 16

IDENTITY’S TIPS
HOW TO PLAN YOUR FRIEND’S BACHELORETTE
Party By: Sandra Rizk
Decide on a theme Party themes always add a little spice; you can go with a 70’s disco theme, or a Sex and The City theme, the sky is the limit on how creative the theme can be. Just don’t forget to throw in a little naughtiness to your outfits that day.
Know your audience You must be really close to the bride-to-be to be planning her bachelorette, so you probably know her pretty well. And that’s a good thing. You need to throw her kind of party, or do the things she enjoys doing the most. Her bachelorette party should depend on whether she’s a quiet, shy person or a wild party animal, either way; make sure there is something daring and different that she doesn’t usually do on any other regular night.
LIST FOR THE BIG NIGHT
Create some memories Make sure you play some daring games or maybe some drinking games if any of you drink. If you don’t, you can always do shots of energy drink instead of alcohol. The goal of playing is to embarrass each other, especially the bride-to-be, so that you all would be happy to have something to reminisce but not relive. Shower the bride Why not have the bridal shower and the bachelorette party in one day? The bride’s friends could decide on a colour palette for the gifts; if you guys pick the colour pink for example, whatever the gift is, it has to be pink. Or you could all decide on getting her lingerie and intimate clothes, put them in a big box, and throw a list of your names.
Of course, no party would be complete without music, so also consider hiring a DJ for the evening, or arrange your own bachelorette party song list. Here are some of the most popular hits appropriate to any girls’ night out:
20
Ladies night- Kool and the Gang
Scream & shout- Will.I.Am fts. Brtiney Spears
I gotta feeling- Black Eyed Peas
Merrymaking at my place- Calvin Harris
Alors on dance- Stromae
Don’t stop the party- Black Eyed Peas
Champagne showers- LMFAO ft. Natalia Kills
On the floor- Jennifer Lopez
Drinking from the bottle- Calvin Harris ft. Tinie Tempah
Please don’t stop the music- Rihanna

SIMPLE STEPS TO FIT IN YOUR
WEDDING GOWN By: Sandra Rizk
A Grapefruit a day
Try to eat at least one grapefruit a day, no matter how bitter it is. According to researches and scientists, eating grapefruit as part of your daily routine make you lose more weight since it makes you feel less hungry. Cut down on your salt intake The normal average salt consumption is 9g a day; we just want you to cut it down to 3g. Try to get rid of your breakfast cereals and bread. If you’re a salt lover, you can always replace it with herb salt, a natural lower-salt alternative. Eat eggs We’re sure you’ve all already heard of the well-known egg diet, which is effective because eggs are high in protein and protein is a natural appetite suppressant. One research showed that if you eat two eggs at breakfast, you will end up eating 400 calories fewer throughout your day.
Beat the bloat Did you know that swallowing air is the action that causes bloating the most? Yeah, well, try to avoid swallowing air by eating slowly, get rid of fizzy drinks, and chewing gum.
Exercise regularly While getting rid of certain foods will make a noticeable difference to your skin, hair and overall figure, working out and exercising is definitely the key to lose any excess weight. If you don’t have time to go to a gym, there are a lot of training lessons on the internet that you could do at home. Just make sure to combine cardio (treadmill, jogging, etc.) with lifting free weight. Take Vitamins While you are trying to get as many sources of vitamins as possible from your diet, it’s always a good idea to keep your body wellsupplied with some additional supplements. We recommend Vitamin B, which will not only boost your energy levels while working out, but while planning your wedding as well. IDENTITY MAY 2013

