Ahh, spring. You are finally here and it feels good. The weather is warming – maybe a little too quickly, too early, but still, it feels great to see daffodils smiling up at me every time I go for a walk. And although my tulips – I have lots of tulips – aren’t blooming yet, they have broken through the dirt and are definitely getting ready to put on a big, bright, and very colorful show.

Of course candy is a big part of Easter as well with everything from jellybeans to chocolate rabbits. We thought it might be fun to include a simple Easter candy recipe in this issue, so that’s what we’ve done. If that’s of interest, see “Homemade Peanut Butter Eggs” for the easy “how to” instructions. In that article we not only give you the basic recipe, we also give you a few

variations you could try as well.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Two other rituals of spring are “spring cleaning” and prepping the garden for the growing season ahead. You might ask if spring cleaning is absolutely necessary. Well, no, it’s not. But if you take the time to do it, there are a number of really good benefits – particularly if you or anyone in your household has allergies. We take a look at a

Create a KidFriendly Easter Egg Hunt

SOURCE: parade.com (edited)

Looking to add a little something egg-xtra special to your classic Easter egg hunt festivities this year? From creative Easter egg hunt ideas – like making personalized Easter egg baskets for each of your kids – to practical, kid-friendly solutions like attaching a balloon to each hidden egg to make them easier for toddlers to locate, we have found 25 great ideas you can work with that will make your Sunday, March 31, 2024 Easter celebration even more memorable.

We will include the link to those ideas at the end of this article, but first, here are some of the fun ideas we found at parade.com.

1. Custom Egg Hunt Bunny Bags

Give each child a customized Easter bag to stash their egg hunt finds inside. To make it, grab a stack of white paper bags from your nearest dollar store.

Then either draw a bunny’s face with a permanent marker or print out an online template and glue it on each bag. Add a pink or blue bow and a cute carrot-shaped name tag to each.

2. Blooming Egg Hunt

Glue faux flowers onto the top of a few of your Easter eggs to make them extra festive and to better disguise them amongst your spring flower beds. On the big day, place them like a flower in your garden and encourage the little ones to pick them

6 News@TownAndCountryGazette.com || March 21, 2024 (610) 217-3862 www.lehighexterior.com Free Estimates Fully Licensed & Insured Financing available Roofing, Siding, & Seamless Gutters

when they find them.

3. Personalized Egg Hunt

Write each child’s name on a plastic egg. Instruct the kids that they are only allowed to collect the eggs with their names on it, or color-match their bag to a group of eggs and make sure you have an equal number of each egg color ready to be found in your garden.

4. Activity Egg Hunt

Instead of candy, fill some of the eggs with a piece of paper to get the kids to burn off some of that sugar-induced energy. On the paper instruct them to do fun active things like, "Show us your best bunny hop!" or "Baa like a lamb!"

5. Bunny Snack Time

With all the little ones running about, they are sure to get hungry. Fill plastic buckets with healthy snacks like carrots, celery, and hard-boiled eggs. Make the munch-ables more enticing with “find the egg” clues left by the Easter Bunny himself.

6. Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt

If you hold an egg hunt for older kids after dark, place a small glow stick or another glowing device inside multiple plastic eggs. Scatter around your backyard and wait till night falls to give the older kids a real treat.

7. Easter Egg Relay Race

Divide the kids into teams. When you say “Go,” one kid from each team has to go and search for an egg. The catch is... they also have to balance a foil-wrapped raw egg on a spoon as they do it, making sure not to drop and crack it! Once they find one, they have to come back and hand off the spoon/egg to a teammate who then runs the same drill. The team that finds the most eggs in a specific time wins a prize!

You can find the full listing of 25 creative Easter egg hunt ideas at this link: https://parade. com/1010263/marynliles/easter-egg-hunt-ideas/. Have a Happy Easter!

Making Peanut Butter Eggs at Home

SOURCE: Various

There is no Easter candy more popular with kids and adults than Peanut Butter Eggs. They are the Easter candy “staple.” Here is a recipe from playpartyplan.com for homemade peanut butter eggs that taste just like Reese’s peanut butter eggs, and are so simple to make. Then at the end of the article we offer suggestions for creating variations of the basic egg.

