IESEF March, 2015

In about 4 months most of us will be wishing for the Artic blasts that have harshly bukkake’d the northeast, mid-west, and even the mid-south with winter precip. Are we fickle? Perhaps, but I think it’s more our ingrained nature to seek/ want change. I also think it’s our learned disposition to wish for rather than to actively seek the change we seek. It may not be practical for most of us to hop on a plane or jump in a car to change our weather, but we can do far more to change our day to day ‘weather’ by doing far less. Clouds overhead? Find the reason for that low pressure and get rid of it. You feeling cold, Bro? Create a warm front. Drought? Do what it takes to make it rain.

Ain’t no love

We are our own drapes. Heavy. Of different shapes and sizes. Ornate. Plain. Thick. Waiting to be parted.

If water was envious, who would envy who?

The last remaining drive-in in Memphis. A novelty, just like the concessions and defunct speaker boxes that barely hang on to their poles. You can see its huge screens from the nearby interstate on the weekends when the double features are rolling. The minimally maintained lot dotted with movie goers. The morning after and weekdays leaves this land like a ghost town. Empty tubs of popcorn like tumbleweeds.

From nothing Something.