The
Secrets to Finding Mr. Right By: Hoda M.Hosny
W
e all dream of living happily ever after and falling in love with our prince charming. Nobody wants to die alone! Embarking on such journey and the quest to finding our Mr. Right can prove to be a great challenge. Spending a lifetime with a person needs vigilant contemplation, it is a lifetime commitment, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death do you part.
22
will really make you happy?
There are no clear cut guidelines in picking your perfect match. In matters of the heart, nobody can tell you what is right and what is wrong. Nevertheless there are some aspects worthy of contemplation when choosing your mate.
It is not rocket science, never marry someone for the wrong reasons. We are living in a strongly opinionated society. Don’t let cultural and societal doctrines dictate what you want. Don’t succumb to their pressure into marrying just for the sake of not being an outcast. There is nothing wrong in taking your time and picking the right person for you and surely there is nothing wrong with being single till you find the ONE. Repeatedly we encounter people who stay with someone in an unhappy relationship predominantly out of some kind of fear which is generally of being alone. Being in such a relation is unfair to you both and preventing you from the happily ever after you deserve.
Most of us live our entire lives not knowing who we truly are; we get entangled in the vicious routine of life till we lose our own identity in the process. We stray so far that we lose sight of what really matters to us and what we actually want. The first step in finding the right partner should be finding YOU. Get to know yourself and what you want before asking what you want in your life partner. How can you choose a spouse when you don’t even know what
Don’t pick your partner based on what your parents, family and friends expect of you. You are your own person; pick your right fit. In the puzzle of life, you need to find the one person that fits perfectly. Choosing soundly is the pillar of a good marriage. Select well since at the end of the day the good and bad ramifications of your choice will shape your life. Make sure you are marrying the person you want to grow old and grey with, the person you want
IDENTITY MAY 2013
check, we will eventually have to compromise; always remember to do so on the trivial things such as hair color, height, etc… but never on any of the core issues. Make sure the balance between the positive and negative tilts favorably. Never compromise on your values, they make you who you are. Find someone you can be yourself with. Don’t be with someone that wants to change you. You are ENOUGH. You are amazing and the right person will fall for you just the way you are. Why be a copy of someone else when you can be your own original. Don’t get me wrong, if you feel you want to improve for the better, then go ahead, but if you are doing so because of someone, you will never be happy with who you have become. You will one day stand in front of the mirror and wonder where you have gone. Similarly don’t expect someone will change for you or that they will change once you live together, if you can’t accept the reality of each other; then walk away. Give yourself the chance to get to know one another better. It is very true that you only really know a person when you have both been under the same roof. Nevertheless since by then it will be too late, make sure to pay attention to the tiny details in the relationship. Look for the red flags and follow your gut feelings. Our intuitions are our compass in life guiding us through the storms of our thoughts and desires. Don’t just focus on the wedding dress and the extravagant festivities while losing sight of the marriage you are entering. People are always on their best behaviors for short periods of times. Every situation you face together shows you the real person hidden deep inside. Make sure not to ignore the signs and that whatever concerns your might have is addressed. If something looks or feels too good to be true, it generally is. Don’t fall in love with someone your intuition says you couldn’t build a satisfying and fulfilling life with. to spend your life journey accompanied by. Communication and respect are the keys to a successful and fruitful marriage. You need to be able to talk openly and honestly about anything and everything and still respect one another and your occasional different point of views in life. A great relation has emotional compatibility. How that person makes us feel as opposed to what the relationship looks like on paper is a balance which needs to be addressed. We don’t live our lives on paper… It is very important that you and your partner share common interest. It is amazing when you both enjoy each other’s company while having fun and doing the things you really love. You do not want to be a carbon copy of each other, it would just be too boring but having common grounds makes life worthwhile. Oftentimes having very different interests leads to one person sacrificing for the happiness of the other which consequently leads to problems and resentments. We all know that there is no such a thing as a perfect man or woman, everyone has their flaws. Don’t we all wish we could tailor make our partner but reality
Have fun, live your life, the less pressure you place on yourself, the happier you will be with who you are and the more at ease you will become thus creating a space to attract the right kind of people to you. Sometimes it just takes seeing so much of what we don’t want to figure out what we really want in the end. Keep in mind that everyone is searching for their “ideal partner” too and if you search long enough you will find each other. Here is a peace of wisdom just for you. It can be summed up as one of my friends once wrote:” A breakup is easier than taking a ring off, taking a ring off is easier than divorce and breaking a marriage is easier than divorce with no kids. Divorce with no kids is definitely easier than divorce with kids and divorce with kids is surely better than staying in a marriage miserably to keep a family together.” By Rana Saleh. Go out, meet new people, explore the horizon, and don’t search for love. When the time comes and your heart is open to it, it will just hit you like thunder. And believe me when I tell you that Someday, someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else… till then just have faith and follow your heart… IDENTITY MAY 2013

THE
IN WALKING AWAY… By: Sandra Issa

IDENTITY MAY 2013
I
n this life I have learnt that we are the masters of our thoughts. Yes we are, think of it. How many times do we face a problem which we cannot solve and thus decide to surrender to the negativity it surrounds us with? How many times do we get heartbroken and let the feelings of vulnerability consume us? And oh, how many times do we get walked all over by those whom we thought would never stab us in the back? The disappointment we feel and the insecurities we face after being attacked whether emotionally or physically by those whom we love or who are closest to us is extremely painful; but it is totally up to you in the end to either give in to your negative feelings or to just walk away and call it a lesson learnt.
wanting to be part of your life anymore. Some people come into our lives to add to it while others just come to take away. At the end of the day you are only better by being mature about it and dealing with the whole fall out with grace. Calling names and yelling will only make the situation more critical and worse than what it is already. Just let them be, and only hope for someone else to walk into your life to make up for your loss. Keep the dirty laundry: The best thing in life is having someone you can totally count on to catch you when you fall, someone whom you can share your endless secrets with, gossip about this and that with without having to worry that this information will be shared. The worst thing that may come with all that is the fact that you might both have invisible knives behind each others backs. You can do the stabbing whenever wherever but it mostly happens when you both fall out of love and stop caring for one another. Don’t be one of these people who
“Don’t be one of these people who ends up leading a sad life, and who walks around showing off the dirty laundry...” Set your pride aside: When we face tough times with people we love the most, because our expectations are as high as the sky, we often do get let down for not getting the reaction or response we had in mind. That doesn’t mean the other person doesn’t care as much or has lost interest in the reason why you should stay in their lives; on the contrary, they simply could be hurting just like you if not even a little bit more. Set your pride aside and take the first step in trying to make amends. And if your pride is itching like crazy, put a stop to it with the thoughts of you being the bigger and better person in this messy situation. Get to the core: You can’t always be the victim even if you wanted to. So before going around being all angry and bitter try to understand the reasons behind the fall out you had with that person. If you are lucky enough to get an explanation for their actions and what led them to hurt you, you can come out of it more of a winner than a sore heartbroken loser. You might end up learning more about yourself through their eyes, and maybe figure out traits that could be easily fixed and better handled in another situation that may encounter you in the future. Anger Management: This is something that we all go through when we lose a battle, anger and resentment. Nothing makes you look uglier than being absolutely angry towards someone just for the sake of them not being or
ends up leading a sad life, and who walks around showing off the dirty laundry you have on your friend/enemy, in other words don’t be a tool, this world is a funny one and there is a chance you two might cross paths again and mend the friendship/ relationship that once was. You had me at hello: How defeating is it to have someone so close to you let that be a friend, lover, relative or a neighbour and just because you are no longer walking the same path, you avoid any eye contact or hellos? When you walk into a place and see that once upon a time friend, there is no harm in throwing out a hello or even a hand wave. You have no idea how much respect you will receive. Even if you don’t get waved back at, you are in a much better position where you will never wonder what if and you will know that the winner out of all this is YOU. At the end of the day people will walk in and out of your life like flies do on a summer night, so the best way to deal with such situations is to accept the fact that they are gone, with very limited chances of ever coming back. If they didn’t fight for you as much as you wished them to, then there is no point in shedding a tear or even feeling lost over the loss of someone important. You weren’t that important to them to begin with. Cherish the good times, the golden memories and walk away. Life has so much more to offer, embrace the falls, get up and get going again and again and again. IDENTITY MAY 2013