Creating these homemade peanut butter eggs is as easy as combining a few ingredients and then dipping in either white or milk chocolate to finish them off. Your whole family will enjoy these yummy Easter treats, and note that the recipe makes approximately forty of these delicious peanut butter eggs.

INGREDIENTS

• 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)

• 1/2 cup butter (softened)

• 18 ounces creamy peanut butter

• 8 cups powdered sugar

• 1 pound chocolate melting wafers or white or milk chocolate almond bark, or a blend of both INSTRUCTIONS

• Place cream cheese and butter in a large mixing bowl or stand mixer and beat until smooth.

• Add the peanut butter and mix until combined.

• Once that’s smooth, add in the powdered sugar and beat until well mixed.

• Scoop mixture using a 1 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop or large spoon and form into egg shapes. Place the eggs on a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes, until the eggs are firm.

• Place each type of melting chocolate in a separate bowl and microwave each bowl for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat 30 second increments, stirring after each one, until chocolate is melted and smooth.

• After eggs are chilled, use two forks to dip each egg in the melted chocolate. Make sure to completely cover the egg and gently shake off any extra chocolate.

8 News@TownAndCountryGazette.com || March 21, 2024

• Place the dipped eggs back on the parchment paper. While the chocolate is still soft, add sprinkles to make them more festive.

• Allow chocolate to set then serve!

Pro Tips and Notes

• Work in batches. Keep half of the eggs in the freezer while you’re dipping the first half so that the peanut butter mixture doesn’t get too soft to stay together while they’re being dipped.

• Store in the refrigerator because of the raw cream cheese in the mixture. These are good for up to a week stored in the refrigerator.

• Freeze these peanut butter eggs for up to three months by placing them in an airtight freezer safe bag.

Variations

• Graham Cracker Crumbs / You could opt to add graham cracker crumbs to the mixture before making them into the egg shape. Anything with graham cracker crumbs has to be amazing.

• Pinch of Salt / You could also add a pinch of salt to the peanut butter mixture. Doing that will give the mixture a great sweet/salty dynamic –

something that would differentiate the flavor just a little bit from the Reese's eggs.

• Add Some Crunch / If you want to add some crunch, just add a few peanuts to the mixture.

• Peanut Allergies? / For those who have peanut allergies, this recipe could be made with sunbutter or another peanut butter substitute you can order off Amazon or find in a store.

• Vegan and Dairy-Free / You could use plantbased butter to make this vegan or dairy-free.

Jump-Starting Your Spring Garden

SOURCE: washingtonpost.com (edited)

In our area we’ve started seeing the first blooms and buds of spring. Of course more will become visible over the coming weeks. But there are steps you can take right now to start preparing your garden for the growing season and the longer, warmer days ahead.

Most plants stop growing during winter to conserve energy, relying on stored nutrients beneath the soil to sustain them. The arrival of early spring, when increased daylight starts triggering plant growth, is the perfect time to put in a bit of work to help your plants thrive during the year.

Prepare Your Tools

Dig out your gardening tools and make sure they’re in working condition. Clean your pruners and shears with rubbing alcohol to avoid spreading any remnants of diseases from last year. Sharpen tools that need it, including pruning shears, hedge trimmers and lawn mower blades.

Charge any battery-operated tools, such as chain saws, weed whackers or lawn mowers, and change the filters on gas-powered models. Early spring is a good time to take care of these tasks.

If you find you’re missing something or need to replace a piece of equipment, don’t wait. Some items may be difficult to find later in the season.

Plan Your Planting Schedule

Clean up leaves. / Last year’s leaves make a good habitat for pollinators in winter, but now

that it’s getting warmer, it’s time to clean up any remaining leaves in your flower bed, especially the ones around plants that are susceptible to disease, such as boxwoods or roses. Disease spores can still live on leaves and debris and can infect your plants in the new season.

Cut back perennials. / Early spring is the ideal time to cut back last year’s spent perennials to prepare for new growth. Cut back each stem, leaving six to eight inches above the soil, so you can see where they are to avoid covering with mulch. Roses also need pruning, as do many trees and bushes, for shaping purposes. It’s best to do this while the plants are dormant.

Get ahead of the weeds. / To keep weeds from overtaking your garden, remove them before the active growing season. Note herbicides can damage your garden, so hand-pull or use a hoe if possible.

