INFORMATION ABOUT THE BOOK 1. Title: “The Canterville ghost and other stories” 2. Author: Oscar Wilde 3. Publishing house: Richmond 4. Main characters: The main characters are the following: •

The ghost: He’s the main character of the book. Thanks to him, the story is developed. Every night, he appears to scare the family and at the end of the book, he tells Virginia the truth.

Mr Otis: Mr Otis is a lord who buys the Canterville chase. He doesn’t hear people who say that this castle is haunted. After, he and his family discover that all of these topics about the Canterville chase were truth.

Virginia: She’s Mr Otis’ daughter and she talks to the ghost about his life. The ghost says to her that he hasn’t killed to his wife. Virginia prays for him and she keeps a treasure from him.

The twins: They scare the ghost every night. The Canterville ghost tried to scare them but finally, they always scare to him.

Mrs Umney: She’s housekeeper’s family and she tells Otis’ family the story of the Canterville ghost.

5. Summary Mr Otis wanted to buy the Canterville Chase, everybody said to him that that house was haunted, but he did not care. Mr Otis and his family moved to the Canterville chase soon. There was Mrs Umney, the housekeeper of them. One day, when they was drinking tea, found a blood stain on the floor and Mrs Otis said to the housekeeper to clean it and she started to tell the story of the Canterville ghost. At night, the ghost appeared and was foud by Mr Otis, but he did not scare and the Canterville ghost went to the twins’ room. He tried to scare the twins but he could not and the ghost was scared by them. The Canterville ghost did not appear more and one day, Virginia (Mr Otis’ daughter) talked to ghost and he told her about his story. He did not kill her wife (she had been killed by her brothers). The Canterville ghost pleased Virginia help him and prayed for him. She accepted and days later, the skeleton of Simon Canterville was buried. 6. Personal Opinion From my point of view, this book is very interesting due to we can see how the blood stain appears every day. It’s also amazing because the Canterville ghost wants to scare the twins but he can’t and then, he tries scare them every night when everybody is sleeping although the twins are who trick him. The mystery is also present through out the book, for example when at first, all family goes to the Canterville chase, or when Virginia doesn’t appear because she’s taking to ghost. In conclusion, I really like mysterious books, and I have read some of these type along my life.