The Diary Of
A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS:
Episode 5
MY NAME IS RONZIE. I’M AN ORDINARY EGYPTIAN GIRL IN MY TWENTIES, BUT MY LIFE IS FAR FROM ORDINARY. I’M JUST TRYING TO BE HAPPY, BUT ALL I EVER DO IS GET INTO MORE AND MORE TROUBLE. ALL I EVER WANTED WAS TO LIVE A HAPPY NORMAL LIFE, WORK IN A DECENT JOB, AND MEET MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR, AND WHAT I GOT WAS A REAL LIFE DRAMA MOVIE. MY LIFE IS A SERIES OF ADVENTURES THAT I WILL SHARE WITH YOU...
A
“Enthused”
fter breaking off things with Kiko, and taking a little social break, I started talking to an old acquaintance Moe, a professional photographer, and we became good friends. To get me out of my mood he suggested that I would join him on his shoots, promising to teach me all I need to learn about photography. I got very psyched about the idea, and decided to give it a try. I had coffee with Moe one day, and he explained to me how things would work. He was a very interesting person, passionate about life and work, a true artist. His mind overflowed with creative ideas, I was amazed. He told me that there is an upcoming shoot, and I got overly excited about it. I was a little tense, not sure what to expect, but I was enthused about attending a photoshoot. The days passed and the day of the shoot was finally here. I woke up early from excitement to start the day. I tried on pretty much everything in my wardrobe, obsessing about my looks. I wanted to look artsy to fit in the shoot, adding a touch of femininity and sexiness. I remembered shoots I saw on TV, movies, and magazines, and tried to picture myself there. I decided to wear a skirt and high heels. I looked in the mirror adding final touches, thinking to myself that I got the perfect look, smiling back at myself, happy with the end result. Moe called, he was downstairs. I rushed down, waiting to see the look on his face when he sees me, his new sexy assistant. As I walked to the car Moe’s face stood still, gazing at me, then a big smile appeared on his face. “Perfect” I thought to myself. I got into the car with extreme confidence, but Moe’s smile turned into a laugh. I was confused, was there something wrong with my outfit? “What are you laughing about?” I asked Moe, he blurted out in the mid of chuckles “You”. I started getting offended, and my face heated up, why was he laughing? I couldn’t get it. Finally noticing that he offended me Moe stopped himself, unable to wipe off the silly smile on his face “I’m sorry, its partially my fault, I didn’t tell you where the shoot is.” “Where is it?” I asked, trying to gather my shattered confidence.
By: Anonymous
“Old Cairo, have you ever been there?” He asked me. I shook my head, I’ve never been there before, I had no clue what it was like, and what I should wear. Moe realized I was really clueless, and explained to me what its like there and told me to go change into conservative and comfortable clothes and shoes. I rushed back up, did a quick change, with a bit of a ruined mood; I wanted to make a good impression, not a total ass of myself. I felt foolish and started getting intimidated by the whole idea, I had no clue what I’m getting into and whats expected from me. I got back into the car with Moe, dressed as advised, with only a complimentary smile on my face. “Better?” I asked, “Much better” he replied. “Im sorry I laughed at you like I did, it really wasn’t your fault, I should’ve told you earlier where we’re going”. “It’s alright” I replied. “For what it’s worth, you looked really sexy... pretty I mean. You still do. The models will be jealous” he added as he drove off. I smiled, restoring back my confidence, and glad to have grabbed his attention. I started to loosen up and get back into the excitement of the shoot. We met with the rest of the team. They were all nice, confident, with a careless artsy attitude. I was intimidated, not sure if I fit with them. I planned to stick with Moe the whole time, but he was Mr. Big Shot, busy doing this, and busy doing that. He asked me to help him a few times, hand him stuff, but he was too into the shoot that he didn’t attempt to teach me anything. The stylist started chatting with me, and properly introduced me to the models. I thought they were fake nice, but they really turned out to be nice. We clicked like we’ve known each other for ages. Though I was having fun I was feeling a little useless. It seemed like Moe didn’t really need my help in anything, he already had some sort of male assistant that carried all the heavy equipment around, and did the hard work. As for me, I was only occasionally handing him accessories. I wasn’t learning anything, I wasn’t really helpful, I was simply hanging out. What was my use there?