Help Plants Thrive

Consider fertilizing. / Perennials, shrubs and trees typically don’t need fertilizing, especially if you’ve added organic matter to the soil. Too much fertilizer can burn the roots and damage the foliage. Annuals and vegetables, on the other hand, may need a boost.

Testing your soil can indicate whether you need

to fertilize – and where. If you plan to fertilize, timing is important. Wait until the soil temperature is above 50 degrees. In our area, that’s likely to be mid-April. Aerate your soil first, so the nutrients can go deeper, and apply the fertilizer before mulching.

Add mulch. / A few inches of mulch can prevent soil from washing away in storms, moderate soil temperatures and lock in moisture. Use locally sourced mulch, such as pine needles, grass clippings, leaves and newspapers, which are more environmentally friendly than many store-bought options.

How to: Cleaning Your House

Efficiently

SOURCE: womansday.com (edited)

Are you looking to streamline your cleaning routine and make it more efficient? Cleaning your house can be a significant task – sometimes overwhelming, but regardless of how you tackle it, cleaning the house in whatever way works best for you is a noteworthy achievement that should be celebrated. In this article we are going to look at specific cleaning methods that might help you

streamline your house-cleaning approach.

It has been proven that having a cleaner and more organized living space can benefit your physical health, mental well-being, productivity, time management, and comfort, but cleaning a house from top to bottom is no easy feat. So, we sought the advice of experts to uncover easy cleaning techniques to make cleaning house a quicker and more efficient process.

House Cleaning Methods

There are several approaches we’re going to look at. Your choice of approach will of course depend on your personal preferences, available time, lifestyle, and your home's specific needs. You may even want to combine some of these approaches to create a new method that suits you best.

12 News@TownAndCountryGazette.com || March 21, 2024

Daily Cleaning Routine: This approach involves performing small cleaning tasks on a daily basis to maintain a tidy and organized home. Daily tasks may include making beds, doing dishes, wiping down kitchen counters, and picking up clutter.

Weekly Cleaning Routine: A weekly cleaning routine involves setting aside specific days or time each week to perform deeper cleaning tasks. This includes vacuuming, mopping floors, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, and changing bed linens.

Zone Cleaning: Zone cleaning breaks your home into different zones or areas, and you focus on one zone at a time during your cleaning sessions. For example, you might designate Mondays for cleaning the kitchen, Tuesdays for the living room, and so on. This approach ensures that each area receives thorough attention.

Seasonal Cleaning: Seasonal cleaning involves deep cleaning and organizing your home at specific times of the year, such as spring cleaning or fall cleaning. This approach often includes tasks like washing windows, cleaning carpets, and decluttering.

Minimalist Cleaning: Minimalist cleaning focuses on decluttering and simplifying your home to make cleaning easier and more efficient. It

involves reducing possessions and maintaining a minimalist living space.

Speed Cleaning: Speed cleaning is all about completing cleaning tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible. It often involves using cleaning checklists, optimizing cleaning tools, and minimizing distractions to save time.

The KonMari Method: Developed by Marie Kondo, the KonMari method involves decluttering and organizing your belongings based on whether they "spark joy." It's a comprehensive approach to tidying up and involves discarding items that no longer bring happiness.

Total Clean Method: According to one expert, house cleaning is much more efficient if you pick one task, such as dusting, mopping, or vacuuming, and do the same task in every room of the house.

Chore Charts and Rotating Tasks: Creating chore charts and assigning cleaning tasks to family members can help distribute the cleaning workload and ensure that everyone contributes to maintaining a clean home.

Regardless of which cleaning method you choose, the key is to maintain a clean and organized living space that contributes to your overall wellbeing.

Spring Storm Safety Tips

SOURCE: Various

It’s pretty obvious that truly stormy weather can strike at any time of the year, including the spring. It can pose a threat to your home. High winds and lightning can bring down trees, while heavy rain and hail can cause costly damage.

As spring storms make their way across the country, preparation is key to reducing the risk of property losses. Here are some recommendations from the Insurance Institute for Home and Business Safety (IBHS) on what you can do before, during, and after a storm.

Before a storm:

1. Look for weak points around your home. Take a walk around the outside and make note of any potential problem areas, such as damaged shingles, loose gutters, or branches hanging over your roof. Make a list and schedule repairs.

