VIETNAMESE PEOPLE Vietnamese people can be very heroic and patriotic during the war time, but we are also very friendly and have a strong education-oriented ethic in the peace time. We are humans after all with our own identity, and welcome everyone to Vietnam as friends. Life may be tough in Vietnam for now, but that can't stop us from being optimistic and having great sense of humour.

HO CHI MINH CITY Its former name was Sai Gon. Long time ago many tourists viewed it as “a pearl of the far East”, which may reveals its splendid beauty. Its current name is an expression of great commemoration of Ho Chi Minh Uncle, who was the leader of the nation. HCMC is considered to be one of the most dynamic areas of the country - a social, cultural and economic center of the South. Normally, when tourists come to HCMC, they may enjoy staying in luxurious hotels, buying things as gifts and souvenirs at shopping centers, especially in districts 1 and 3.

Overall, Saigon has it’s fair share of pick pockets, bag snatchers and general scammers in the tourist areas but violent crime against foreigners is rare. Don’ t flash your jewelry, cash or expensive camera around. Be careful NOT to use your mobile phone on the street. Many people here are poor. 99 % are honest , but some of your stuff is probably worth at least a couple of months wages to a local.