IDENTITY MARWA ANSWERS
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY...
D
By: Marwa Rakha Relationship Expert
ear Marwa, I’ve been wanting to write to you for a long time, but was too embarrassed to write. My problem started when I got married. I realized my husband thinks that his role in a marriage is only to provide money nothing else. He refuses to take responsibility of anything else, not the kids, house or anything that doesn’t concern his work. I tried my best, sometimes by discussing sometimes by fighting, but in vain. When I complain to my parents or my friends, they simply tell me that it’s normal, since he is providing money and your needs as well as your children, you shouldn’t be complaining. I stopped complaining or discussing anything with him or with anyone to avoid fighting. But now, I feel tired, stressed and a lot of self-pity. I believe that is not what marriage is supposed to be. Be honest and tell me, am I being spoilt and don’t want to take responsibility as well? Dear Anonymous,

QUICK FIXES FOR WEDDING DAY BEAUTY EMERGENCIES By: Sara Sami - Makeup Artist
On your wedding, you want everything to be perfect. Be it the decorations at the venue, the catering, transportation or anything else. Most importantly you want your dress, makeup, hair, footwear and jewellery to be nothing less than impeccable. However, things can go wrong. Here are 5 wedding day beauty emergencies and their quick fixes.

1
A zit
If you see a pimple on your big day, don’t panic. Keep the area cool by applying ice. Coolness subdues the bacteria in the pimple. Apply a thick paste of cloves and cinnamon. During makeup, avoid applying oily foundation on the spot. Use an oil-free concealer to camouflage the difference in skin tone around the affected area.
Puffy eyes
A simple remedy is to use frozen teaspoons on the lids. Put two teaspoons in the freezer for around half an hour. Place them on the eyes such that the concave part touches the eyes. Repeat a few times until the puffiness recedes. You could also try placing icepacks, frozen cucumber slices and warm teabags.
Smudged eye makeup
Weddings make you emotional and you might find your eyes welling up. A few tears might run down your cheeks and along with them, your mascara and kohl. The only preventive measure for this problem is to use waterproof kohl, eyeliner and mascara. Do not compromise on this matter.
Chipped or ruined nails
Chipped nails are very common during weddings. Keep a nail file, nail polish and nail polish remover handy. Use them to smoothen chipped nails and reapply a coat of polish.
3
Dark circles
Again, lack of sleep is the main culprit here. You can avoid most of the beauty emergencies by not compromising on your sleep. However, if the problem is unavoidable, make sure that you apply a cooling pack for the eyes before you sleep the previous night. Wash off and apply moisturiser before sleeping. Use a good quality concealer to even the skin tone.
Everyone gets nervous on their wedding day because somewhere in the back of their mind they know that things can go wrong at the last moment. The only way to counter the anxiety and be confident is to be prepared for these unexpected incidents.
HONEYMOON MAKEUP CHECKLIST Whether you’re relaxing on the beach with a book, shopping in Paris or even taking pictures at touristy hotspots… you gotta look your best during your honeymoon. To make sure that you’re prepped up for this special time of your life, we have just the right checklist for you!
PACK SMART! 1. Eyeshadows
You think you’ll need ALL your makeup on your one week get away but in most cases that is far from reality. Pack smart on your honeymoon by only keeping makeup that you will actually USE. Instead of brining individual eyeshadows, pick a neutral palette that has shades you can wear everyday as well as some shimmery shades, which you can wear in the evenings. Shimmery shadows look great, especially on a tan. Always travel with palettes!
2. Sun Safety
Sunblock is one of the – if not THE, most important beauty product you should be packing. Sun damage is the #1 cause of premature aging, wrinkles and fine lines. Protect the skin you’re in! Recommended Product:
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion.
3. It’s All About the Base
The kind of foundation texture you take depends a lot on the destination. For warm to hot weather you would need something that has SPF, is longlasting and still natural enough to wear in tropical weather. You don’t want to have an overdone face on a resort. When going on a honeymoon, chances are you’re going to get tanned. So be prepared and bring along a slightly bronzy foundation to match your new skin tone on your trip to avoid the “grey skin syndrome”.
Recommended Products:
Soleil Tan De Chanel – the BEST bronzing base.
MAC Pro Long Wear Foundation & Concealer – An excellent longwearing foundation & concealer that has a natural finish.
4. Mascara is a Must
Many women don’t realize how important mascara is. It’s what allows lashes to appear longer, thicker and defines the eye. Thick, long lashes give femininity and flirtiness to the eye and the face, overall. For a long-wearing mascara, always go for the waterproof version. A must pack beauty item. Recommended Product: Lancôme Hypnoses,
5. Hints of Color
You don’t really need too much color on your face when you’re on a honeymoon. One bronzer and one blush are more then enough to last you for your trip. Go for a soft pink or a neutral tone blush that will match any look you decide to go for. Recommended Products Guerlain Terracotta Blush
Mac Mineralized Blushes in Dainty or Warm Soul
6. Long Lasting Lips
You will need lipstick with maximum staying-on power- putting on a new coat of lipstick every half an hour will get annoying. On this trip you will need a product that will last for hours and does not suck the moisture from your lips. Recommended Product
MAC Pro Longwear Lip Crème – feather light and will last for 10 hours.
7. Makeup Remover
Makeup Remover is something you don’t want to forget to pack. You don’t want to scrub your face with complimentary hotel soaps to remove your makeup at the end of your day. Recommended Product
Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes. Love these as the sheets are thick, durable, doesn’t irritate the skin and smells great.

