I My name is Ignacia Hofmann. I am a 27 year old integral designer and illustrator based in Santiago, Chile. Troughout my career and professional experience I have developed a number of different kinds of design projects and pieces, moving from illustration to visual communication, “experience design” projects and advertising. I started in media, El Mercurio, a Santiago-based mayor newspaper, and Terra Networks, the most important web site in Chile. Since 2012 I have worked in advertising for BBDO Chile as an Art Director, doing graphic pieces, web ads design and also TV commercials. What motivates me more is designing in every possible way and using every possible mean. According to my experience, that’s what people value the most of my work: being able to face any kind of projects, from its first concept to its final execution. I think that my best professional virtue is my attitude in order to keep myself looking around and searching for new things to change, together with being flexible. In that sense, I never get bored! This 2014 I won a national funding budget from chilean government agency CORFO, for a business project called “Stories”, a smartphne app for social storytellers. That can be a good example of how I am always looking for new challenges.

The App for Social Storytellers / Personal Project
App for Social Storytellers Founder Partner and Head of Art (2014) Stories is a Social Network to read, write and share short stories, is like an Instagram of Stories. The idea starts because more and more people are always connected to their smartphones; writing and reading is more common than any other time in history. We know there is a lot of talent going on in other social networks, but there’s not a platform specialy made to all kind of social writers. We also know that books are expensive (specially in Chile with the highest taxes in Latinamerica), and people do not have a lot of time to read big books. That is why we create Stories, an app where any one can become a writer. Find topics or “genres” in our explorer tool is really easy using hashtags. You can also read your friends or find stories writen in a particular place, for example “Santiago de Chile”. You can also customize your Story with a color or an inspiring image.

On april we participated and won the Geek Camp, a entrepreneurs contest to get funding. We won a CORFO, wich is a national fund for entrepreneurship and innovation. The app will be available to download in IOS7 and Android from June 2014.

Pisco Sour Campanario is ready to serve cold. So we thought about creating a sensual character, inspired by James Bond’s movies, who is a bartender living inside your fridge. Like a genie in the bottle, he is available to make your wishes come true, wherever you have a special event or happy hours at home with friends. We did a two parts commercial. The first one introducing the NEW Campanario Sour 14º for relaxed occasions, and a second part introducing Campanario 18º to stronger panoramas. We also design material for press, outdoor and point of sale.

Branding & Promotional Material Logo and corporate image developed for FECIP, Puc贸n Film Festival. Client: Studio 3/3 (2013) FECIP seeks to be a cultural window and promote national and international films in Puc贸n city, southern Chile, during autumn. This is the time of the year when tourism declines and the region needs to remain active. The graphic is inspired by Puc贸n, the volcano and lake Villarica, and the araucaria, the mapuche tree.

Famous enemies together
Graphics and Commercial Client: Corporación Yo Mujer (2013) http://corporacionyomujer.cl/ For second year in a road we did the Campaign “Running Against Breast Cancer”. Speaking of the presidential elections in Chile, we wanted to bring the two women candidates among other historical enemies. The colorful and positive message gave hope to people with breast cancer. It was a total success.

Paris and Yo Mujer join the fight against Breast Cancer
Graphics and Commercial Client: Paris and Yo Mujer Corporation (2013) I got the idea for this campaign that aims to prevent breast cancer: ​​using the three faces of Paris retail shops -Tonka Tomicic, Josefina Montane and Claudia Conserva-, to illustrate the concept that one out of three women dies daily in Chile of breast cancer. We decided that the look and feel out on a serious note of warning, but feminine and elegant.

One for day, one for night / Gatorade Add Concept & illustrations (2013) A good way to represent a runner is the relay race. In this case, the first runner is replaced by himself in his nightly version. I also thought the paper figures who holdhands to create this endless race. I have always liked to participate in workshops, so was happy doing graphics for the BBDO advertising workshop.

Paris Mobile Campaign / Your smartphone, your world Graphics and Commercial Client: Paris retail store (2013) Because technology is part of our life, we want to pay tribute to all independent Instagram photographers; to poets betrayed by the text corrector; to dogs and cats fan; for those who collect missed calls; to the girls who always match with her smartphone; to all dads who once had a tablet; and those who never stop playing. Your smartphone is your world. The script took the form of speech with a touch of humor, but without losing the reality. In addition we made catalogs, print ads and point of sale.

Official Cups Pisco Sour / by three chilean artists Graphics and Commercial Client: Campanario Sour (2013) The 2013 Campanario Sour launched the official pisco sour cups designed by three national artists: Bruna Truffa, Malu Stweart and Pamela Bocinovic. The artists were inspired by pisco sour, a very common drink among women 25 to 65 years. It is prepared with pisco, lemon juice and sugar. Being a sweet drink is perfect for sharing after work or at family events. We did catalogs, prints, packaging, point of sail and three commercials for tv and internet.

Promotional Material The Eskimos cells (2012) Synopsis 1. The eskimos cells are “filling in� a system to maintain numerical balance, but they don’t actually influence anything. Their existence does not change their environment; they just are. 2. An eskimo cell is also a strange person who fills the world numerically, without making any difference.

Papel贸n Blanket / Made of newspaper An economic solution to the problem insufficient termal insulation of emergency housing after the earthquake of February 27, 2010, in a wintertime scenario. It is a green bedspread that isolates the cold and keeps you warm. It is filled with newspaper cut into thin strips whose fusion encapsulates the air, one of the best thermal insulators. The same concept can be used as a mattress and cushions. Its production is simple and can be built at home at a very low cost.

MAFI is a web platform composed of pieces documentaries about Chile. The format of the works is simple: fixed frame, short duration and clean sound record. The goal is to capture fragments of the national situation, in order to create a map of our contingency, through an authorial gaze, reflective and high visual quality.

Alternative Covers for Books I read / Record of my readings
Re interpretation, concept and Art (Since 2011) I read books since I have memory and I love it. Therefore, as a personal initiative, I got the idea for the “Alternative covers for the books I read� consisting of making a brief comment of the reading. It is also a good way to keep track of your readings. You should not judge a book by its cover. A cover can immediately take us to a bad reading or vice versa. This idea seems to be true; many times, I would have done differently.

Design & illustrations at El Mercurio (2009) “Sábado” is a magazine supplement of the newspaper El Mercurio. There are talks about current issues, reports and interviews. I did an intership in design in “El Mercurio”. I worked on layout and as an illustrator on several occasions. Because of my interest and ease to illustrate abstract concepts, I asked them to give me that kind of assignment.

Pnews / Cultural Magazine Design & illustrations at Panoramas News (2010-2011) I worked at Pnews on 2011 as an Editor and a graphic designer, bringing illustrations whenever a subject required it. Working in an independent media was an interesting experience. Knowing how the business, sales, distribution, editing the topics and content to publish was a great learning to me. For me it was great to have the opportunity to completely redesign a means of communication. They gave me the freedom to change everything in order to make it more visually appealing and updated, keeping in mind “Entertainment� as a concept and also the audience at whom it is aimed.
