He is the protagonist of the story. He has a very dificult childhood. When he is child, his mother dies, his stepfather mistreats him, he worked very hard in a company, but his great support is Peggoty because she help him and David travels her everywhere, but luckily gets love with Dora althoughts she dies after. David´s friend. They were very good friends but finally she to married Ham. Later, she left with Steerforth and anadoned Ham. Mr Mills-Dora´s

companion. She was friendly and good person.


SUMMARY CHAPTER 1: EARLY CHILDHOOD

David was born on a Friday night at midnight. Some people say that if any child born at this hour on a Friday night will be unlucky in his life. His mother was widow because his father had died six months earlier. On the Friday, he was born, his mother was sitting at home when she suddenly realised that there was a face staring at her through the window. It was Aunt Betsey, Mr. Copperfield´s aunt. Mrs. Clara´s maid, Pegotty sent her nephew Ham, who was spending his holiday with her, to bring the doctor, this told that was a boy and Aunt Betsey very angry left home because she would want a girl. Years later, His mother came house accompanied by a man, Mr Murstone, but David was jealous and he wouldn´t want to Murdstone, because of this Peggoty and his mother argued and the maid decided to go to Yarmouth with David. Next day, they travelled by horse and when they arrived saw ham there, after Pegotty introduced her family to David and he met to Emily that they became very good friends. CHAPTER 2: THE MURDSTONE

Two weeks in Yarmouth were wonderful but when they returned to house saw that Muderstone have got a black dog, that immediately tried to attack. His mother taught him but Mr Muderstone and his sister always was in the room. David was very nervous and he couldn´t think clearly. Other day, when he was in the room, Murdstone and his sister began to ask but he failed an answer, suddenly Murdestone very angry, hit him with cane and David bit his hand. For five days, his room was the prisión and every day he spent thirty minutes in the garden also he prayed with other childs but they didn´t speak. Peggotty said he would send him to a school near London.


Chapter 3: sCHOOLDAYS

David arrived to London, there found an man, Mr Mell, H e was a teacher at the school and he put a sign on the back of David because he bit his stepfather. The holiday arrived, and he returned to house, everyone was very happy, Mr Bakis was in love with Peggotty and wanted to marry her, but not Peggotty . The next morning, David apologized to his stephater, but he didn´t want to spend more time there and David left Yarmouth. Chapter 4: DREADFUL NEWS

He returned to the routine of school life. The time passed until March, when it was his birthday. That day he received very sad news, had died his mother and his brother. Now, his future was uncertain, he had no one in the world. He asked permission to go with Peggotty, and was very surprised when Murdstone agreed, after they travelled to Dam´S house,but those days at Yarmouth passed very quickly, and soon he had to returner home with Mr and Ms Murdstone. Chapter 5: Running Away

At the age of ten, he began to work for Murstone and Grinby, There, his job was to wash bottles, put labels on them and pack them in boxes after David met to his landcord, Mr Micawber he lived with him. His family were poor and he was unable to pay his debts so he went to prisión. Mr Micawber was released from prison as a result of a new law released so the family decided left, because of this, David was alone and decided to run away from London with his aunt. Finally he reached aunt´s village, there he using all the courage and strenght, he walked up to her and touched her arm, but unfortunately she didn´t know him until he told her his story. Betsey received him with great affection, but she sent a letter to Mr. Murdstone, so, Murstone arrived the next day, to take him home but Betsey didn´t want and she decided that he would stay with her also changed his named, Trotwood Copperfield.


Chapter 6: In canterbury

Aunt Betsey decided that he must complete his education and go to school. His aunt spoken with her lawyer and they decided that David will stay at Mr. Wickfield´s house, where he met to Agnes, Wickfield´s daughter. The next holiday, Mr Wickfield and he arrived at Dr Strong´s school. There, he met to Uriah Heep who invited to David to have tea with him and his mother. Suddenly, He heard a familiar voice, was Mr Micawber. David was very happy to see his friend and Micawber invited him to his house and was very surprised to see him. Chapter 7: a holiday in yarmouth

David went to Yarmouth for few days but before he stopped in Canterbury to say goodbye to Dr. strong and to Wickfield although he was sad to leave Agnes. From Canterbury he travelled by coach to London, where he planned to stay the night in a hotel because there, was Steerforth, his old schoolfriend. After Steerforth and he travelled to Yarmouth together. There, everyone were very happy and Peggoty announce a news to David. She told to David that Emily are going to get married with Ham. Chapter 8: Uriah heep´s plans

A few days later, he received a letter from his aunt, reminding him that he had come to Yarmouth to make a decision about his future. She suggested proctor, because it was a job easy and very well paid, after Betsey and David planned to meet in London. When he arrived, she took him to the offices of Spenlow and Jorking. There, found to Mr. Wickfield and Agnes, who told him that Uriah- Father was about to make his partner because his father was sick y needed help. Suddenly, he noticed a familiar face, was Tommy Traddles, he was starting a career as a lawyer. When they were there, Heep said that he will help to Wickfield and he will marry his daughter.