If he/she is a best friend
If the bride is your best friend, then you are the closest to her right after her sister. Or maybe she doesn’t even have a sister and she thinks of you as one. Therefore you also need to make some effort in looking stunning for her wedding; you don’t necessarily need to be wearing something shiny or embellished, but at least go for a maxi gown.
If he/she is a sibling
Don’t hesitate to pay a little bit more than you can afford, it’s your sister’s wedding and if you don’t look absolutely glamorous that night then when will you? Go for a maxi dress that could be either embellished or simple yet very elegant; the important thing is that you should be the second in line when stealing people’s attention, after the bride of course.

WHAT TO WEAR ACCORDING TO your
Style
THE ROYAL BRIDE:
Why not live and feel like royalty for just one day? It is YOUR day; choose to be whoever, live the moment, and be the centre of attention.
By: Sherine Abdel-Moniem
Make up: You need to look elegant, so do not exaggerate with your eye make up, and definitely do not wear colourful lipstick. Simply go light!
Hair: Pull your hair up and wear a simple yet catchy head tiara.
The Bouquet: It does not have to be big, yet it should drape down and blend with your dress.
The Dress: If you seek a royal look then aim for a BIG dress and of course a long veil. You do not want your dress to be revealing, yet you still want to look feminine and sexy; lace will solve your problem.
Setting: Your guests need to be seated on well-decorated round tables. White should be the main colour used for decoration. A long aisle is mandatory; make everyone stare at your beautiful dress as you walk down the aisle. A couple of violins and a fancy dinner will make your night complete. Finally, enjoy the attention and act like royalty; make all the guests believe you are one.
THE PARTY ANIMAL:
If you are a party person, and all what you want to do at your big day is dance till dawn, then do not be traditional.
Hair: If it is a long one then pull it back in a way that will not make you worry about it. However, if it is short then add a small but glittery bridal headpiece and do not wear a veil. Makeup: Go waterproof with black eyeliner, long fake eyelashes, and a funky colorful lipstick.
36
IDENTITY MAY 2013
Setting: Let the dance floor take the largest space of the wedding hall. Light it and decorate it as much as you can. Make it the focal point of your wedding so that everyone will want to get up and dance. Do not put couches because this will make people sit and relax; just put a couple of high seated tables and a creative large bar with cocktails that will make everyone engaged in the fun party mood you are setting. If you are this type of bride, invite as many as you can of your young and fun friends to enjoy a night that you will never forget. Last but not least, spend more money on the DJ; he will be your hero of the night!
The Dress: Wear a short wedding dress that will not prevent your movement, add a bit of fashion to it to make it look special, and wear a pair of those glittery and comfy converse shoes. By this I guarantee you will be free like a butterfly.
THE ROMANTIC BRIDE:
If you are the romantic type then all what you want is a subtle unforgettable setting, and only the close ones from family and friends to attend. You do not want it big, so that you can enjoy each and every romantic moment of your The Dress: Wear special day. a simple princess look dress that is not very big. You are not aiming to look sexy as much as you are aiming to look beautiful, so a long flowing dress with a small tale would achieve the goal.
Hair: You are free to choose whether to pull you hair into a bun or leave it loose as long as you keep it simple. Wear a small cute veil to add to your beauty. Makeup: go light, pink, and shimmery with your makeup. Also, do not use matt lipstick, but a pink lipgloss will be a better choice. Do not over do it; just keep everything subtle.
Setting: What is more romantic than having your wedding at noon till sunset on a sandy beach? Put as many white and pink flowers as you can, and candles so that when the sun sets, you maintain the romantic mood you are aiming for. Also, hang white see-through curtains that will fly with the wind giving you a dreamy and heavenly setting. Simply be yourself and live the moment. Do not leave your groom, be close to him, and enjoy every second of that day.
The Bouquet: Make a bouquet of pink tulips, these are the most romantic type of flowers and will definitely complement your makeup.
The bohemian bride:
Nature is all what a bohemian bride needs. She should show her natural beauty as much as nature is beautiful. The Dress: A loose dress is all what you need. You do not really need to be traditional and wear a white dress; you can choose to wear an ivory or an off-white coloured dress. Put on a pair of gladiators and show your personality. Makeup: Because your aim is to look natural, use an earth and nude colour palettes for your makeup. Hair: Leave your hair naturally as it is and choose the prettiest flowers and wear them as a headband. It is better to have long hair. If you wish to wear a veil, you can tie the veil like a band around your forehead.
The Bouquet: Here you can make a combination of all the colours you like. Put them together randomly as if you just picked them from the garden.
Setting: Of course, a garden full of trees and colourful flowers would be the perfect setting for a bohemian bride. Use the same colors of the bouquet for the guests’ tables. Be colorful! For entertainment, choose with your groom a band that plays your favourite music, and enjoy an unforgettable day in the middle of greenery and the breeze of a great weather. Do not forget that your smile is the most important thing. IDENTITY MAY 2013