2. Inventory your possessions. Use your smartphone to photograph and document belongings in the event of a loss.

3. Add head protection to your storm kit. Your kit should include medications, batteries, first aid, a

M-F

M-F

weather radio, and head protection such as bike helmets or even pillows that can protect you from flying debris.

4. Review your insurance. Make sure your policy is current and includes coverage for the kinds of storms you’re most likely to experience.

During a storm:

1. Close your windows and doors. A sealed home is a safe home. Close doors and windows to protect the structural integrity of the building envelope (roof, windows, walls, and doors) against strong winds. This helps compartmentalize pressure forces should a window or exterior door take damage.

2. Shut the garage door. Did you know the garage door is one of the most vulnerable parts of a house in high winds? Keep it closed during thunderstorms and tornadoes to minimize the pressures that can cause roofs and exterior walls to be damaged.

3. Keep your phone’s emergency alerts on. Make sure emergency alerts are enabled on your smartphone, even at night. Your phone is a more reliable way to follow ongoing storm developments.

After a storm:

Once a storm has passed, survey any damage and make plans for repairs. If renovations are needed, consider ways to enhance and strengthen your home in the process to minimize the effects of serious weather in the future. The IBHS has guidance on how to create a “fortified home” in the following areas:

1. Enhancing roof performance – Your roof is your home’s first line of defense against rain. Improve roof performance in three steps – nail it down, seal it up, and lock it in. Also consider using impact-resistant shingles for hail-prone areas.

2. Strengthening openings and attached structures

Make a positive impact: Give blood with the Red Cross Donors needed to help keep blood supply growing as seasons change

As spring approaches, the American Red Cross urges donors to give blood or platelets now to continue to strengthen the national blood supply. People of all blood types – especially those with type O blood – are critical to ensuring hospitals can meet the daily demand for lifesaving transfusions.

During Red Cross Month in March, the Red Cross celebrates the volunteers and blood and platelet donors who are critical to ensuring those in need receive relief and care. Help can’t wait – to

book a time to give, visit RedCrossBlood.org, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or call 1-800-RED CROSS. As a thank-you, all who come to give by March 24 will get a $10 e-gift card to a pet supply merchant of choice, plus a chance to win one of five $3,000 gift cards. Visit RedCrossBlood.org/Pets for details.

Additionally, the Red Cross is teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures to celebrate the epic new film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and to invite donors to rise together and give blood. When donors share their strength by giving March 25-April 7, they’ll get an exclusive Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.

How to donate blood

Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for

patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/ RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.

Amplify your impact − volunteer!

Another way to support the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross is to become a volunteer blood donor ambassador at Red Cross blood drives. Blood donor ambassadors help greet, check-in and thank blood donors to ensure they have a positive donation experience.

Volunteers can also serve as transportation specialists, playing a vital role in ensuring lifesaving blood products are delivered to nearby

hospitals. For more information and to apply for either position, visit redcross.org/volunteertoday.

About the American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission. For more information, please visit redcross.org or CruzRojaAmericana.org, or follow us on social media.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration – Slatington Public Library

Many young children filled the Slatington Public Library on Saturday March 2, 2024 to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Peters Elementary kindergarten teacher Mrs. Marshelle George read some lively books to the captive audience who enjoyed the readings as well as coloring activities, refreshments and a goodie bag for home. Additionally, the youngsters received a Dr. Seuss certificate and stickers, and many parents snapped their child’s pictures at the Thing 1 and Thing 2 photo cutouts.

The Slatington Public Library relishes in offering programs such as the Dr. Seuss Birthday Event and the upcoming Preschool Story Hour beginning March 19 for six consecutive Tuesdays at 11:00 AM. All in all, over 40 children, 20 adults, and 4 volunteers participated in the Dr. Seuss event.

either side, with Jesus between them. 19 Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth,[2] the King of the Jews.” 20 Many of the Jews read this inscription because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew[3] in Latin, and in Greek. 21 Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’ ” 22 Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” 23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. 24 So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it but cast lots for it to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill what the scripture says, “They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.”

25 And that is what the soldiers did.

Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus

saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.

