From a field of six architectural firms, the Northampton Area School Board settled on a possible four to choose from on Monday night. The directors had viewed the proposals earlier from those four, and on Monday their consensus of opinions were tabulated as they were rated. Three finalists were chosen – Architectural First of Bethlehem; Breslin, of Allentown, and KCBA, of Hatfield. All three will be interviewed publicly on Monday, Jan. 16, starting at 6 p.m. in the middle school cafeterias. Each of the firms will be allotted 15 to 50 minutes for their presentations, doing it alphabetically.

The public is welcome to listen to the interviews, but not to participate with any comments. It is possible that one of these will be chosen and announced at the Jan. 23 meeting of the school board. From there, the architect that is selected will begin designs for the new middle school that the Northampton Area School District is expected to build on the site of the former Northampton Branch of the Bethlehem Vocational – Technical School.
