10 Tips to a Great Wedding Reception Your wedding day will pass by so quickly. You want to be able to enjoy every moment of it. Here are ten tips to make sure you and your guests get the most out of your reception.
1. Plan like crazy during the months prior to your
wedding, but on the wedding day, let everything go. It is so easy to get caught up on all the details of your wedding reception, but when the big day arrives, there is very little you can do as events unfold. Don’t get upset over little things like the cake knife getting lost, or a flower falling out of your bouquet. You will waste precious time fretting over little details that no one else will notice.
2. Don’t make your guests wait. We provide our clients with a timeline of the wedding day from the moment they start getting ready through the exit from the reception. We tell everyone that the time prior to the start of dinner is firm. We don’t want anyone running late, because the guests will be left standing around doing nothing. In particular, make sure your ceremony starts on time and that the photographer doesn’t take longer than the cocktail hour to complete your photos.Your reception doors should open up between forty-five minutes and an
hour after your cocktail hour begins. If the guests are left waiting much longer than that, they will get restless.
3. Don’t plan too many events during the reception. Most wedding receptions have traditional events that must take place, the entrance, first dance, parent dance, toasts, cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss and exit. Do not add too many other events that will interrupt dance time. 4. Make some music selections and give that information to your band or DJ, but don’t try and program the entire event. A professional entertainer will be able to read the crowd and adjust the music to keep people dancing. If you tie their hands with too many song requests, the energy of the evening may suffer. 5. Have proper lighting. If you want a great dance party, make sure the lights are dim.Your guests will be more likely to get up and move if the lights are down. Remember, if you are having a videographer, make sure to discuss the lighting with him. If it is too dark in the room, the video quality may suffer.

6. Make sure the temperature in your reception
room is comfortable. It shouldn’t be too hot or too cold. Many modern reception facilities have their room temperatures regulated by computers, so if the room is uncomfortable, it takes time to change the temperature. Make sure to discuss the issue with your catering manager or wedding planner prior to the wedding day.
7. Make sure your entertainment is right on the dance floor, not in a corner. Of course, the entertainment is not the main focus of the day, but your guests will respond better if they can interact with the band or DJ. 8.
wonderful young lady that would love my son unconditionally. I pray for you still. I pray as you enter life together that each argument draws you closer together – each compromise has you meeting in the middle where marriage blossoms. I pray for your strength as you become the woman of your new home. I promise to call before I come over and respect your home as just that – YOUR home. I pray you won’t kill him when you find his boxers on the floor…. again. Pretty soon you’ll replace me. Oh, I know I’ll always be his mom but in so many ways you’ll
Make sure your feet are comfortable. Every bride wants to have stunning shoes on the wedding day. Usually the most stunning shoes have a three inch heal and straps or a skinny toe. They look great for the ceremony and beautiful in photographs, but they don’t do well on the dance floor. Make sure to bring some flat shoes, sneakers or flip flops to give your feet a break.
Continued on page 14
9. Don’t overspend. Nothing is more stressful than watching your beautiful wedding day unfold knowing that you are in debt because of it. Plan carefully and spend wisely, you will be able to enjoy your wedding and honeymoon in peace. 10. Eat, Drink and be Merry! Your guests will take their cues from you. If you are eating, dancing and enjoying yourselves, your guests will too. When I see a packed dance floor, typically the bride and groom are right in the center of the crowd. An Open Letter To My Future Daughter-In-Law I remember my first thoughts of you. I was alone in the hospital with my new little baby boy. He was sound asleep in my arms and his life flashed before my eyes and I thought about all the possibilities that awaited my sleeping baby. And I prayed. I prayed for his life, I prayed he’d accept Christ as his Savior and tears ran down my cheeks. I prayed for you. That’s right, 8 months before you were born, and for 16 years before I’d see your beautiful face, I prayed for you. I prayed that you were being taught about God by a family that loved you deeply. replace me. It’ll be you he hugs and kisses goodnight. It’ll be you he goes home to after work and shares about his day. He won’t be sitting in the dark living room with me having deep discussions at 1 a.m. on anything from God to money to youtube videos – you’ll be the one listening now. You’ll hear his dreams and his fears – please allow him to still dream. Listen as he shares his heart and encourage his pursuits. Allow him to share his feelings of inadequacy as a husband and father. Don’t rub his nose in it, instead, encourage his heart and I can guarantee he’ll do the same for you. It’ll only make him love you more. Protect his heart. I’m trusting you with it now. But please remember I was his first love. I kissed his boo-boos, rushed him to the hospital with a bloody face when he was attempting stunts on his bike, sat up nights holding a bucket by his bed and giving him medicine at 3 a.m. to treat a fever. I held his little hands and taught him how to walk. Now it’s you who will hold his hand and together you’ll learn how to navigate a marriage.
Just Imagine
I want to warn you, there will be days you don’t like him very much. But I pray on those days you remember your deep commitment to each other. Satan will try to tear you apart. And the days you don’t like each other or don’t necessarily feel “in love” will be his door in. Slam the door hard. Keep him out. Fight for your marriage. You’ll like him again and feel the mushy “in love” butterflies again. It ebbs and flows like the tide. But true love in a committed marriage is as deep as the ocean, so the ebb and flows will happen, but the depth is still there. I held him as he cried when he lost his grandma, aunt, and grandpa. One day you’ll hold him as he loses me. Please hold him tight that day and assure him I’m with the Lord and it’s only “see you later” and not a final goodbye. I want you to know his dad and I are always here for you and we’ll support and encourage you as a couple anyway we can. We’ll allow you both the space to work through the life you’re crafting together. You’ll have pieces of your home and how you were raised and pieces of ours that will meld into a new life that’s a perfect fit for the two of you. Keep God first above all and hold on for the wild, beautiful ride He has planned for you. I hold his past – but you hold his future.