28 After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Since it was the day of Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the cross during the Sabbath, especially because that Sabbath was a day of great solemnity. So they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and the bodies removed. 32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who had been crucified with him. 33 But when they came

to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out. 35 (He who saw this has testified so that you also may believe. His testimony is true, and he knows[4] that he tells the truth, so that you also may continue[5] to believe.) 36 These things occurred so that the scripture might be fulfilled, “None of his bones shall be broken.” 37 And again another passage of scripture says, “They will look on the one whom they have pierced.”

38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, though a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed his body. 39 Nicodemus, who had at first come to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. 40 They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it with the spices in linen cloths, according to the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. 42 And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation

and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Ideal home for Baxter? One that loves and cares for him of course, a home committed to him forever. A home that will give him the daily sufficient exercise he needs to stay happy and balanced. A home with another dog or dogs is great, but he would do fine as solo, too. A fenced in yard for extra playtime would be wonderful.

Baxter is about 3 yrs old and weighs about 50 lbs. He is utd and neutered.

Lattemann’s Corner Store & Deli to close its doors

Moore Township’s corner store and deli, Lattemann’s, recently announced they will be closing their doors to the public.

A sign posted last week states: “After 14 years of operation, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We would like to express our appreciation to our customers for their trust, patronage and support over the years. We are proud to have served you all.”

Lattemann’s, on the corner of routes 946 and 987, has been a gem in the community. Whether patrons needed to pick up an item on their way home such as some milk or bread, or were stopping by for a breakfast sandwich or one of their famous cheesesteaks for lunch or dinner, they have been a one-stop shop for over a decade.

In addition to their cheesesteaks, other crowd favorites from the menu include their meatloaf, baked haddock and Italian hoagies, while their Friday night dinner offerings have always been a big hit as well.

Owner Joe Lattemann said they plan to keep everything business as usual leading up to the closure, providing they don’t run out of stock. Everything in the store is for sale, including regular store items and equipment.

The corner store and deli’s last day of business will be Sunday, March 24 and their hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Joe stated they still hope to be able to see everyone at Moore Township Community Days, so keep an eye out this summer for their food stand at the event.

“Thank you all for the last 14 years of patronage and we’ll miss everybody,” said Joe.

4 hazards you should keep away from your Pets this spring

From avoiding poisonous plant bulbs to keeping an eye open for ticks

Spring is finally here, but the experts are reminding pet owners to watch out for seasonal hazards that could harm dogs. From avoiding poisonous plant bulbs to keeping an eye open for ticks, it's important you watch where your dog walks.

With this in mind, Helen Wikeley, Veterinary Surgeon at leading animal welfare charity,

Battersea, has shared her expert knowledge on how to keep pets safe this spring as they enjoy the warmer weather. Keep reading for everything you need to know:

1. Plants and bulbs

Daffodils, tulips, lilies, bluebells and hyacinths are among the spring plants that can be poisonous to our pets. If you have any of these in your garden

or home, make sure to keep them well out of reach from your inquisitive furry friends.

"Symptoms of plant poisoning that pet owners should be aware of include drooling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and increased heart and respiratory rates," says Helen. "If you notice any of these symptoms and think your pet might have been poisoned, contact your vet immediately."

2. Ticks

Ticks are common in woodland and grassland areas, particularly during springtime. If you've been playing outside with your dog, run your hands over your pet to check for any ticks they may have picked up.

"It is vital that a tick is removed correctly; if you squeeze the tick, or leave its head inside your pet's body, the risk of infection is increased," adds Helen.

If and when you do find a tick, it's really

important to remove it immediately as this will lessen the chances of your pet becoming unwell. Using a device designed specifically to twist the tick off is the best practice. You could also consider talking to your vet about products designed to prevent ticks in the first place and these are particularly handy if you routinely walk through an area prone to them.

3. Seasonal allergies

Just like humans, dogs – and sometimes cats –can also suffer from seasonal allergies. And spring

is one time when these allergies can become more prominent. You may notice that your dog or cat has been itching their skin more after being outside. This itching can allow sore spots to develop on their skin, which can ultimately lead to a risk of infection.

If you do notice that your pet is itching more, ask your local vet for advice. Wet flannels or cool packs can provide some soothing comfort to your pet's skin.

"Animals can sometimes develop red, watery eyes in hot dry weather and may get dust or pollen stuck in them as a result," Helen says. "To help with this, gently clean around their eyes with

damp cotton wool."

