KAED II PROJECT AREA III: INCREASE DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF CORN AS THE MAIN COMPONENT OF LIVESTOCK FEED AND EDIBLE OIL THROUGH HIGHER YIELDS AND PRODUCTIVITY OF MAIZE AND SUNFLOWER DRIVEN BY PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN AGRICULTURE
T
his project area is directed on implementing Public-Private collaboration through the Global Development Alliance (GDA) between USAID and “Eurasia Group” LLC Switzerland representing companies: “Pioneer”, “John Deere”, “Du Pont” and
overall food security in Kyrgyzstan. Companies represented by the Eurasia Group represent well-known world leaders in the supply of high-quality seed, crop protection products, and agricultural machinery.
T
he GDA program will be implemented jointly by Kyrgyz Agro-Input Enterprise Development Project (KAED) and Eurasia Group, Kyrgyzstan. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the GDA partners on December 18, 2009.
T
he Participants to the GDA seek to share their respective strengths, experiences, technologies, methodology, and resources (including human, in-kind, and monetary) in order to achieve the goals set under
generating higher incomes for Kyrgyz farmers.
I
t is estimated that by the end of 2010 an additional 8,000 mt of corn
be added to Kyrgyzstan’s food balance at a reduced cost to the consumer and narrow the supply gap for both commodities. More importantly the private sector in agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.

he projected investment by the USAID under the GDA amounts to $400,000 whereas the Eurasia Group will invest approximately -
by USAID and Eurasia Group, combined with the foundation for the production of international brand high quality seed by Kyrgyz seed producsector in Kyrgyzstan.