TRENDS
A Return to Formality
It’s living the sophistication for a night to remember. Even if it is an outdoor event there’s crystal on the table, and gold silverware and chargers. Black tie and full-length gowns are certainly a must to complement the trend.
Neutral Colour Palettes
Layers of blush will be big. Candles always have a major presence at weddings, but this year, look for them in show stopping chandeliers.
Eye-Popping Cakes
The cake style that dominates right now is clean and modern with just one amazing pop of embellishment such as a bow, monogram or flower. The other major look takes the opposite track, using eye-popping color or all-over appliqués. And finally, a traditional idea has come around again: Brides are loving cakes that mimic wedding-dress details like lace.
A Customized Music Experience
The demand is on electronic dance music, then Bruno Mars, Mumford & Sons, sexy Brazilian house. And don’t be surprised if you see live musicians that play along with the DJ. You can also have a percussionist and the DJ together -- like having live music embroider the DJ’s 1,000-song playlist.

IDENTITY’S WEDDING PLANNING
WHY YOU NEED A WEDDING
A
Planner
By: Noha Shaher Co-owner of
t the onset, wedding planning sounds simple. In reality, it can be very timeconsuming and stressful. Ultimately, you have to decide how much your time is worth and whether or not you have the experience and communication skills necessary to plan this event. Unfortunately, many people cannot understand why hire a wedding planner, believing their job is simply to beautify. And while that is a minor element, a planner job is much more vital! Having one present, can be the difference between an A-class event and day of mishaps and countless “oops’.”
Perfection is every bride’s target in their wedding day and to reach that without an expert would require lots of stress and loss of enjoyment, as well as you won’t be focusing on one another the way you should be. Wedding planner’s mission differs from one to another some need to be hired the minute your engagement party is over as they don’t only take care of your wedding details and plan but they create an entire experience out of it and open gates of amazing expectations. Some wedding planners just stick to the basics and act as a day of coordinator which is perfect when done accurately.
Bride No 1 best friend… The wedding planner. Many people look at hiring a wedding planner for their big day as an added and unnecessary expense. Well the reality is far from unnecessary!!! Here are some reasons you should hire a professional wedding planner:
•You want your family and friends to enjoy the day with you. Often your friends and family will volunteer to help you with the planning process and with the day of duties, but they often don’t have the experience and they don’t have vendor relationships. On the big day, you want your friends and family to be enjoying their time with you and not working away. In contrary a planner’s job is to make sure your day is perfect so you can remain happy and stress-free. 40
IDENTITY MAY 2013
•Venue site managers work for the site and not for you
Some couples think they don’t need a planner because the venue has a site manager, but actually the site manager is employed by the venue and that is their main priority. They are there to make sure the service runs smoothly. They do not know all of the details of your design .You need someone who is acting on your behalf, making decisions for you and coordinating your vendors so you don’t have to.
•You have a design vision or you don’t
Whether you know exactly what you want or you have no idea, a planner can help you either bring your dream to life or cull all of your ideas into one singular design theme.
•You would like a happy and stress-free wedding day
Things go wrong on wedding days, people get lost or show up late, things don’t get set-up where they are supposed to. Many times a couple will never even know anything was amiss on their day and that’s because a planner has solved the problem before anyone even realized something had gone wrong. A planner looks out for your needs and is constantly making sure that everyone is where they should be and things are running according to schedule.

IDENTITY’S WEDDING PLANNING
THINGS YOUR WEDDING PLANNER DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW! By: Ingy Mounir - Professional Event Planner
While planning an important event such as your wedding day, you put all your effort to make this day the fairy-tale you always dreamed of; but that doesn’t mean you have to spend all your money and exceed your budget. So here are some tips on planning the perfect wedding without going bankrupt!
2
The Date: Picking a date for your wedding is extremely important; try to avoid the weddings high season as much as you can. The date is an important factor to minimize cost and will affect the overall budget of your wedding. The rates are very high plus the availability of DJs, photographers, venues, etc. are very limited, which will also be very stressful for the bride. Not to forget the fact that it is a small community we live in, and that your guests might also have another important wedding at the same day when it’s high season. That will make it hard for them to enjoy your wedding the way you would want them to.