The single mom and her middle school crush Our story starts in the halls of Troxell Middle School, where we briefly went to school together, then picks up almost two decades later after our paths crossed again but, this time it would be for forever. We met the way most people do now… through an Internet dating site. After I received the email from Tony, I was excited to go out on a date with someone familiar. Even though we never hung out in middle school, we knew the same people and I knew he wasn’t a serial killer, a bonus! For our first date, I was almost 15 minutes late, typical me, but, he waited patiently and that is how our 6-year journey began. I am so thankful to have a funny, hardworking and caring man as my husband and I know I couldn’t have asked for a better role model for my son! We made our family official on top of Blue Mountain this past October and it was the best day of our lives! I never thought the red-headed boy from middle school would be my husband but, here we are, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the life we share together!

Hilary Yusko and Kevin Smith Some might say that the internet is not the place to find your soulmate, but it worked out well for my Fiancé & I. Our story began four years ago on a popular dating site, Plenty of Fish. I had been using this site for a little over a year and had met some nice people, but not the one I wanted to spend my life with. I was ready to give up & delete my account, then I came across Kevin. As I read his profile I found that we shared several mutual interests, and I thought to myself “why not?” I was about to send him a message, and I saw an alert come through from him. He had messaged me as I was about to message him! It felt like fate. We started talking and clicked immediately. On our first date I knew he was a real keeper, turns out he felt the same way because he accidentally slipped out the words “I love you”! These past four years have been full of so many happy memories & I can’t wait to make more. We have gone from two strangers to soulmates. I can’t wait to say “I do” this November!

we all heard about this tall basketball player that was coming to our school. Since we went to a small high school word traveled fast and all the girls were excited for a new guy to walk the halls. When he arrived he was a bit shy so I took to AIM to strike up a conversation. (Back in the day where you had to get off the internet if your parents wanted to use the phone.) Finally one summer night he agreed to go mini golfing with my friends and I, we finally got to talk in person and the rest is history. We started dating in our senior year and dated long distance for all of college, and finally after nine years of dating got married this past October. Our reception was at Woodstone Country Club. Our wedding was an amazing day surrounded by family and friends and it really felt magical. My advice to any new brides or engaged couple is even though it sounds corny you should really try to savor every

Johanna & Taw Taw and I dated back in high school about 17 years ago. We would drive around town in his gold pickup truck (which he still has) holding hands. Everything just always seemed perfect when we were together, like a country love song. I came to realize later that the love we had wouldn't be found anywhere else. We ended up going our separate ways in 2002 due to circumstances at the time but we thought about each other occasionally over the years. After college, various different jobs, 4 children and failed relationships we found each other again when I walked into the local pizzeria in September of 2017. He was having lunch ironically with his high school best friend. The timing was just right. We have been inseperable ever since and on Christmas 2018 he got down on one knee in front of the tree and asked me to marry him. We are planning a September 2020 wedding. Fairytales, second chances and happy endings do come true!!!

Chorus: Wie schoen muss der Himmel doch sein, doch sein, Dort sind wir all selig und frei. Im Himmel kein Truebsal, kein Schmerzen Wie schoen muss der Himmel doch sein. Im Himmel kein Truebsal und Elend Wir wuensch‘n nicht auf Erden zu sein; Gottes Licht tut uns immer dort leuchten, Wie schoen muss der Himmel doch sein. Chorus: Wie schoen muss der Himmel ... Lebendigen Quellen von Wasser Und all die wo trinken sind frei;
Die Engel sie singen so froehlich Ich wuensch das ich war dabei; Die goldene Harfen sie klingen, Wie schoen muss der Himmel doch sein. German renditions of songs written by popular gospel songwriters like Fanny J. Crosby, Charles Wesley, Frances R. Havergal and Isaac Watts to name a few. And many of those gospel songs were translated by a second generation GermanAmerican, Walter Rauschenbusch, who was a pastor of a German Baptist Church in the Bronx in the late 19th century. (“How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” is the only song by Bridgewater known to exist today.) If you find people in your family tree who were members of a Mennonite Church, or one of the parent churches of the Evangelical United Brethren (EUB), or were German Baptists in the late 19th century or early 20th century, they may well have sung this German version along with many other German gospel songs and hymns. German was used in rural church service in our general area into the 20th century in many of those churches. Today the Amish, Old Order Mennonites and some Brethren still use the German in their worship services. You can hear the German version of this song on the internet, one by John Schmid, from Ohio Amish country, or another version by “Grupo Sal y Luz” (Salt and Light Band) from Bolivia. The latter are descendants of German Mennonites who centuries ago emigrated to Russia and then much later removed to Canada before finally relocating to Bolivia.]