Chapter 9: happiness and sorrow

Mr Spenlow invited to David to his house, he was introduced to his daughter, Dora and he fell in love with her. Dora had a companion, Miss Murdstone. He wondered why she was now working in this position, but he didn´t ask because he didn´t want to speak to her after the way she had treated him in his childhood. One evening, Steerforth appeared in my lodgings with a letter for me from Peggoty, were bad news. Barkis is dying. After, David went at Peggoty´s house and when he arrived there, Barkis was lying and he was very ill, few minutes later, he died. After the funeral, he went to Mr Peggoty´s house to say goodbye when he arrived Ham was very pale because Emily and Steerforth went together. Mr Peggoty left to find to Emily. Chapter 10: miss murdstone´s revenge

He couldn't stop thinking about Dora. She has a new companion, Miss Mills.Dora stayed with her in London for a time but two days late, David visited to Dora and he found the courage to tell Dora how much I love her and Dora felt the some way about him. He was overjoyed. Days later, his aunt and Mr Dick appeared unexpectedly at his lodgings. His aunt was ruined, and David didn´t know what to do. He think that If he left his job, Mr Spenlow would agree to return the 1000 pounds that his aunt has paid him but unfortunately he refused. David hadn´t money and he was certain Spenlow wouldn´t permit his daughter to marry a man with no money. He must find an extra job, so he went to see Dr strong and explained that he needed extra work, finally Dr. Strong was very pleased and offered him 70 pounds. He told to Dora that he was ruined however she told David that she still in love, nothing prevents her love.


One day, Mr Spenlow found some letters which he had secretly sent to Miss Mills for Dora. Mr Spenlow knew that David was ruined so he didn´t want his daughter to be with him. The next morning, unexpectedly Mr.Spenlow died. CHAPTER 11: UNION AND REUNIONS

David accompanied his aunt on a visit to her house near Dove, he stopped in Canterbury to see Agnes. When he arrived at Mr Wickfield's office, he saw his old friend, Mr Micawber. Later David went at the Wickfield´s house and he noticed that Uriah Heep filled Mr Wickfield´s wine glass whenever it become empty. In the evening Mr Wickfield become more and more drunk. Then Uriah Heep suddenly announced that he will marries to Dora soon. Mr Wickfield was furious, after his daughter took him to his room. The following day David left Canterbury with a feeling of great sadness. He returned to London, where found to Mr Peggotty and Martha. Soon after, David went to France, but he couldn´t find them anywhere. He returned to Yarmouht where found a letter from Emily. Ham never speaks about Emily, he works hard. Dora went to live with two of her aunts after her father´s death. David decided to ask Dora´s aunt for permission to marry her. She nodded. When he was 21 years old, he earned enough money to move to a small house in London. After, was the wedding of David and Dora. Several month after, Dora was expecting a baby, but she lost the baby and become very ill. Steerforth´s servant had news of Emily. Mr Steerforth and the girl visited many countries. At first, they got on well together, but then they began to have arguments. Eventually, Mr Steertforth left. He said he would return in a couple of days but he never came back. When the girl realised this, she was furious and disappeared. Chapter: 12 confronting uriah heep


When he got back to his house there was a very mysterious letter from Mr Micawber. The letter said that Uriah Heep was a criminal and a thief. He had done many bad things and has caused much suffering to innocent people. After, David In Canterbury he received an unexpected visit from Martha. She told him that Emily was in a dirty old house. Later, she recounted her experiences in Europe. Dora was very ill and she was losing weight, however David and Traddles went to the meeting with his aunt and Mr Dick. They went directly to Mr Micawberand and Uriah Heep they was furious with Uriah Heep and insulted him. CHAPTER: 13 STARTING AGAIN

Dora´s health continued to get worse and that night she died peacefully. Late, Traddles told him that he had studied Uriah Heep´s documents and had managed to save Mr Wickfield´s business and to recover Aunt Betsey´s money. When David went to Yarmouth, the sky was very dark, he was sure there was going to be a storm. That afternoon, the weather become worse, strong winds blew trees down, and in Yarmouth the waves were almost as high as the buildings. Suddenly, They saw a ship on the rocks, They rushed down to the sea at once. Ham was tying a rope around his body, intending to swim to the ship to rescue the people trapped on board, but a huge wave crashed over him and he disappeared. When Ham´s friends finally pulled him ashore, they couldn´t save him and he died. David returned to london feeling very sad. He know he couldn´t tell Dan Peggotty or emily about ham´s death because Emily would be heartbroken and they might not leave. The Micawbers were leaving with Dan Peggotty and Emily, and David accompanied them all to their ship. Three years later, He lived in Italy and Switzerland also he wrote a great deal and sent his work to his publisher by post when he returned to england, he first went


to Dover to see Aunt Betsey and Mr Dick, they hadn´t changed at all to his great surprise, Peggotty was also living there and was, his aunt´s housekeeper. After, he and Dora got married. Ten years later, Dan Peggotty came home from David, There, Dan told him everything that had happened in recent years. Dan Peggotty stayed with their a month and they spent many pleasant evenings exchaming stories. Other day, Mr Peggotty and David went to visit Ham´s grave in Yarmouth. Before, they left the grave, Mr Peggotty knelt down and picked up some earth and he put it in his pocket.

MY OPINION

I think that this book is interesting but appeared too characters and is a few confusing but the finish is very nice however there are many deaths in history could be avoided. I like it because we learn a few history about different characters from the past and I recommend it to everyone who likes to read.