How to cut cost: Size of the wedding: First, you can start by limiting your guest list; small weddings don’t just save money, but also give the bride and groom a chance to enjoy their big day with close friends and people they actually care about rather than spending hours greeting hundreds of people that don’t really matter to them that much. Note that the number of guests is very important when it comes to saving money.
3
Avoid outdoor weddings: Ballrooms have a controllable entrance and they already offer some of the wedding furniture you need such as chairs, dining tables and stages. Not to mention the importance of lighting that day; you will have to double the lights if the wedding is outdoors. Another positive thing about having an indoor wedding is getting a package from the hotel that includes free catering and a bridal suite, while approximately 70% of the outdoor venues (not in hotels) will force you to rent a limousine, book a bridal suite, pay to take portrait pictures, etc.
4
Luxurious items: Don’t even think of all the luxurious props, furniture and ideas until you are absolutely done with the basic stuff you need for this day like elevations (when some furniture are on a higher level), napkin rings, giveaways, fireworks, special effects, and ceiling decoration (You should start with dangling decoration on the dance floor ceiling only until you finalize the whole package).
THINGS THAT IMPRESS PEOPLE EASILY AT WEDDINGS! A MASTERPIECE: You should use one or two masterpiece items in your setup; a theme for the wedding, creative designs for the lounges, or an incredible entrance setup. Anything that will be unforgettable to the guests will make it a good wedding. GOOD LIGHTING: Lighting is one of the most important things you need to beautify the whole entourage of the ballroom. It emphasizes and highlights every little detail and props and make them look even better. NO CHILDREN: They will be running on the dance floor, playing, screaming, and trust me, you will not want to see all this in your wedding video.
THE LAST TIP I HAVE FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING A MAGICAL ONE, IS THAT IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND; IT’S A MATTER OF YOUR TASTE.
DJ & PHOTOGRAPHER: The couple should hire a DJ and a photographer who they really trust their taste and have seen or heard their work before. They are both the backbone of your big day; if people couldn’t dance to the music or there were no good pictures for people to enjoy after the wedding, then you’re doomed! IDENTITY MAY 2013

IDENTITY MAY 2013
TYPICAL BRIDE We like to call this look “Sweet Violet where you look sexy, yet natural. All traditional brides prefer this look on their wedding day. Mix different shades of violet eye shadows, use long fake lashes, and add nice long black eyeliner to keep all the attention and focus on your eyes. Use a natural nude lipstick, with a bronzed skin tone mixed with a peachy blusher on your cheeks. Since all types of hair braids are trending this season, we recommend you to do a French braid that ends on one side. Add some small flowers to the braid to complete your look.

BEACH BRIDE If you’re having your wedding somewhere on a beach, then keep it as simple as possible when it comes to your look. For your makeup stick to one skin tone that is either peachy or coral. Since it is probably a morning event, avoid multi layers of foundation in order to look healthy and natural, with a touch of pinkish lipstick to complete this natural look. We don’t recommend you to use eye lashes or eyeliner at all, just emphasize the eyes with some dark eye shadow to highlight the shape of the eyes, along with white kohl. Go with a natural hair style, either wavy or straight, depends on what suits your face more. You can always add some cute small braids to it, and a flower crown, to avoid having your hair all over you face if it gets a bit windy. 46

IDENTITY MAY 2013
VINTAGE BRIDE As you all know, the vintage look is all about the long liquid eye liner. Stick to the banana look, which was a name used in the 50s and 60s, where you highlight the upper bone of your eye lid and define your eyebrows. We don’t recommend the bride to wear red lipstick on her wedding day, so replace it with a peachy reddish colour instead since this lipstick colour is also trending this year. Do a big 50s chignon and use a bird cage to give a vintage feeling, but try to add a modern vibe to it, so add a couple of big braids to your chignon to have the perfect look. IDENTITY MAY 2013
49
ROYAL BRIDE Royal brides always concentrate on having their eyes the almond shape, which is the perfect shape of an eye. Shade off black eye shadow on your eye lids, use some below your eyes, and link it to long black eyeliner. Use pink blush and nude lips to show simplicity and beauty. Have your hair up in a big chignon, and use a long beautiful veil to make you feel like a real princess. 50

