SUDETENLAND
The chronology of events • 1939 Treaty of Munich, integration into Germany • 1945 exodus of the ethnic Germans living here for centuries • 1948 New settlers with no local roots coming • The Communist regime neglected the area • Today, the state has no comprehensive policy dealing systematically with the urban and landscape renewal.
Our task • To discuss the problems of the lost cultural landscape (the original landscape is gone along with the original poulation and formation of the new one is a long process • The Czech-German cooperation
• What is the United Europe‘s view? • How to utilize this territory?
Competition+Workshop • Model territory - the area of the evacuated community of Vyškovice - Wischkowitz • Finding and formulating answers • How to recultivate the landscape? • What should be the landscape function • How to reconnect the original development? • How to reconnect to Europe? • How to revive the local economy? • How to bring back a creative population?
Cooperation • Cooperation of architects • Cooperation of the Czech and German people • Administrative cooperation • Formation of a common platform • Searching the common links (what do we have in common?)
