Titule: The Canterville Ghost. Author: Oscar Wilde. Publishing house: Black Cat. Main characters: -Mr. Hiram B. Otis: He was rich and very important. He was a minister of the United States goverment. He decided to buy Canterville Chase because he wanted to live in an old house in England. People said that he was very foolish. -Mrs. Lucretia Otis: She was Mr. Hiram B. Otis’ wife. She had been famous in New York for her beuty. She was full of energy and very healthy. -Washington: He was Mr. Hiram B. Otis and Mrs. Lucretia Otis’ oldest son. They called Washington because of the first president of the United States (George Washington) He was tall, blond and good-looking. He liked dancing very much and he enjoyed the company the company of the British aristocracy. -Virginia: She was fifteen years old. She had blue eyes and she was lovely. She liked so much riding her pony in the country. She was in love with a young English lord, Cecil, Duke of Cheshire. -The Twins: They were the youngest children in the family. They were naughty but people liked them, everybody minus the Ghost who was afraid of them. -Mrs. Umney: She was the housekeeper. She was an old woman. -The Ghost: He was the ghost of Sir Simon who lived in Canterville Ghost. He murdered his wife when he lived. -Lord Canterville: Sumary: Canterville Ghost talks about a ghost who lived in Canterville Chase for a lot of years. He was the Ghost of Sir Simon who was scaring everyone in the house. These people always killed themselves. Lord Canterville was the last of the family who lived there, his wife was afraid of the ghost and they went out. The family Otis come to Britain, place where Canterville Chase was, and decided to buy the house. Lord said to Mr. Otis that the house was haunted but he answered that they were american and american people didn’t was afraid of ghosts so Mr. Otis bought the old house. They went to it and there, they met Mrs. Umney who was their keephouser, she also knew about the ghost but they didn’t mind about him. Their first meeting with the ghost wasn’t very late but they slipped by of. The ghost was very angry and tried to scare them for three 2
times more but it wasn’t enough, the twins always scared him before. Virginia who was the only in the family didn’t laugh of him tried to help him and her intention was good, she saved Sir Simon (the ghost) And then in the house there was a funeral. Lord Canterville come and said that Virginia had to have the jewels which Sir Simon gave her before he died. Virginia married with the Duke and it was the end of the story.