Soraya Shawky:
Because on this day you should look radiant and natural, Soraya Shawky uses minimal makeup to enhance your natural beauty and make you look like yourself. During her study of Make-up artistry in Spain, she learned that this is not the day for any bride to look sexy or provocative. The makeup needs to compliment your white dress and for that reason she uses all kinds of techniques to apply long lasting make up that keeps you looking young and pure. Prior to the wedding, you schedule a trial that allows you to meet with her, get to know each other and discuss makeup and hair ideas in order to find peace of mind on the big day. Brides will receive a full skin care routine and a nutrition program that you must follow along with some do’s and don’ts that help you maintain a great figure, have radiant skin and a healthy body.
Guliano Azme:
From the strangest to the most beautiful makeup,he can draw whatever you want. This talented makeup artist has the ability to transform women into model-like beauties. With careful application of cosmetics, guliano azme knows well how to satisfy his clients by giving the perfect pout just by using the tools of his trade. Guliano works with everyday women charging for make-overs for special occasions and weddings. The 26 year old man, has been working as a makeup artist since he was a teenager which made him quickly establish the reputation to become an incredible stylist.
Sara Boulos:
Bridal make up should reflect your personality and the beauty inside you in the simplest way. The makeup should last all day to go through all the hugging, and kissing, this is why she uses waterproof mascara for the happy tears, and the lipstick should be kiss proof as well. Every bride has a different background and lifestyle, and her goal is to reflect her personality in her makeup as she usually focuses on her natural beauty to show the bride’s good sides and accentuate them. The artist is always working on bringing the best in the lady’s inner and outer beauty. That’s why it’s a very exciting challenge for Sara as she takes part of the biggest night of a bride’s life and add the polish to her face to make her feel like the princess she ought to be.
Mai Ayman:
Mai has always been fascinated by the idea of capturing the essence of pure beauty and using it as a beautifying tool. It has become her utmost passion to explore the countless ways of unleashing inner beauty in the simplest and most natural ways. She developed such an interest at a very young age which helped her understand her clients. Taking a course taught by Mr. Mohamed Abdelhamid, also helped her master the art of differentiating every beauty tip depending on every face, skin type, and not to mention persona. She would like to channel every person’s inner beauty through her makeup and as she always says, it’s not about what makeup you wear, it’s all about how you wear it.

EVENING WEAR DESIGNERS & STORES : Sama Eissa:
“sama” spring/ summer 2013 capsule collection is a ready to wear line particularly distinguished for being vintage from a bygone era, like old Hollywood glamour. We believe it stands out for paying extra attention for details and body proportions. The young designer dedicates a lot of effort into the comfort of the fabric, because she believes that when one feels the softness of the satin on their skin, one would feel comfortable and feminine at the same time. She designs a dress to make a lady turn heads when she enters a room for flaunting her figure without compensating the ultimate comfort. 54

IDENTITY’S AY KALAM
Things I hate about Egyptian weddings By: Sandra Rizk
Bridesmaids’ dresses
We know it’s your wedding day and all the attention should head to you and all, but does that mean you have to pick your closest friends and relatives and make them look hideous? I mean these are the people you love the most! Why would you want them to look that awful??? You’re getting married khalas, so let them find someone too ba2a!
Throwing the Bouquet
Like being single is not hard enough! I have to let everyone know I am alone, unhappy, and desperate to get married that I am willing to kick some girls’ asses to catch a bouquet that probably still won’t help me find a guy! Yeah, that’s not sad at all…
Cutting the cake
The Multi pre-wedding celebrations
Here’s how weddings are now. The guy proposes. The girl says yes. They go out with their friends on an “outing” to celebrate! The parents meet. The couple exchanges rings. They go out with their friends on an “outing” to celebrate. The couple decides on a date for the engagement. They invite their friends to celebrate. The girl has a bachelorette party to celebrate. The guys throw the groom a bachelor party to celebrate. The girl has a 7enna (Aiwa it’s so different from bachelorette parties!). The girl goes on a trip with her friends to celebrate. The couple yektebo ketabhom. They go out on an “outing” with their friends to celebrate. Finally, they have their wedding ceremony. W yarab ma7ad yero7loko ba2a!
Over expensive Weddings
Yes, we are aware that it’s your big night and you want it to be perfect, but that doesn’t mean you should go bankrupt, after all it’s only one night! Mesh lazem aghla 7aga fi kol 7aga to impress people. Keep it simple w mesh lazem e7das. IDENTITY MAY 2013

One awesome aspect of honeymoons, that you may not have considered yet, is They generally involve a lot of free time, so you can sit and primp and preen yourself to unprecedented levels of prettiness. Here are 3 easy, sexy hair and makeup ideas that I think your new husband might love even more than your wedding look. 1. Bright lips that clash with a bright dress, as seen on Karolina Kurkova. This is especially appropriate if you’re going somewhere tropical. You’ll look stunning and festive, even if your hair’s frizzy or windblown mess (as it should be, from all those adventurous daytime--and evening--romps!). 2. A messy side braid and dangly earrings, as seen on Diane Kruger.
Why is there a cake uslan?? Is it anyone’s birthday? And why do we have to feed each other? With our arms crossed and shit? And everyone watching us as if there is anything interesting happening? What is that?

EASY, SEXY HAIR AND MAKEUP IDEAS FOR YOUR HONEYMOON
This is super easy to throw together for a romantic dinner out with the new hub, and it’s probably not a look he’s seen you in before. Gotta mix things up for all those photos, too, right? Great excuse to buy some souvenir earrings, too. 3. Messy updo, cute flower, shimmery eye makeup, as seen on Vanessa Hudgens. You could grab a real flower somewhere and pin it in, or bring your own cute flower barrette. Vanessa actually had one on each side of her head, but doing just one over one ear is generally the way to go. As for the eyes, just draw a very thin line of brightcolored eyeliner close to your lash line for some unexpected pop. Maybe you wouldn’t do this at home, but traveling might just make you in the mood to experiment.
