The work space. Thesis Project.

The 4 monoliths visible in axonometry, which give the project its name, represent the central elements of the project in an iconic manner. In fact, the building is crossed by these large volumes around which the various areas develop, from work areas to recreational areas. we opted for an extreme formal simplification that translates the space into an aesthetically synthetic laboratory but in perfect harmony with the different needs of each area, maintaining the maximum index of accessibility, flexibility and fluidity for each area We developed the entire project following an abstract, scenographic approach, not only in the choice of rigorous forms but also through an accurate and punctual choice of materials.
The inspiration for these started from some of the creatures imagined by Makinarium. in thesis research We have analyzed, through the analysis of the main organizational structures, what the world of work is today Today The physical place of work becomes the symbol of a community to which its members wish to belong. The need for community and a sense of belonging are factors that increasingly guarantee a good level of satisfaction in the workplace. That’s why we aimed to maintain a strong coherence between the workspace and the values and the brand identity of makinarium. from these premises the choice to cover the monoliths with materials that recall, in their maternity and in their color palette, some creatures of makinarium

Parallel to the scenographic approach, we have also deepened the functional, pragmatic approach to design each area perfectly tailored to the different needs The result was the design of a laboratory that becomes a prototype of the work that is carried out inside it, a gathering place for a community of creatives, a flexible office capable of hosting a spatial and functional mix to meet different needs , in a perspective of “right area at the right time. The variety of spaces is mixed: The few dividing walls present are made of glass, precisely to highlight one of the key objectives of the project: to encourage creative interaction between people. we operated on a building 86 meters long and 8 meters wide. the objective was to bring together in a single hub all the skills and production sectors of makinarium.

The museum space. Exhibit Design Project.

The exhibition takes us on a journey through the human soul: through works that, however, exclude the presence of man. In this way, “ABSENCE” proposes a reading of individuality, retracing more than 100 works that, while taking our eyes off the human figure, of humanity tell multiple shades.
For these reasons the atmosphere of the exhibition has an extremely immersive character, which faithfully follows the trajectories of Gallery 3 without forgetting its architectural identity, but lying down to it, indeed building on it a scenario of transparencies and metallic shadows capable of generating drifts.
The MAXXI archive opens the doors to an exhibition that it wants denounce the condition of man, linking works and artists close to the impalpable thread of absence. The visitor, in spite of himself, in the absence will be able to hear, imposing and inexorable, the scream of a humanity that demands attention and contemplation.
“ABSENCES” is all of this: works that embarrass one to the other, in an intense and silent dialogue: the eyes of the viewer will establish their connection and connections. It will be the journey of the spectator to generate new interactions and new questions.

Work and living space.

A project that begins in the white space of the paper, where a line defines the body of the building, the articulation of the space. A project that continues in its minimal sections, where a calibrated hierarchy of full and empty, of public and private space, translate into an example of spatial poetics that builds space making its negative protagonist. An extreme project based on the excavation, the removal of matter, the removal of volumes from a predefined shape. Thus giving form and presence to the void, a true ‘constructor’ element of the project.
The project aims, as another objective, to bring out the previous architecture of the great Adalberto Libera. This is why the previous wall section traces the line of subdivision of the spaces.
All this translates spatially into a clear partition: the front of the building, completely emptied from the previous floor and filled again, floor by floor, with platforms of different shapes, is dedicated to a public exhibition area. The rear front remains full, and is dedicated to the artists’ private rooms. The operation is winning and suggestive in composition, and functional at the time of use.
The visual transparency generated by the Keller grid, the covering of the display platforms, and the play of light, coming from the openings in the façade, which break into the space, generate an excavated, abstract and absolute volume. The imposing steel beams, structural supports of the display platforms, and the suggestive lift body contribute, in their ‘indifference’ to the existing architectural elements, to achieve an alienating effect and to make the appearance of space something between the metaphysical and the oniric .
The last two floors are dedicated to the common areas: on the fifth floor a kitchen and a living area to be lived in community; at the sixth a large skylight illuminates the artists’ studio, this time united in the same workspace. 33