4. Wasp and bee stings

Dog bee stings are not as common as you may expect, but they still do occur. "Dogs are most likely to suffer from a swollen paw or face with some localized pain or irritation," explains Helen.

"This should go away after a short period of time, however in some cases, your pet may be allergic to the sting which can result in a severe reaction and could be fatal if not treated."

Here is what you'll want to look out for:

Dogs – In dogs, you may notice them biting or giving attention to a specific area that is more than likely swollen, if they have been stung. They may also start whining or holding up or pawing at the affected area.

Cats – Your cat may start nibbling, pawing or suddenly giving attention to the area in which they've been stung. They may also yowl or be more vocal than usual. Swelling in a particular area of their body is another tell-tale sign that they may have been stung.

There are a few more symptoms, which may suggest that your pet has actually had an allergic reaction to a sting and these are:

· Vomiting

· Rapid breathing or difficulty breathing

· Weakness or collapsing

· Pale gums

· Diarrhea

· Excessive swelling around the area of the sting and spreading away from it

If you do notice any of these signs, or your dog or cat has been stung several times or has been stung on the throat or mouth, you should contact your vet as soon as you possibly can for advice. They will most likely ask you to bring your pet straight in for treatment if any of these allergic reactions have happened.

into our homes. Here are 12 beautiful ways to decorate your home for spring.

Hang A Spring Wreath On Your Front Door

Hanging a beautiful spring wreath on the front door notes winter’s passing and spring’s welcoming. It’s a rite of passage and the first thing I do when I decorate for spring.

An essential spring decor idea is a big, lush, welcoming spring wreath. I am a huge fan of making my own spring door decor using grapevine

wreaths and baskets. And I fill them with spring flowers, moss, and sometimes a twiggy nest!

A spring wreath in an entryway offers guests and passersby a big cheery welcome of the season.

The Cherry Blossom Weath was easy to make with just a couple of items. You might also like to see a Spring Front Door Basket, another easy-tomake spring DIY craft.

I like to use lots of texture in a spring wreath and the same spring-inspired colors I see outside my door.

Do A Little Spring Cleaning And Organizing

A bit of “spit and polish” will work wonders for your home before you decorate for spring. It’s the perfect time to throw open our windows and let the fresh air in while we tidy things up.

Since I keep our home pretty clean and organized all year round using an Easy To Do Cleaning and Organizing System, I mostly like to concentrate on cleaning my windows, washing the window screens and interior casings, and making my porch and patio spring-ready. You will also find me decluttering my clothes. Getting rid of what I did

not wear and organizing my spring wardrobe.

I also like to gather up the things I think I’ll be using in our home for spring, like lightweight blankets and pillows, to freshen them up. Vases and planters also get washed so they are ready for flowers and spring plantings.

Bring Spring Florals Indoors

Spring is a short-lived season in my area, so I love to fill our home with real spring flowers. Fresh flowers are an everyday luxury, especially when tulips, daffodils, and other spring flowers are in season. Bring spring flowers into your home! This is such an easy spring decor idea.

In the image below, a bouquet of tulips makes a fresh spring centerpiece. I love white tulips, and they work well with my neutral decor. But don’t pass up tulips in spring pastels or brightly colored ones for a pop of color!

I strive to keep my cut tulips looking fresh for at least a week or more. One of my most popular posts is How To Keep Cut Tulips Fresh Longer. In it, you will find easy ways to keep your tulips looking their best.

Potted Spring Flowers

If you are decorating with potted spring flowers like tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, or pansies, it is best to remove them from their pots and replant them in a pretty container with holes for drainage. Adding a bit of moss to hide the dirt is also nice. The moss will help the soil stay moist longer and prevent the potted plant from drying out too quickly.

As the blooms fade, make sure to pinch them off so your plant looks healthy.

If you want to keep spring flowers in their plastic pots, slip them into another pretty container. Potted spring flowers usually last a bit longer than cut spring flowers.

Planting Cool Stored Bulbs

You can also plant cool stored bulbs in a shallow dish, pot, or other containers. Put pebbles in the bottom of the container and nestle bulbs, root side down, in the stones. Add water to cover the bulb’s root end and set it in a bright spot. The bulbs will begin to grow stems and leave and then bloom.

This is a beautiful way to get in the spring spirit.
