Summary: The story was about two friends, J.G Utterson and Henry Jeckyll in 1885 and 1886. Utterson was Jeckyll’s lawyer and friend. Henry was a rich man who didn’t need to work but he always was studying for new experiments. This was the beginning of this story. One day Utterson was walking with another friend, Mr Enfield, who told him a strange story about a man called Mr Hyde, a friend of Henry. Utterson was talking with Jeckyll about him but he didn’t want to say nothing until a day in which the police called Utterson because there was a murder, and the murdered was Sir Danvers Carew, who was carrying a letter to him. After talking, the police showed Utterson some papers from a witness who showed a man killing Danvers Carew, his name was Hyde, when Utterson read this they came to Jeckyll’s house where they found the walking stick with blood, which was the object that Hyde used to kill the man. In this moment Utterson started suspecting and he came to talk with Jeckyll but Henry only said that Hyde wasn’t a really bad fellow and that he only left a note to him saying that the police was following him and he would go abroad to France. Utterson told everything to the police and he knew nothing more about Hyde. A few months later, new year’s day Henry did a party with his friends, Utterson and Lanyon, everyone was happy, as if Hyde never was there and he did nothing until the day that Utterson went to see Lanyon and he said to him that he was dying and it was true becuase a week later he died.

The next Saturday Utterson was walking with Enfield, when they were near Henry’s house, they stopped and saw Jeckyll sitted over the window, they talked until Henry went into the house putting his hand in his eyes, and then Utterson saw a shadow that it wasn’t Henry’s shadow. Some days later the Jeckyll’s servant called Utterson because Henry locked himself in the laboratory, the two men ran to the house and called him, but the man who answered had a different voice to Jeckyll then Utterson recognized him, it was Mr Hyde’s voice. He ordered Poole, the servant, to throw the door and when they came in the laboratory they saw a man laying on the floor, he was Hyde, he was dead, because of a poison. Henry Jeckyll didn’t appear anymore and Utterson decided to open Lanyon’s and his enveloped because he had been warned not to open them until the two men were dead. When he read the two letters both of them said the same, Henry Jeckyll and Mr Hyde were the same person. Utterson can’t belive that but this explained so many things. Personal opinion: I think that the book is really good and entertaining, it can teach so many things as that everyone have that bad part inside him and if we haven’t got the other good part our brain wouldn’t control what we do. This is one of the best stories I’ve ever read, it’s just amazing and the play we saw in Badajoz was better than it because it was easy to understand and funny.
